Cheers.
If anyone has questions you can post here, send a PM, or catch me on Demigod my name is Gyli until the name change is allowed.
link not working, it says page doesnt exist
EDIT
Works fine now, cheers
Tested the link out myself and it's working. Though I edited the post and relinked it for added assurance and it's still working for myself. Let me know if it still doesn't work and in case it still doesn't here is the link to the guide itself.

Very nice guide, well written i can say.
If i can just point out somethings IMO could be more usefull.
Since its a 5 page guide it would be a good idea on the skill build on page 3 to put a small explanation next to each skill. I know you explained the skills in the previews page but players that dont know the names and no nothing about the demigod will have to go back and forth and read it again.
In you item listing you dont list any idols. I for one am pretty much unsure when and which of the 12 to get. Do i get the second siege one to start harrasing some towers early on or do i wait to get the most expensive one? Do i skip siege and get the melee one or priests help more.
Giving some more info on the minions usage would be great appriciated.
Also. i tend to think getting one point mist comes usefull in many ways, for example u getting ganked, swarm is on CD and u cant escape fast, 1 point in mist could save you untill you have some one else to help you or untill the CD from bat swarm is up again and u can use it to escape.
What is your thoughts on that?
Overall, as i said before, very nice guide, good work:)
GJ! Im not gonna lie i didnt read it all because its long as hell but what i did read seemed good
Great guide!
I've only playing Erebus once and it wasn't pretty (Me, A TB and a HORRID Oak VS 2 Unclean beasts and an Oak.. on prison) and I think I'm gonna give him another shot.
First let me thank you for the kind words, though I'm incapable of controlling which information is placed on which page as I am not the one who places it on the portal. That is the responsibility of the Game Administrator of the Demigod section and to my knowledge the pages are done automatically, but I understand your point and it is a valid one.
The Idol information can be found on my old guide, but the reason that I did not place it into the current guide is due to the fact that I refrain from using them on Erebus since I see no benefit in them anymore as him especially as the type of Erebus I play, but I am willing to explain my point of view and discuss them in this thread.
You are correct in Mist being as a useful function of escaping, but by acquiring the favor item swift anklet your speed increases from 6.3 to 7.2 this means you would be able to escape all the Demigods besides Sedna and Unclean Beast only if they stack movement speed, but even at that a Bite and Bat swarm can ensure safety. Besides you'll need a decent amount of mana regen to support Mist's 125 mana per second drain early and middle game which means you'll have to choose extra mana regen items since the only two I have early and middle game are Scaled Helm and Plenor Battlecrown which is enough to allow for a decent amount of Bites and Bat Swarms and by choosing other mana regen items over the other items on my list you lose out on increased health, mana, attack speed, and dodge through the other items. Which means you have less mana to use Bite and Bat Swarm, less health to survive chasing and one versus one situations, early team engagements, and just in case you mess up in general you'll have the health to recover from that mistake and not provide the enemy a kill.
Granted I'm not saying Mist shouldn't be taken nor useful. I'm just saying Mist isn't required to escape situations as long as you're aware of your surroundings when using the listed builds in the guide. Saving yourself a point skill point.
This is an awesome guide, loved the read through But yea, dont forget there are lots of ways to use Erebus - you can put points in any skill with him and still be successful - Mist can be very useful in certain builds/situations, but useless in others.
Thank you for the kind words.
Dalzk is correct though there are various ways to play Erebus, my guide just defines the type of items and build I use while offering information, Strategies, and Techniques.
Very good guide... if only I played Erebus!
You should give him a try.
He pisses me off too much fighting against him, wouldn't want to put others through the same punishment
He isn't as bad as people make him out to be. You just need to learn his weaknesses and take advantage of them.
I wouldn't recommend
Banded Armor (550 gold)Scaled Helm (550 gold)
As first items... You don't care about armor with Erebus bite, and purchasing monk idol is way better in my opinion as you'll be able to face 2 DG directly in the early game with those and bite.
So in priority, buy monks, and then take an helm giving mana (i take the one costing 1500G) it'll allow you to spam bite and mass charm to kill non stop.
Another thing wrong in what you describe :
You advice the combo : bat swarm -> mass charm -> bite.
Here again that's not ok at all. You must keep mass charm to prevent the DG to teleport or if there are many others DG with the DG you wanna kill. If he is alone, you most of the time don't need to mass charm until he tries to teleport.
And another point is you don't recommend to take idols which in my opinion is here again an important thing with a general, even if you are assassin spec. Minautor and arche often take damage instead of you dyuring battle so it's a good way to avoid being focused by towers and all creeps at the time.
And finally : You NEED boot of speed !!!!! You absolutly need it to kill escaping DG, to move more freely around the map and all !!! (Unless you have others items with speed boost)
Here is my suggestion as the items to pick in priority :
Idol monkPlenor BattlecrownBoot of speedAnd there if you really need mana, take the crown at 1750G and then keep your money until you can take the crown at 6250G or so (the 25% mana reduction aura is the most important thing to be god like with Erebus)And after, priorities again the boot a 6250G to have more speedThen the level 4 monk idol and the others lvl 4 idols to have better damage deal and regen. With those items, you are quite invincible in 1vs1 or 1vs2 because if you played well, you should have killed many others DG, having better stuff than them, having a better level than them and so, being godlike for them.
