An old thread that identified this issue that has fallen off the front page on the tech support forum. I figured rather than bumping the thread, a new one that outlines the exact problem might be better off.
The symptoms of the problem are some visual effects not appearing correctly, or not appearing at all. It doesn't affect visual quality, but it seems to affect some kind of transparant visuals. The problem occurs regardless of the visual quality settings of the game, and occur even on the highest graphics settings.
Effects that appear to be affected:
- Queen of Thorn's Bramble Shield is not visible at all.- The puddle like effect from Unclean Beast's spit is not visible.- The fire effect from Torch Bearer's Ring of Fire does is not visible.- The mist effect from Erebus's Mist skill is not visible (because erebus is also invisible, it looks like he has teleported).- The visual effect that shows where a player is teleporting to is not visible.- The trail on the shots from the Trebuchet (Rook and Fortress) are not visible.- The trail on the shot from Regulus's Snipe does not appear correct.- The glow around items is not visible.- The visual effect for leveling up is not visible.- The glow effect that shows when a flag is being captured is not visible.
There are likely more, but these are just what was reported. Not all visuals break, only some appear to. All the broken visuals seem to be created using some kind of transparancy / blending.
A video is available on youtube that shows some of these problems. See Youtube: Demigod - Missing Visual Effects

When asked most users (including me) are running latest drivers from NVidia (Signed April 2nd, 2009).
I have this exact same problem. I only became aware of it after watching my brother play Demigod on his computer (which has a more recent card). Every single one of those bugs which the OP's demonstration video showcased happen to me as well.
I have a 7900 GS which is fully patched. So I suppose you can add me to the list as well
I hope they fix this moderatly soon (I'd love to have the same pretty visuals as my brother has!) I hope they get this solved once the connection issues settle down.
Ya, with Stardock, we get great, detailed updates almost every day, but, unless I've missed something, I never see anything from GPG; and since they are "in charge" of lots of things Stardock has little say over in Demigod, it's a bit troubling. . .
They do post on the forums every now and then, when necessary. Stardock is doing it on their behalf. Like I've mentioned in another thread before, I'd rather they focus their efforts on the patches and problems than spend time on the forums. It's not that I don't want to see them speak to their player base, but I can definitely see the efficiency in simply letting Stardock be their correspondent.
Yep. I figure that GPG is probably mainly working to fix the issues, and letting Stardock handle the forums mostly (since they are doing a very good job of it). I just hope this gets fixed soon...
Hah, I though erebus just had a hide skill. Didn't know I was missing out on the graphics. Put my name on the list with a 7600 GT.
edit: drivers are latest.
Ditto, after seeing some videos of DG on youtube, I am surprised this glitch wasn't caught before release - there are a lot of visuals missing from this game! I'm running with the 2x GeForce 7900 running in SLI. I think I've heard someone mention that this series lacks the appropriate filter to draw certain objects or something? I know this is an ATI/AMD game, but didn't think it would affect us Nvidia/Intel users that much
Drivers are latest, just updated 2 days ago.
Bump.
Can we at least get a Dev to comment on this so that we know that they are working to get this fixed. VERY annoying.

Yes, another bump here; I died last night twice standing in the TBs fire circle, and you have no idea your even in it till you notice how fast your health is going down. I also ran right into that Vapire Lord when he was "misted" a couple times too (but got away). I'm sure my teammates were shaking their head at me.
The game is certainly playable without, but I have to chime in that on my 7900GTX I'm missing all these useful effects as well. All graphics settings are maxed except for 2xAA. Using 182.08 here still, but from the sound of it the next most recent drivers don't fix the issue either.
I too have a 7900GTX and am having this issue. I was watching my friend play it on his 8800 when I noticed some really really nice effects I don't get. I was wondering why it looked a bit on the bland side in some areas.
This is also occuring on my brothers PC. He has a 7000 series Nvidia card though I don't remember the specific model.
It turns out that 6000 series cards were also effected by this. The fix is included in the 1.1 patch. If you haven't seen it on a computer with a different card, I think you will find the visual difference to be quite remarkable.

Thank you VERY much Servo. That's what we all needed, just some kind of imput as to what was happening with this problem.
Glad it's being fixed, Servo. Much appreciated.
I can't wait to actually see an enemy TB circle of fire, and avoid it instead of sitting there like Forest Gump on hot coals. . .
Hurray!!! This is great news!
This is great news indeed! Heh and I was just on my way to see if there was any updated news about this.
I've seen what the graphics could look like and it is truely amazing with all the extra effects.
The game is beautiful with these added effects.
Thank you so much for fixing this!
Yeah, I have to agree. Lots of other small and large effects I've seen as well now. Never realized the TB's fireball wasn't supposed to look almost exactly like Diablo's firebolt spell. It's actually very destructive-looking now.
