So I was trying out the evaluation of IP for the last month and my evaluation ran out. So i decided to purchase it. 2 major issues have now happened.
1. Every time i launch the app it says my evaluation has expired even though i installed my update via impulse and it started to work again.
2. My Vista toolbars disappear completely. The shellstyle toolbars. Soon as i revert back to default the toolbars reappear.
Anyone else having these issues?
By the way. Explorer keeps crashing. Now none of these issues happened with the evaluation version. It ran fairly well.
I just recently got a new computer with Vista Home Preimum 64 bit and I am not having any problems as you describe.
I'm thinking it may be because you didn't uninstall the free or evaluation copy of IP or if you did there are some left over pieces. Use Impulse to uninstall, run a clean up program like CCleaner, reboot and then reinstall. I know you are not new to all of this so I hope you don't think this was a silly question to ask. Just about everyone at least once forgets to uninstall a free version before installing the full.
First it never prompted me to uninstall. I have uninstalled it now and my toolbars are still missing. I shouldn't have to run a clean up program to run an app. That's ridiculous. I can't even find my app to reinstall it through impulse. Plus i was not sent a serial number just an invoice so i can't even include that. I'm getting pissed.
Toolbars are back. I just switched Hyperdesk themes and they came back. They were probably remembering the bug from before and when the theme was applied it wiped the bug out. I would like my serial number. Also can't i get IP as a standalone app and installer without using impulse?
impulse should automatically detect your registrations from what I've read - i'm still using sdc
once it logs you in, it should say it's available
have you looked at 'my account' > 'registrations' under your name at the top of the page here to see if your serial is listed?
Glad to see you got things back.
I'm just a user of the software so the other questions will have to be answered by SD folks.
I uninstalled everything. I just don't have time to troubleshoot someone else's software. When i have some free time i'll look at what you wrote Bichur after reinstalling. Thanks.
Jeff...while I'm not sure anyone wrote about IconPackager specifically, a good deal has been written on the Forums about uninstalling Trialware (WB) before installing a purchased copy.
Also, a good deal has been written about Impulse. I'm confident you know this is SD's installation and update platform, and while it isn't perfect, it is what we have. To forestall the reply, Impulse is a large platform, but it is SD's hope you'd consider getting more.
I'd uninstall using Revo or CCleaner. Then reboot and reinstall....this time using Impulse. SD is/has phased SDC out, so I wouldn't rely on it to update the app.
Oh yeah...you gonna finish that patch you bad boy?
I know why you have to install impulse i just wanted to know if you could avoid it. I didn't have impulse installed when i had the eval copy and everything ran nicely. Which is why went to buy the full version when the eval expired. But i just got things running and i don't want to go through it again.
Patch has been running forever. Its the app i'm waiting to be finished. And the icon codes. Everything else is good. We just have to port Disney, WALL-E and EVE over to vista and all the themes are done being ported.
And i've bought plenty of apps where you use the eval copy and just unlock it with a key. Which this seems to do only it didn't work right. It should have erased the word free since i was no longer using a free a version.
hi TheSkinsFactory..hope your prob has solve..
Have you narrowed this down to IconPackager? I'm having problems with Explorer and was thinking that IP could be the problem.