My two cents
I see no mist. Mist is awesome as it turns you invulnerable for a short time. I've actually acheived quite a few kills thanks to mist (largely against slow moving characters like Rook)
As first items... You don't care about armor with Erebus bite, and purchasing monk idol is way better in my opinion as you'll beable to face 2 DG directly in the early game with those and bite.
+400 Health, +5 Health Per second, +525 Mana, +4 Mana Per second are reasonable increases early game. Your Bite is only a 300 heal and you don't start with a large amount of mana. By purchasing the Banded Armor and Scaled Helm first you increase your survivability early game. With that increase I've been able to taken on 2 Demigods with those items and Bite since I have higher survivability that most Demigods on the field at that point.
It's situational if a Demigod thinks he can take you. You're not going to want to wait until the last second to use Mass Charm especially if you have muddle to increase their cool downs by 100% while you fight them.
There is no point for Idols in my opinion if your going against a Demigod he isn't going to focus on your idols he's going to focus on you. Bat Swarm will instant kill the minotaurs, archers, priests, and just about finish the Catas leaving you the giants which will be hurt from the Bat Swarm. You shouldn't be taking much damage from creeps because of Bat Swarm and your Night Walkers that you can easily spawn and use to take damage from the creeps if necessary as well as the tower saving you mana from summoning Idols and money from purchasing Idols.
You don't need boots of speed. Erebus already has one of the highest base movement speed. He starts with a base movement speed of 6.3 the speed anklet favor item will give you 7.2 movement speed if you take it. Bite reduces movement speed by 30%. Bat Swarm has a range of 30 yards you'll be fine catching up to and escaping from Demigods. Save yourself a 1000 gold and increase your survivability.
With my suggest items you are quite invincible as well and it has been shown when playing with TheUnholyones and other players. Though there are other ways to play him. In my opinion the heal of the priests isn't necessary, but optional as they only heal 13% of your health when not buffed by Sedna. Besides your minions aren't going to last against a well played Torchbearer or other Demigods.
Again Mist is one way you can play Erebus, but I don't use Mist when I use him. Sure it turns you invulnerable for a while, but I see no benefit to placing one point into it or a couple points into it. Yes, you can score kills from Mist depending on how low on health a character since and where you use Mist. Rook might be caught in it due to his slow movement, but a Rook that stacks on movement speed and uses the Wand of speed won't have much trouble passing by. Sedna won't have trouble, Unclean Beast won't have trouble, Oak won't have trouble. So it's all situational on how effective Mist is because it depends on the level of Mist and where you place your Mist and how you use it. Some people say it's good for escaping and I agree with them, but as I say many times if you stay aware of your surroundings there will be no reason to depend on Mist for escaping if you have Bat swarm and a watchful eye.
ViridShaman: One important thing about mist tho is that it takes away the effect of spit and (I think) other negative effects which can be rather useful
That's a good point. Mist has saved me several times from the UB spit and the Rook hammer.
Is it just me or should Generals ALWAYS get monks first. ONE they give you extra damage. TWO they give you healing, very useful in the start of the game. With that then using Lord Erebus vampric bite its a deadly combination for any first encounters with enemy demigod.
Yes its true that monks are good for him early game but they have limits. I used my build against some1 exploiting idols at lvl 1 and he had tons of them. Surely enough, about lvl 4 (which i still hit before him) he couldnt harm me. So it is useful for a few lvls but turns out ton be a bad starting investment. As virid said up there, banded armor and scaled helm are extremely useful starter items.
Thank you for the guide. I'll be sure to try Erebus. IMO, it's good to know at least 3 strong demigods. Why? Because each demigod can counter another demi so if you know how to play all 3 styles defensive ,pushing and attacking(QoT/Rook/Erebus). You and your teammate might have a better chance of winning. A demigod counter is what neccessary to win I think.
This guide was THE BUSINESS .
I had been playing as Lord E and ben doing pretty good, but this guide gave me the ideas to take him to the max.
Of course, people have their preferences and such about what items to start with , or they want some specific skill that's not recommended, but I'll say that if you take this guide as a start and practice and tweak it, if gives great advice on how to be a monster endgame.
I very much enjoyed it, thanks for taking my game to the next level!
Yes, 1 point in Mist seems unavoidable to me for 3 reasons :
- Remove negative effects, priceless.
- Allows you to wait for team mate if ganked / in a pinch
- Gives nice retreat option. Bat swarm or TP scroll on CD ? Just mist a couple of seconds, 95% of the time the ennemy DG will start focusing on something else which gives you 1 sec to get out of mist -> Bat Swarm -> TP out.
I admit I played Erebus only twice, but I've been observing a lot of good Erebus players and they piss me off
