What are your "bad teamates" stories?
-I've had at least 3 or 4 regulus players who just stand at the health crystal using snipe the entire game, not even going out to farm creeps and staying at level 1
-I had a Sedna teamate that went "pure stats" and got no ability until level 7, at which point the game was already over
-I had an Erebus teamate that went a pure mist build. He would type "lol they fell for my mist" every time an enemy demigod (sometimes 2 or 3) was waiting to kill him when he came out of mist. He never once succeeded at killing an enemy demigod or actually escaping death. At the game's final moments he typed furiously to everyone that his teamates sucked and didn't do anything.
-ANYONE that claims their teamates suck before the end of the game. I mean, seriously, I think this way sometimes but I never call them out and act like a jerk
Anyone else have some funny stories?
Bah, that strategy is always the best for rage quitters it seems like. My suggestion would be telling your teamates about what they might want to do/why, and what gear probably would be most useful for them....instead of throwing insults, I've certainly had that actually work before, since more often than not they're fairly new and many are glad to get support.
- I once had a Rook who seemed to think that charging through enemies to 'distract' the other team, would bring about victory. *note* it didn't seem to matter if he was alone or not, or whether or not there were multiple enemies.
I have a better one
1 - a rag that did not get mines(this is ok at times) but used snipe every time point blank range. Better yet he used snipe to try and take towers down
2 - had someone ask me why i was usen mines on creeps instead of standen there plucking away .
1 - Had a opponent use TB fireball spells on minotaurs. He never once used it on me, it was very confusing.
I had a Tower Rook ally recently. But that was it. He'd pick a spot, lay down two towers, and then idle. Even with 1/3 health and 3 enemies coming at him, he'd never move. I took on a tower not 8 yards in front of him and he didn't budge. He never once in the entire game pushed.
I was playing a Hybrid TB (Blizzard, fireball, frost nova) and my teammate kept yelling at me every 10 seconds "Stick to fire!! Dont go ice", even when fireball was on cooldown and after I had pointed that out.
getting finger of god before priests was quite funny
lol, i've seen that too. I had an ally buy the first two death reduction cit upgrades but nothing else. I asked why, and he said "I die a lot so I want to prepare."
I had a rook ally build towers next to all the towers already in place on cataract and just sit back. When he did leave the base he would storm forward to cap there portal through the defenses and type, "quick get their flags, I'l distract them!"
Generally if it was my team-mates fault we lost I say "you guys worked together we didn't." Even if every attempt to help them didn't work.
As for crazy strats I saw a UB use bestial wrath build when I was maxing venom spit. By the time he realized it was better I was using level 10 spit and he was using level 1 spit on me.
My friend just got demigod the day before yesterday, and yesterday we played customs pretty much all day. We took a lot of lumps because he is still learning the game, but one game in particular stood out.
We started up a 3v3 on cataract and had a UB as our third, with me playing Erebus and my friend playing Rook. Our UB was a complete elitist twit (fallacato or some such). He woud complain and bark orders when he wanted something and completely ignored any requests for help from us.
After being ignored 3 or 4 times when asking for help on my lane, I decided to just ignore the prick, he only wanted to solo and have us assist him at whim for kills in the center while he outleveled us and stroked his ego.
It only took about 5-10 minutes for him to realize we were ignoring him, and when he did, he exploded with nerd rage. He began to tell us how bad we sucked, going into all chat and telling the other team we were noobs and that I was the worst Erebus on the server. Almost everything he typed was done so with unprecidented fury, often followed by FFS!
One side portal side portal down, and about 40 catas clumped at our citadel, our UB raged out, leaving behind a cloud of "you sucks" and "FFS's". All appeared to be lost. But then...Our war rank increased. I loaded up on flag locks, and scampered to the enemy's back portals, locked them both and had my buddy buy giants. A quick port to base and a few bat swarms later and our cata troubles were no more.
Giants did thier job, and victory was ours. One of the most satisfying wins to date.
I don't have any elaborate stories like those posted above; however, I found them hilarious and enjoyed them all immensely. I could just see it all in my head: the rage banter - "omfg u r teh worst demigawd!11!1one!1."
Basically, the worst teammates are those who get greedy. They don't understand the chase-tag dynamic: they will fiendishly run after an opponent DG into enemy towers until they realize that they can't actually kill the enemy DG in time; then, as they go to run away, the enemy DG turns right around and kills the greedy SOB. Utterly futile, not to mention loses games.
UB player was countering reg's mines by walking on them. Very effective at destroying the mines, not very usefull if you plan on winning a game.
In a recent game the entire enemy team was stacking stun/slow items. Getting away from them was impossible, felt like my demigod wasn't moving at all, slowed down that much. Eventually won though, when we got giants they only had warscore of 8
I've had several partners who would capture the center flag on Cataract in Fortress mode by standing right on it, thus getting owned by the enemy fortress followed by a swift ganking. Once, fine, but several have died multiple times .
