Hey guys,
First off I'd like to say I totally enjoy Demigod, and I really appreciate your efforts to cut down the connection issues and the fact that you are actually telling the community what's up as it happens. There are NO other dev/publishers that I know that currently do this - and more should.
Anyway, I have a small request - very low level.
When a user is disconnected while playing online, you get the "A player has left the game" voice over.
You can tell who actually left by looking at the player list and looking for the zero ping gamers. That's fine.
However, it would be great if you could also add 'AI' in parenthesis after their alias when the AI takes over. This would be both when you mouse over a player in game and also looking at the player list. To finish it off, it would also be convenient if you could see it posted for a few seconds (ie "John Doe has left the game") at the top of the game window while playing.
Thanks,
BurntSoul
Not a bad idea. I think this idea has been tossed around internally but I'm not sure what the final verdict was. Check in future updates as you may see this show up.
Okay, cool. Thanks! Oh, and I did notice that the message comes up when someone leaves. However, If too many 'news updates' hit at the same time (someone dies, another disconnects) you may not get to see the message as it comes up. Maybe user disconnects should be in a different color and/or stay on the screen longer? Just a thought.
PS: For some whacky reason, I am always reminded by the line, "A player has left the game", like a tune in a song; I just cannot get it out of my head. Then I realized, just as you added multiple voice overs to the characters for flavour, you could also add some of the same to the disconnects for fun...
"A player has decided to mock the gods"
"A player has thrown fate into the wind"
"A player has left in fear of the awesome truth"
"A player has not forwarded UDP ports"
You get what I'm saying.
Just having fun with it,
BurntSoul, I second your request and would enjoy more varied voice overs, as long as, they are not to campy like Unreal Tournaments comments...Demigod deserves its seriousness and impart fear when you hear a voice come from Heaven or Hell!!
