Star Trek: Voyager is a good show. Almost as good as the best example of Star Trek, that is, in my opinion, Star Trek: The Next Generation.Star Treck: Voyager DVD, like other Star Treks, is a science fiction show with a heavy component based on drama. In my opinion, the science fiction elements are just the start engine and the spice used to create a developed stage to show the watcher how human behave in certain situations, like betrayal, love, prejudice, quest for power and many more. Some characters are good, but unfortunately they are only the minority. And the doctor is too hard to believe, despite I think he is the best character in the show.Overall the episode quality is good, but there are some episodes that drop the quality solidly. Unfortunately they are a good part of the show.Star Treck: Voyager series isn't the best Star Trek, but it is one that is faithful to its origin. And one that is fun to watch.
I liked Voyager, the Q episodes with Janeway were fun.
I thought it was the worst of the newer one`s. Even worse then Enterprise. They totally destroyed the Borg`s character in that show. Previously, The Borg were unstoppable. They destroyed most of the Fed fleet in a single engagment. Anytime they were defeated was by "luck". They were a true menacing threat. My favorite Star Trek race by far. In Voyager, Somehow Janeway and a small Interpid class ship were able to deal with them. Ugh...That was the end for me.
If you're the only person on Earth that thinks Voyager was worse than Enterprise, I wouldn't be surprised.
Even the music was lame. They ditched the orchestra for a homotastic song.
Voyager's worse than Enterprise, intro music notwithstanding. A lot of people think so. It's honestly not even close IMO. Not that Enterprise is anything extra, of course.
Anyway, DS9's trivially the best series of the franchise, with TNG and TOS tied for second.
Well, I guess if you ask 10 people about whether DS9 was good or crap you'll get 20 different opinions.
I for one would say: Up until the end of the 3rd season it was the cream of the crap. Merely a soap opera in space.
Later on it was still crappy enough at times, but overall it was improving a lot. With Brooks behaving more the way he was as Hawke in Spenser for hire. The last ep however was simply awful.
Voyager is a completely different story though. Utter crap from beginning to end.
Enterprise was quite okay except for the whole Xindi arc. But who on earth came up with the idea of that dog on a space ship?!
TNG is ultimately the best series of the whole franchise IMNSHO.
I hope I`m not going to far off topic here. I think the final TNG episode "All good things" is the best final episode of any series I`ve seen. What a high note to go out on. The way they brought the original TNG crew, The end of the series crew and a future version togeather. Q was there too. I thought that episode was better then any of the movie`s. The latter years of TNG were so good, None of the other series could measure up for me.
I agree. That Xindi season was brutal. The 5 or 6 variation`s of the same race was terrible. Especially the aquatic one. Just terrible.
Yeah, I don't judge a show by only the best season. Voyager started meh and went retard for half the run, Enterprise went fucking nuts. On a stupidity scale of 1-10, they said fuck it, lets go for 20 and make everyone stop watching before the finale. Good concept, decent initial execution, omfg bad assraping of the series by the end of it. Fortunately since so few people watched the show wind down, they didn't cause too much damage to society.
The only problem with DS9 as the best is that it's not really Star Trek. Other than that it's got it in the bag, less retard moments than any of the others.
The best thing about ST:V is....

I hated Enterprise, partially but not only because somehow Archer reminded me of former president Bush. The intro music was horrible, the Xindi/temporal cold war story arcs were completely unbelievable, and aside from a few good episodes, most of them were either breaking with existing canon or simply over the top unrealistic.
Only truly good points IMO were that they continued the ST tradition of amazingly played and interesting doctors, and the special effects.
Voyager I found alot better. Sure a large part of the episodes were cloaked soaps, and sure I hated how they screwed the Borg, but it had some absolute jewels. The Hirogen WW2 holodeck hijack, the 30 (or 60 or 90 or whatever) Days of Hell storyarc, etc.. Some interesting character developments as well, and The Doctor has to be my favorite ST character ever after McCoy
Indeed Seven was the best of the whole show. But my guess is that this is exactly why they brought her in. They were afraid that otherwise the show would be cancelled due to dropping rates prematurely.