I had an Oak ally whom at level5 decided the best plan was to attack a fortress on Zikurat flag control, in order to cap the flag behind it.
We held none of the other center flags.
He ended up getting himself killed 4 times or so (and without destroying the fortress) before deciding to abandon that strategy, by which time the score was 7000-2500.
Was that the game I was in? I remember playing you and Fallacto or whatever. I got disconnected from that game right at the last minute which was fucking gay. I was playing Oak at that time.
Edit: Yeah, I remember. I got disconnected when the catas were hitting you guy's citadel. I got so pissed. lol.
I never did get to see the outcome of that battle, but hey if you guys won, good job. Only cuz I got disconnected though.
this is all bad Regulus players. i see alot of this. not sure why. maybe Reg is very appealing to new players.
gonna have to second the bad Sniping behavior. i see it ALOT. its not always the sniping all the way from the health crystal, sometimes they're just not using it very well. Snping somebody in the adjacent lane who's capping a flag but has no opposition. you knock off like 500 health and they regen it right back before you fight again. just a waste of time and mana to use it.
other Regulus players who just apparently have AWFUL timing. they're always out of range to get a finishing blow Snipe on somebody who ran from you with 10% health left.
I also see alot of Regs not understand that you have to stand ON OR NEAR the flag to cap it. they'll use their range to stand well behind the battle line and thus never get close enough to the flag to cap it. the range difference is big enough that they won't even succesfully hold a flag you already own from an enemy DG coming in to contest it.
yea, you were there, I didn't know you got disconnected, that sucks. But ya, kinda funny how things work out.
lol, I'm laughing so hard right now.. ah, priceless
I played Rook one game where the other team's Rook would wade into my tower farm and use structural transfer I. It didn't seem all that effective even early on when all I could get going was a tower garden but as the game progressed the strat started going badly for him and his team eventually lost.
The funny thing about it was I had a teamate yelling at me the whole game to stop making towers and he would do it in the most dramatic fashion.
"STOP MAKING TOWERS!!! YOU'RE JUST FEEDING THE OTHER ROOK! OMG!!!"
Even after I had tried politely explaining the logistics of channeling level one structural transfer in the middle of a 4-6 tower farm vs. an enemy rook who has focused on shoulder upgrades, hammer slam, and boulder roll, he still wouldn't let up on me. Poor guy must have thought our team was extremely fortunate to win despite my foolishness.
I played a game awhile ago with a Regulus who spent like 10 minutes at a time at the Health crystal. I was like "Dude, WHY ARE YOU SITTING AROUND?". It was frustrating since I was practically the only one out of our base trying to push and dying to double teams while my ally would go out for a few minutes, then return and sit forever.
I guess maybe he was new checking out items. So maybe I shouldn't of been so lame to him but I was very frustrated.
That's happened to me more than once. Some guy's spazing out because of my strategy, but eventually I gain four levels on everyone and dominate. Although, worse are the allies I get who think they know what I'm doing, and decide to charge a heavily defended lane at level four "with me". And I watch. And try to get them to back up. Because that was not what I was doing.
After losing a match on Cataract with 3 TBs vs others, one of our players proceeded to call every single developer stupid because "mines are so OP" and "this isn't NEARLY AS GOOD AS DOTA because you could destroy mines" "If the developers are so smart why do mines have health bars?" "I'm IN A GAMING COMPANY MYSELF I KNOW THIS STUFF" over and over again. After much back and forth coversation and asking him to please stop and lose honerably, I told him I was going to ignore him, at which point he proceeded to berate me over, and over, and over again. I swear it must've been a child.
And here's one from a recent game:
Namelesspartner12: (Who apparently believes that the only way to play Sedna is not get heal and go for straight pounce andyetis) "LOL our UB is a noob hes getting ooze and not spit"
Me: Ooze is great, even better than spit in some cases.
Namelesspartner12: LOL you TAKE damage how smart is that huh?
Me: No, it's really great, I've actually wrote my own personal build as a guide and it works really well for me.
*20 minutes later, having scored multiple kills while my partner suceeded in nothing and we are near victory*
Namelessparter12 (to all) channel: NOOBS, I friggin OWNED YOU, I CARRIED MY ENTIRE TEAM THROUGH THAT, MY PARTNER WAS A WORTHLESS IDIOT. BTW DO YOU GUYS PLAY HALO3 MY GAMERTAG IS THE SAME NAME. (I am not joking, I wish I was)
hahahha. god save us from the Xbox Live kiddies.
Reading these makes me feel that I'm quite lucky. I never had any extreme stupidity in my games. Sure there are a few new players on occasion who don't know what they are doing, but that is understandable. I never had those badmouthers, though. And I hope I never do.
