Hey guys!
I recently purchased Demigod and hit up multiplayer but there's no-one online! I found six matches, most of which were in a foreign language. Is this normal? Do I need to patch the game or something? I'd heard that pirates were running rampant all over multiplayer and that, because of this, there were loads of people to play with.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated as I bought this game specifically to legitimise playing it online.
Heh, wait till peak hour (around midnight GMT I think). Usually there's 20+ games in the custom games bit easy.
Minimum players online at one time is like 300 I think.Game hasnt been released in Europe and people are waiting for connectivity to get fixed before playing again.
Thank you for the reply. It's a shame (though likely inevitable) that peak times are largely inacessible to those of my geographical location.
Thanks again for the reply; plus one karma pour vouz!
That's because
1) The list doesn't show you full games
2) The list doesn't show you games in progress
Where you located?
well round 8pm to midnight eastern tim there are plenty of games.
In the UK. I know the game has not been officially released here but I was so damn impressed with the version I acquired that I bought the Direct Download version off Impulse the second I found it.
Seriously, great job on the game: I flipping love it!
Of course there is no one online. Everyone is frustrated with the connectivity and has moved on to other games. Well, at least I have.
As someone else said, many, many people are waiting for all this connectivity stuff to be fixed. My brother for example, works ten hour shifts then gets home and only has a few hours to himself before he has to go to bed. He tried putting up with Demigod for a few days then gave up as he could only get 1 game in at night time as it takes forever to get a game going. He said he will give Demigod a few weeks until (if) he returns.
Thanks. We have a lot of cool stuff coming up for it too.
We had a conference call with GPG yestereday on how to implement clan games in a future update (i.e. where groups join and are matched with other groups).
That sounds mega-sexy! I'm an active player of a good few MMOs (intermittently, I have very little money so I play one MMO a month and tend to buy one game a month (all the more compliment to you that I chose to buy your game this month!)) and I love the guild/clan system in MMOs but I've always pondered why casual online games have failed to pick up on it. Games in clan-matches are so much more intense as you all come to know one anothers' play-style and you all come to feel a real kinship.
Ouch! Tell your brother I sympathise! I have roughly 2 (perhaps three depending on how productive my previous day was) hours per day to play games so I can really sympathise with your brothers' troubles! It sounds like I've been pretty lucky: my one tournament match was put together in perhaps a three minute wait. Although it was massively unfair on the opposition (it was two Erebii versus one human Regulus and an AI Rook and, of course, we smashed them to bits) and I can appreciate how hard that must have been on the guy whom found himself with an AI and had to abandon the match halfway through due to the sheer impossibility of defeating two players.
tbh i play every day and 3 v3 game now i can call about working
time to join in EU is pretty fast and there are enough ppl usually, with 6 ppl of around 100 ping the game start without any problem
3v3 games are completely fast and enjoyable
4 v4 i found still difficult to start, as sson as ppl are 6-7 the time to join increase dramaticaly and so the chance to DC and bad peering
i started a few 4 v4, many of them too much laggy to be fun
i still never ever even started a 5 v5 game
Ehh... there were definitely more people around before and I have seen more Custom Games before. Really sad, this was a really good game.
Well I still really enjoy it and (since I purchased it yesterday) I've been trying to get in a PvP game at least once daily. Remember guys: if we don't stick around to help Player versus Player comabt Demigod is doomed to obscurity and cult following!
I get about 5-6 games in a night, mostly 2v2, but occasionally 3v3, its a blast to play, its going to be awesome once they can start adding DLC to it, if you want to call it that, seems so consolish heh.
Played some games online tonight (In the Netherlands), had no problem finding some decent games, played, two 3v3 and one 2v2. Had only one lag spike and one player dropping in the three games.
So my first online experience went fairly smoothly.
I've been able to get a game every time I've tried...
But I do play late, between 9pm-6am EST.
You asked if you need to patch. Does that mean you haven't patched to whatever the latest version is since purchasing it?
If you bought it at a store and you haven't installed the update (from Impulse), then you need to patch or you'll be on a different server from everyone else (as far as I understand it).
had the same problems, though my game wasnt updated aswell, to find out it was, i am located in Denmark, Scandinavia and i dont regret buying the game, i know it will be more accesible when the connectivity gets better, and when it's released in europe, more stable games for us, but so far i am doing okey
I updated it through the Impulse client (at least, as far as I can tell!) and when I go into the game and use shift+tab to bring up the impulse client the update option is greyed out, I presume this means it's updated?
This statement is damning to the people on the fence thinking about buying the game. If you have to wait til peak hour for a game this close to release that speaks volumes.
I play very non peak hours (I work 3rd shifts) and I do alright for games. I will ocasionally have to wait a bit for custom games to get started as most of the ones fired up at my hours are in Russia and Europe. I would say on average it takes 10 mins to fire up 3 v 3 USA games at the 7AM-Noon EST time frame. I have tried numerous overseas games and they continually run fine around the 300 ping range, so if your willing there is that option.
"Run-Fine" is a personal opinion. Sadly if you have any of these "run-fine" people load up WC3.... they won't think Demigod runs fine anymore. Its not even completely about lag so much anymore... as it is about this game requiring a computer that is WELL above what it should.
I'm runnin a 3.0 core2 with 8800 gt. It runs every game i've ever tried perfectly fine... including demi god if i'm playing by myself. 2v2 is ok. 3v3 is very sluggish and slow but still playable. 4v4 and higher is a crawl for EVERYONE. Its almost turn-based its so friggin slow. Assuming you can keep everyone connected.
And this game has apparently been released EVERYWHERE... because when playing on game-ranger with a legit copy running latest version... We are getting tons of people allover the world joining. Many of which won't survive long with connection issues but they are running a legit copy (or a copy updated to latest version).
I was refering to the issue of lag though, which is where location matters. Someone having a garbage computer is going to crap up everyone in the game regardless of location and isn't really the point of this argument. This discussion is only about times games are available.