Ok, I understand how and why people hate enterprise, but I only like it because it explains a lot about the founding of the federation.
but really people like ds9 because of the battle scenes, I mean when have you ever seen in star trek, several thousand ships goes hopeless than for some odd reason they seem to win, and as for tng, best series after tos which is still the best.
It kinda a shame that star trek will never be as it was as before, sure we can go back to the ds9 or before that, but it wouldn't be star trek without Majel (the computer voice)
Indeed. Moment of silence for Majel!
Anyway, yes. Voyager is quite good. Though the quality of episodes over the seasons is almost like a gaussian curve. All the best episodes are in the 4th season (right in the middle of Voy's 7 seasons). Including the last episode of Season 3, which is Scorpion Part 1. It also has Message In a Bottle (EMH is sent on the Prometheus, awesome), The Killing Game 1 and 2 (Nazis in Star Trek once again ), Year of Hell 1 and 2 (Kurtwood Smith ftw.). Those are the most significant but the 4th season also has other great episodes. (Lord Tareq pointed them out too.)
I also like DS9 the best, but it's hard to decide between TNG, DS9 and VOY, for me. DS9 has the continuous, more epic story line and of course the battles... and I really like most of the characters of DS9, especially Garak, Odo, Quark and Sisko. TNG has the best "Star Trek flair", with its idealism and aesthetics (I still like the Galaxy class way, way more than the Souvereign class) and also likeable characters (except maybe Wesley ). VOY is kind of a mixture. Good episodes, good battles, good characters (like the Doctor, 7of9, Tuvok and also Janeway).
ENT does not exist for me. Period.
Jeri Ryan...oh yeah baby. VOY didn't get good till she came into the show.
And DS9 FTW!!
i try not to compare shows to other shows
Like Comparing SG1 to atlantis..
or voyaer to say..DS9
i liked voyager on an individual level, and i dont care about lore that much..enterprise was more harmful to that lore anyhow with those borg episodes
In my book,
1. DS92. TNG3. TOS4. Enterprise5. Voyager
DS9 was by far the best ST show. It ran for 7 seasons and all of them were good. And for the first time we saw large space battle and it showed the darker side to ST. Even the pilot episode (Emissary) was amazing.
TNG was the second best ST show. It also ran for 7 seasons but not all of them were good. The first season was pretty bad, it wasnt until the 3rd season that the show really started to pick up. TNG also did have the best last episode of any TV shows.
I never really liked the TOS, it groundbreaking for its time but many of the episodes are just too cheese now. I dont enjoy watching them anymore.
Enterprise was a step back, literally. Some episodes were fun but most were just plain terrible, its like the show didn't know what direction to take!
Voyager was the worst of them all. The show didn't make any sense, they always had enough food/supplies/Torpedoes. They took on the Borg by themselves. They always could repair their ship "somehow" (when the Enterprise went into battle it needed to go back to a starbase/shipyard for repair, but not Voyager, oh no, Voyager can magically repair its hull/systems). The characters were bad, very bad. I hated all of them: Neelix, the Doctor, Harry, Janeway, Chakotey, Paris, Tuvok and especially 7of9. The only good one they had was Kes and she left in the beginning.
Thats just your opinion. In mine the first three seasons were crap.
I must be the only one in the world that loved Enterprise. I just loved the ship and the way they handled themselves as being the first to be out there. I thought that archer was just great. I'm not saying it,s the best series just that I enjoyed it very much. it always makes me laugh when I hear people say they broke with canon... who cares if they break from canon. TOS never followed they own rules and we all loved it. How many times did they follow the prime directive back in the times of Kirk... I think they broke that rule in all the episodes LOL
For me it's TNG PICARD is the very best captain of all times. In season 3 and after you could feel him just by looking at his face.
After it's DS9 for the dark side of Star trek
Then its Enterprise
TOS
and finally Voyager. Borg are sisies just destroyed the show for me. So did 7 of 9. I just wish neelix was thrown out the nearest airlock.
