Alright, perhaps that's a bit hasty to call it that but some strange stuff happened.
I was playing in pantheon 2 vs.2 and I'll say I'm a pretty good player, I always do the best out of everyone generally. If not, its a close second place. I took one lane and was doing well, and my partner took the other. I look over to my partners lane and already pretty short into the game a rook had taken out a tower. My partner and I go to double team him, and the damage he was doing was massive. Something seemed really off about that. We suspect the other guy is cheating and the rook is AI. I call out over chat to talk if you're human, and didn't get a response even after a couple of minutes.
While my partner and I are talking about him cheating, my partner disconnects. I thought that was a bit strange since he wouldn't quit right in the middle of us talking. I noticed the pings of the two opposing characters were the same, which may or may not be unusual. I play for about 3 more minutes and already the rook has takened out 4 towers and a fort solo it looked like at level 9. I go upstairs to get a pen to write the names down, and come back to find my computer is restarting which doesn't happen to me ever. But one guys name was Mark Weston and the other was something like Pairyhair. I normally wouldn't post their names, but considering they didn't respond about being a bot for about 5 minutes and all that happened, I think its fair game.
I was thinking too, since this game isn't hosted over a central server, wouldn't the P2P connection make it easier to shut down someone elses computer? The last thing I want to do is look like a moron and be wrong about this, probably too late, but its just strange that I was really sure he was cheating, go upstairs to get a pen, come back down to see my computer restarting (and that might have happened to my partner as well). Seems fishy to me to say the least.
Im confused .... so they didn't talk so they were bots .... but if they were bots why would you expect them to talk?
Also was their ping "0"? If both were .. it was all AI...
2nd ... Your computer rebooting doesn't mean you were hacked bro lol. I mean honestly any IT person will tell you (including me) that the likely hood he hacked all the way into your system to REBOOT YOU?. Useless and a waste of time.
You probally had a BSOD (Blue-screen of death) and your PC auto-rebooted.
You should turn off the BSOD auto-reboot so next time you can see it and write down the error code. (Note: I am assuming you are running windows XP. If you are not re-post and tell me you are not running windows XP. If you are please follow the instructions below.)To do this ... 1) Right click on the "My computer" icon in the desktop...
2) Go to properties
3) Go to "Advanced"
4) Go to "Startup and Recovery" and hit the "settings" button.
5) Now where it says in the "System failue" box un-tick the box that says "Automatically re-start".
Now you just have to hope you will have another BSOD (or maybe never have it again) ... but if you do we will need the code from it.
If you get a screen like this the code we will need is after the "*** STOP:" after the bottom (so its STOP: 0x00000050 and so on and so on.Hope that helps!
strange indeed, still it seems unlikely that someone have forced your computer to reboot. If you want to be sure, i haven't tested it but the replay system is half implemented and you can access to your replay.
So if you haven't played since (the game also keep your last replay), google it, it will probably tell you if there is a problem or not.
I know for a fact rooks can take out towers and fortresses solo around that level, though if it was a bot using the Rook then it could be something fishy.
Thing is, i haver never heard of any type of hacker/hack being able to manipulate YOUR computer to the extent of being able to shutting it down through games....I mean, most hacks just change files under their owner's computers....
Maybe someone more experimented in this type of stuff can help you, i dunno
Someone can hack into your PC and take control ... it is very possible. Its just the likelyhood for him to do it while they are in a game with you just to reboot you? Eh ... doubtful.
lol, I don't mean bots or AI like when a person leaves, AI takes over. I mean like the character was played by a high level AI from the beginning. I've played against AI after a player leaves, and they're ridiculously easy and stupid. This was a lot different. I was seeing if the rook was a person, and they didn't reply.
I know its far off but it was like one thing after the next that was strange. The rook was beating on a tower, had a wave on him, and me beating him and hardly a dent and I was only one level below him. I've played around 30 games and I've never seen anything like that, if it was far into endgame I know DGs can basically solo everything but this was still around lvls 5-9
Maybe hack isn't the right word, but can someone send something over a P2P connection to make your computer restart? If your aim is to only win a game, thats all you have to do..
You sound pretty newbish to be honest. You are on a PC, why the hell would you run up to grab a pen. TAB + Print screen, then paste to your favorite to use artistic application such as PAINT.
I took a look at your pantheon record and didn't see any loses with double rook, however, it could have been one of the games lost in the stats system. Maybe it was a hack, which I doubt, but honestly you didn't take a screenshot, you didnt post a video, you can't even remember two peoples names after getting owned multiple times by them.
Edit: I took a look at Mark Westons pantheon, hes so new not even ranked under general stats. He has 11 loses and 3 wins, as a rook, doubt he is hacking. There is no guy with a name involving hair that has played recently or as a rook. There is hairysome and hairyanus but they both havent played much. GG?
Next time press the "TAB" key to look and see if it's a player. Really easy to tell weither they talk or not... just look at the ping. Constant "0" ping = bot. If he has anything other than that and anything other than a "0" sim speed. Not a bot.
As for this ..
Not really .... computers just don't listen to random messages sent to them unless they trust it. Thats one thing a firewall is for. If anyone's PC would just listen to anyone ... eh our world would be non-existent. .
Yea, but i meant like a game-hack. If you had power over a hack that could take control over another persons computer just like that....its true that nobody really would use it just to restart your computer over to win a game
If that hack was common/possible then all of these strategy games and this game would not be using a p2p system. If it was possible he wouldn't wait randomly to do it, and if anything it would d/c your client not restart your computer. Since it occured at a random time I'm going to go with a BSOD. Again, you ran to get something to write with when you were sitting at a computer...
Im just gonna stop responding now. You obviously don't know PC's to well. Its not possible bro. If hacking was that easy don't ya think many OF MANY people would get hacked like mad 24/7? And i don't mean like hackings that you are hear on the news of grandma clicking the new porno pop-up add. Im talking about actually breaking into the system. Hackers do it for reasons ... and im sorry no hacker is gonna waste their time if they know how to hack that well and hack into someones system to restart their shit ... it just is such a waste of time.
There is no "in-game" hack to. That means demigod would allow your PC to be taken over and id be having stardock in court perty fast if that was the case.
also this ^
lol im pretty sure this is a bug I saw someone else have
Mark Weston doesn't look like he cheats too often: http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/games/player/47048/
I also can't find any game where he played against you.
Which game of yours are you referring to ? http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/games/player/47048/
well. yust as a sidenote, i sometimes have the same problem, most of the time its windows itself which thought it could think by its own and made the very wise disision to patch my windows with a critical patch, therefore restarting my computer INSTANTENIOUSLY.
well, most of the times it gives you 360 seconds to make a disision, but if your playing games which will not let messages like that pop up (like GTA4). your screwed:)
so i dunno which day it was, but maybe it was something like that,( i believe mcAfee has its own mind 2 in restarting your PC)
There is no way in hell any hacker would go through the effort of hijacking your computer to do something as pointless as restart it Especially just to win a game. Chances are, you Bluescreened, as the second post mentioned.
I think it would be much easier to just overload your tcp/udp stack and all that would do is lag you out till you disconnect from game. To actually find a hole to restart your system would just take to long.
