Hi guys,
I've been looking forward to this game for a long time, like many others here imo
I certainly did NOT buy this game to play vs bots.
I receive the "cannot connect to NAT facilitator" error like many others.
This is what i did already :
- disabled vista firewall
- turned on DMZ on my router
- opened those specific ports just to make sure (6073 and 6100-6200 on UDP and TCP, again to make sure)
- disabled lavasoft ad-aware
- disabled mcafee enterprise virusscanner
- downloaded and installed the new DLL the makers released
My setup at home is Intel I7
Router : dlink DIR-855
static ip for my gamepc
So what did I miss and what else can I try to finaly being able to play my FIRST online game?
Thanks for helping me out folks.
have u tried downloading that new impulse reactor Frogboy posted?
http://www.draginol.com/files/impulsereactor-0514.zip
yeps, that's what i ment with "- downloaded and installed the new DLL the makers released" There is ImpulseReactor.dll inside the zip.
any other suggestions that might solve my problems?
When did you buy the game and/or has it ever worked for you?
hey Spooky,
I bought the game of the official website through "digital download". So I only have a serial, no dvd or box.
And it has never worked for me yet. No problems with playing singleplayer vs bots. The problems start when i try to play online.
NAT facilitator error.
anybody else who can help me out?
still not able to play online though
Try making a direct connection to your PC without a router. Might be hazzle but it can isolate the problem. I too had use a different router to be able to play, fortunately I had two.
Also the command ipconfig /flushdns might work (Or /dnsflush, I do not remember.)
Also try checking the logs of your router. Also, opening ports and forwarding ports are different kind of things.
Forwarding is making sure that certain packets send over a certain port are going to specific IP Address.
Good luck mate.
Is that really that good idea to turn on DMZ?
m8...DMZ is a huge security hole...
If you know the basics, like running a decent firewall on the computer in the DMZ, then its not really a problem.
It should only be used to try figure out a problem though.
I bought the game saturday morning (16/05).
I tried to put my gamepc on DMZ and then Demigod didn't work either.
Today I turned off my router and put the cable directly in my pc and the game was still not working.
Keep in mind my firewall, ad-aware, mcafee antivirus are ALL turned off.
Anybody who has the golden tip for me?
cheers m8s
Here is the log of me trying to join a custom game. Tried the feature skirmish feature too, by clicking on "fight". But it wouldn't let me go further than "trying to find a game" or something
Thanks a lot all for trying to help me out!

after reading through my log i saw a few times port 6000 appearing so I decided to open the port in my router.
Tried again and same error message came up "nat facilitator" and the port in the log was now 6002
and after opening all udp & tcp connections from port 6000 up to 7000, the port was 6004 in the log :

strange stuff
Still optimistic i'll be able to play soon vs all of ya!
still waiting for the golden tip to solve my problems
I think all you can do for now is wait for the next update. There is an issue where certain Modems, Routers or Firewalls block Stardock's NAT facilitator server, intentionally or unintentionally, after the server sent you many UDP packets. This issue occured before the May 7th patch and after the May 14th patch, where that traffic isn't throttled anymore, to make the connection process faster. Cari, one of the develeopers, told me, that they will put back in some throttling once the Pantheon/Skirmish update is out (yesterday's update).
Ah, I almost forgot. One other thing you can try in the meantime is this ImpulseReactor.dll.
Thanks for the update, but I've already tried that DLL and it wasn't helping me getting online
looking forward to the new patch
New Update released for Demigod. Update through Impulse.
Patch seems to work for some people, doesn't work for me though.
sux
Looking.
thanks
This is the router i'm using fyi http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=548&sec=1
I don't experience problems with any other online games i'm playing (Dawn of War 2, Left 4 Dead, Warcraft 3 Dota, ...)
Has your modem by any chance any router functionality? I've seen some modem/router hybrids before.
Cornuu,
Your router does not handle UPnP correctly so you will have to set up the ports to play. When you set up ports in your router, use the Virtual Server tab instead of the Port Forwarding tab. The Port Forwarding on that router does not do the job. Assign the following ports to Virtual Servers.
6000
6112
6113
6114
That should be enough to get you up and running. Please let us know if this helped.