I can't wait to see the next movie, and be ready to hear... WHAT!!!! THEY BROKE WITH CANON ASSHOLES!!!!!
I'm still half-certain it was that "homotastic" credits tune that put a curse on Enterprise. Between that and the sort of channel homelessness it suffered, I never really tried watching it in broadcast even though I was still trying to watch a few shows on someone else's schedule back then. Thankfully, you can avoid that sort of dreck with a DVD player.
Being picky is a big part of my professional life, so I can dress down any ST whatever if I really need to. But just around the house, I almost never do rank-ordered lists and have a great degree of 'tolerance' for the foibles of serial TV production so I try to think of completed series in 'big picture' terms. The ST shows are essentially one big series currently on hiatus, and whatever nit you prefer to pick with them, IMO there's no arguing that they offered a lot of decent SF to a world that mostly has to suffer stupid monser movies being called SF instead of getting something actually thought-provoking.
And yes, 7 of 9 is more than simply hot. She's diva hot, with a sweet SF sauce on top. Damned neat character and a damned sturdy actor.
If anything it will definitely be funny and entertaining on its own.
TOS was and is my favorite. I can still watch them.
TNG I loved when it was on. I also agree it had a good finale. That said I can't watch them now because it seems way too cheesy.
Enterprise. I really liked the idea and was with them until the Xindi arc. The direction of the show just seemed to be a version of TNG only on a smaller ship. It's too bad because I liked the direction of season 4 where they explored the origins of old cannon like, why didn't early Klingons have forhead ridges and such. They had some nice three part shows toward the end.
Voyager was good except for Nelix and the holodeck. Gag, those Captain Neutron episodes or whatever they were. Hey, after the uppteenth holodeck malfunction you'd think they'd just make the thing off limits.
DS9 was great all through. Every charactor was interesting and it had great story arcs. The Klingon civil war, The Dominion.
lol, so true. There was no need for the Federation to fight the Dominion, all the Federation had to do is sell the holodecks to the Dominion, it would have killed most of the Jem'Hadars.
Voyager was awesome.
Kim: Captain, the hull is breached on decks 4, 9, and 12!
Janeway: Keep hailing them, I'm sure we can resolve it peacefully!
Tuvok: I estimate we can withstand their continuous, noninterrupted, heavy barrage of phasers, torpedoes, spacial charges, and telepathic pulses for only another twelve point six seconds.
Err sorry that's spock...
Tuvok: Capitain, we've lost phasers.
Janeway: Keep hailing them! Tell them we're just trying to get home!
Kim: Casualties reported on decks 2, 3, and 7.
Janeway: Keep trying to contact them!
One minute later...
Janeway: Get us out of here! Evacuate the bridge!
Not that I didn't like it, but that particular scene got a little old .
I got my eyes on some DVD collections in a not so far past and guess what i wanted to buy and bought;
Voyager season-6 (or 5 & 4)... and all four of Enterprise, just for the Kzinti saga & the sufficating small range of the ship itself.
Cuz, it's not what any of these shows meant but when & where they took place in the Star Trek "phenomemal" sci-fi context.
DS9 was your usual static soap opera on a station with a worm-hole close enough to Bajor & Cardassia and to make it dramatic & targeted by the Dominion & their Jem Hadar puppets. Spice it all up with an esoteric quest for prophets and shape-shifting founders and they simply got enough storylines to SUSTAIN seven loooooooong seasons.
TNG was the re-birth of exploration with a diplomatic twist.
TOS was and still is the best of all series combined. Beam me up Scotty.
I liked Voyager for the struggle and the return home emergency. But, a *LOT* more because of its scientific premises and how two stranded crews needed to join forces against all odds and the complete unknown. Spice it all up with the incredible actress mentioned above and you know what or where the Borgs are. My favorite episodes are Think Tank, Relativity & the Catapult!
Kathryn Janeway overwhelmingly outsmarted every Captains found in any of the above series. Fiction or not.
To which i can only refer you to; Year of Hell.
