I hate to admit it but 360 would not be having the piracy or connection issues that Demigod on PC has. Plus with the simple click interface this game would play just as well on the 360.
If you are suggesting DG is an RTS and only an RTS you are sadly mistaken. It's been described as an RTS/RPG/Action game. RPGs and Action games are great on consoles. DG is a far cry from a real RTS and why it would do great on a console.
THe reason you need hotkeys on a full blown dedicated RTS is becuase you have so many units to manage. With DG you basically have 1 unit (obviously generals have a bit more but it's easy to handle that with a console as well).
rts dont work cause controls. this works like an action game
Lol, thread win.
Anyway, two things:
1. You cannot translate the interface of Demigod to a gamepad, without dumbing down the game. Maybe it will be playable, but it won't be Demigod that we know and love. Not every game can be played with a gamepad.
2. There are so many pc games with multiplayer that works. Demigod isn't one of them, but that doesn't mean that multiplayer on PC sucks because of the platform itself.
3. Why this thread? WHY?
I have to respectfully disagree with your statement that the simple control mechanism of an x-box controller is well suited to demigod...
How would it handle teleporting? How would you handle quick pans around the map to investigate the different areas of the map?
I'm sure x-box would have done some things better, and if there is indeed pre-built network code in it then sure, the connection issues probably wouldn't be so bad, however it would be a vastly different game to what we have on the PC.
Lets also make mention that demigod has leveraged the supreme commander engine for all graphics and gameplay. I'm not sure if porting that whole engine over would be easy or trouble free.
i want demigod on my cellphone too...
PS3 has a weak-sauce video card, which is why on just about every multiplatform game the 360 version looks better.
What does it really matter though, the PC is better than all 3 consoles combined.
I would not pay 60 dollars for this game. It would be shadowrun all over again.
do you guys really think it's a coincidence that the game only allows 4 skills and 4 useable items? I'd bet they designed it to cross platform just in case.
Good point...you could toggle the items with the left or right trigger and then just select A, B, X, Y for the proper skill/item. Plus with the way they do on screen wheel seleciton (like in halo wars or Mass effect) I'm sure they could get it to navigate teh limited ability tree fairly easily.
If dg were only on the 360, I wouldn't buy it. I wouldn't take it seriously at all. Consoles are for casual gaming.
I can't believe this thread exists. First of all, connection problems probably wouldn't be any better as the game would likely still use P2P. Also, controls would be terrible. As a previous post said, how would you deal with panning across the map, selecting skills to learn, or buying items/citadel upgrades? Not to mention casting spells or even just attacking/moving. Sure, it could work like other RTS games where there's a cursor in the center of the screen, but the game is too fast-paced for that to work effectively.
Not to mention that, as another poster said, Xbox 360 users are, on average, much less mature than PC gamers (mostly due to the large amount of teenagers). As bad as playing with random users online is on the PC, it would be a lot worse on the Xbox.
The only real reason most people are saying this is because the game didn't launch well, and the game was released on the PC. Trust me, if Demigod was released for the Xbox 360, most of you wouldn't like it, and it definitely would've gotten worse reviews. I am 100% sure Stardock will have all of the major issues ironed out within the next month, if not sooner.
False, show proof ya troll. Only reason xbox may 'look' better on some games because the game developers are to lazy to code with PS3 CPU, so it's just a port from 360. Sorry to say mate but you fail.
Just look at the specs lol...it's not rocket science. And the PS3 has a better processor...so it's pretty much a wash.
And can I ask you a question...why are you getting so upset over this? lol...forgot your meds today or did someone just poop in your cheerios?
Anyways, like I said, does it really matter? With all of us having PC's that literally blow them both out of the water, why get your panties in a bunch over which is more powerful? It's pretty much a wash, with the Xbox 360 looking better in the majority of games due to easier development on the system. And you know, even if the PS3 is slightly more powerful, who cares if the end result developers can't utilize it due to the way it's setup? Xbox 360 owners are getting a better experience in 90% of the games they play.
don't feed the troll rev
The OP should never be allowed to post on the internet ever again...
Demigod on the Xbox 360 would be difficult to control - 4 abilities? 4 items? minions? The buying and upgrading interface alone would be a nightmare!
Demigod would also then become playable only for North American gamers, or gamers playing non-english versions of the game thanks to the Match Making system employed by Xbox Live. With the exception of Halo 3 and CoD:WoW, which use location as the priority for their games, match making fails to deliver anything other than horribly laggy games - hence me not renewing my inital Xbox Live subscription.
Demigod is a PC centric game by design - moving it over to the Xbox 360 or PS3 would be as disasterous as the Supreme Commander port.
Clearly trolling. Probably gets off on it. Probably thinks it's acceptable conduct.
You do know IBM made the PS3's processor and the 360's processor and they said they are pretty much the same. The cell is a beast for number crunching (like folding@home or decoding HD Videos) but for general CPU power the 360 is better. THey both are about the same. The GPU and the memory architecture separate teh two of them. 360 has a slight edge in both those areas. But in the end the 360 is just a little better in terms of gaming power, but not that it really makes a big difference. As I said earlier the reason I did not include the PS3 in saying DG would be better on the 360 is because the 360 has better online support APIs than the PS3. PS3 devs have to do more work to get it working...so we would have the same issue as DG on the PC.
Yeah, that's what I was referring to (video card referrence), and like you said, at the end of the day it really doesn't make a difference as they are about equal in terms of power and game performance.
I think the only real significant hardware advantage the PS3 has over the 360 is it's blueray player.
You're looking at one aspect: piracy...every other aspect imaginable would have made this game horrible on a console...Use your brain before you post.
There's a reason why RTS-type games do not apply well to consoles people....(and if you need to ask..well..dont bother)

Butthurt. Also I think burden of proof falls on you, since you are the one disagreeing with him.
You should take these silly arguments where they are welcome and stop spreading the cancer.
I believe Halo Wars is a fun Console RTS game. THe key is making it simple...and if they can do Halo Wars I'm certain this game would be really easy to do (in terms of controls). You need to think outside of the box sometimes and discover there are ways to improve things. And no it's not only piracy, it's also the online infrastructure of XBOX Live, the VOICE CHAT for communicating with your team, the friends system for partying up, etc...
BUt yes there would be some disadvantages to all those advantages...for example, you'd use a controller to click instead of a mouse.
Demigod COULD work on consoles, it certainly doesn't involve as much heavy micro and macro management as other RTS, however, it would be incredibly forced and hard to work with. The game would have to be much slower to compensate for the lack of precision and speed of a mouse and keyboard...
It would work, it would just suck.
Maybe if Xbox 360 would support a god damned MOUSE AND KEYBOARD
It's USB for christ's sake!
PS I wub my 360
