I've only lost a few games online and it was annoying in all the cases because my teammates seemed to be decent players but they didn't listen to my advice:
1. On small maps (prison, ziggarat) STICK TOGHETHER...if you are going to go grab a flag or something fine, but you'll get a lot more kills early on if you stick toghether. The gold you will gain from early kills will be the difference later on...
2. Buy citadel upgrades. I just lost a game tonight because I was the only one buying citadel upgrades...even though I pratically begged the other players to spend some gold on them.
3. Consumables are a short term solution, not a long term strategy. If you are spending all your money on flag locks & teleport scrolls it might seem like you are winning for a while, but the other team is going to be spending their money on better armor and citidel upgrades.
As anyone started forming clans and such so I can start playing with people who actually work as a team instead of trying to rack up the most kills & best items for themselves?
I think it's better to spread out at the start. Then people don't have to share experience. And if you're always going for kills at the start rather than more conservative levelling, chances are you'll die and waste time respawning. Sticking together can be good sometimes but there shouldn't be a rule "always stick together".
Tele scrolls are really helpful throughout the game. If you need to get back quickly to upgrade (or heal if there's no other alternative), taking a long walk back can really put you behind.
They are useful, no doubt...my point is using them to excess. Some people use them constantly...thats a lot of money for very little gain.
Adding another one to the list...
4. Players to quit from 4 vs 4 matches just because one person from their team dropped.
Yes, I agree with that, they should be used sparingly.
Hmm I hate people who stick to me at the beginning, leaving a lane empty with creeps dying and no one to harvest their precious souls... Anyone who is a half decent player will stay far back when two demigods appear in their lane, or teleport to another one.
LoL @ Zehdons #3.... so many of my Dota friends are THAT GUY.
My personal pet peeves, not necessarily things that ag me on from the internet community, but my closer friends who i team with usually:
1) You just wont learn. Why do you insist on starting with boots of speed ON ROOK? Youre still slower than them and now you're down 525 mana +4/sec, and health+regen. I need you to tear down towers, not take slightly longer to get chased down.
2) The guy who just wont think: My buddy constantly buys tier 2 and 3 of the gold upgrade. Despite showing him the math and him knowing how long our average game lasts (Short enough that T2/3 dont provide ANY profit by the time he buys them) he still does it. I ask him to get a cit up and next time i check ive got two useless, expensive, upgrades and still level 1 creep dmg. WHYYYYYYY
3) Feeders. If you get owned more than twice by the same DG in a row, you need to avoid it. Call for help. YOU CANT TAKE HIM. I promise, if he's your level and owns you twice, there is absolutely no way you will touch him when hes two or three levels above you. you arent helping any.
1) Know-it-alls, that don't really know it all.
2) Angsty know-it-alls, that still don't know it all.
3) Rage-quitting know-it-alls, that are going off to prove to someone else how little they actually know.
4) The guy dumping so much gold into the citadel that the minions are more of a threat than he is.
5) Anyone that repeatedly engages the enemy before level 5 or so... while finally reaching level 5 when the rest of us are 8 or 9.
Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and second all of those.
This. Had a 4v4 game last night where the other Regulus on my team got dropped near the beginning. We beat them handily and they even wondered if it was really AI.
If the other team is any good the AI is just going to be farmable exp and gold. I stuck through a 4v4 game where one of ours dropped and we were 'winning' for a while, but they came back hard after they destroyed the AI a couple of times.
