The purchasing of multiple suits (stacking) of armor. Also helms can often be stacked, but really how can you wear more than one suit of armor at a time, or more than one helm?
Not an exploit.
Think the item decision (ie: helm, bp, boots) has more to do with trying to lump them into categories than anything else. Boots = run speed, helm = mana, etc.
Why do you think that this is an exploit? Demigod simply does not use this kind of gear inventory.
Also, by your logic: how can the Rook wear such a small helmet anyway? Or how does unclean Beast fit into the gloves etc.?
Well, item type just definit what bonus you get. Armor for health+armor, healm for mana, gantlet for attacks, boots for speed, mana and health... That's just how the game work. Sound strange at begining but after some times you forget.
Well, I think it create a weird, lopsided dynamic to have more than one suit of armor/helm/pair of gloves.
Some of us get cold while fighting.
You're playing a video game where a giant castle is running around, a chick with her tits floppin around is being carried around by beetles.....there's something called suspension of disbelief. Yes, you're wearing 2 BPs, who cares....how is that any more unfathomable than anything else in this game?
It's not an exploit, it will NEVER be changed. Better start loving it or if you want to Roleplay don't get multiples of the same item lol =P
Well I can think of a really good reason why male demigods would want two helmets when going into battle. And a lady can never have too many pairs of shoes. Thats just a rule.
Seriously this has been covered before. When you buy an item you are absorbing the items power into your essence. It has been explained that the maps in Demigod exist outside the mortal realm and the natural laws altered (this is why you respawn instead of die permanently)
If you don't want to buy that story just accept that its a game and things are the way they are for reasons of game mechanics.
It's been discussed a lot in beta, and GPG decided not to restrict items to 1 per category.
Now that I think about it this debate reminds me of Roger Wilco putting the ladder in his pocket in Space Quest III.
Dydx: I was under the impression she lost her last job by extinguishing too many souls in the champagne room. While we are at it somebody explain to me exactly what the motivation is for the player to buy the QoT something to wear? I don't think they were thinking about the targeted demographic.
They don't actualy wear those items. They carry them in a bag. Just possessing those items grants them powers!
This gives me an idea. An evil idea. Testing it now.
Evil idea fails and wastes gold . You can't drop an item, buy the same item, and then pick up your old one.
I think most of them were on IRC? Pretty early in the beta. I remember asking Eric if they were considering restricting items to 1 per type and he said they looked at it but it probably isn't going to happen.
And.. it didn't
Not an exploit, just the way the game is designed.
Personally, I don't like it as it's not intuitive to new players imo. For example I had to tell my wife about the fact that you can purchase/use multiple helms/armor/gauntlets.
But, I'm not sure how you'd change/fix it unless every item was more of a icon/ring or smaller more recognizably stackable object.

This is just plain Incorrect.
The more variables/options you have to choose from, the greater the variance in possible strategies and the more chance to prove your skill in correct itemization -- based on what demigod you are playing.
If you choose to stack 5 armors you're going to be very defensive but you're giving up a great deal. Your not going to have any mana regen (helms), won't have any offense (No gloves for +weapon damage), nor will you be fast (no boots for speed).
Maybe that works for you, but IMO the items are balanced so that in most cases if you go extreem in one category you're going to be sacrificing other very important options.
Not to mention not all armor for example is good for every demigod. Some armor is good for generals others are better in the hands of Assassins.
As an example, playing UB a typicall hit and run build includes mostly boots and gauntlets.
Erebus minon build is best imo with, armor x2, helm, gloves x2
Greater choice = greater variance. It is harder to design/itemize/balance gear, but imo the designers have done a very good job.
There are restriction though. Every stat in the game has a hard cap, you can only use one of any item and there are only five equipment slots. These factors alone are enough to effectively restrict "lopsided" gameplay dynamics while still providing a great deal of player freedom. You would have a point if I could wear as much equipment as I could buy, or if I could wear multiples of the same item for example. As is, the items are balanced regardless of how you choose to equip.
