Can anyone help?
My mate and i just bought demigod so instead of having both of us download it he downloaded it then just shared it to me over LAN (saved us from downloading it twice) but now when i go play online it says i need the update i click ok it then opens up ImpulseNow and tries to tell me that demigod isnt installed and it trys to download the whole 2.88 gig game again.
so my question is this. do i have to put demigod somewhere in the ImpulseNow folder to realise i have it or what?
cheers
You used impulse archive function ?
Need archive the game(right click on game installed shwoing in impulse my games , copy the archive file made under /programdata/Stardock/Impulse/archive/ or /backup/ cant check now and on other computer from impulse use restore archive file function.
I'm on Windows Vista, and I downloaded Demigod through Impulse. The default install directory is:
Program File > Stardock Games > Demigod
Mine seems to update fine. Assuming Impulse works the same way as Steam does, once the game is in the default directory when it's added to your Impulse's list of the games - add product or whatever it's called - it's verified and updated.
If you just copied over the Program Files, you need to update the registry (You can copy the registry keys from a legitimate version, takes about 30 seconds). If you don't know how to do this then you can delete it and do the archive way. Note that to unpack an archive you need to be logged in as the same account that made the game on impulse, my friends and I struggled with that (Hence we worked out the registry way).
Archive is the best way (as long as you are on teh same OS).
some helpful things here cheers ill give some a try.
just a heads up im on vista 64bit and he is on XP home
You can also try downloading it from Impulse Anywhere:
http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com/
This is how I installed it, and it worked great. Just make sure that you copy all files to a hard drive partition with enough space before running the install. It takes all the small files and compounds them into one large one, so if you don't have the space, or are running it off a burned DVD, the process will fail.

i would love to be able to try the REGEDIT way (if thats what ur talking about) but for some odd reason my mates Impulse is saying he hasnt installed it either... dunno whats going on now. it was fine before (especially seeing as how he was the one who downloaded it in the first place)
I know this might be a huge ask but if someone can show me their Reg settings would really appreciate it
ohhh my gawsh thanks so much this is 100x better that DL the shit off impulse...
thank u so much!
I just realised on top of the page it says Impulse Anywhere [Beta] does that mean its BETA for the impulse anywhere DL or BETA clients that are download?
The Impulse Anywhere is what's beta. The game will not be. As I said, this is how I installed it (I downloaded it from work, which has a very fast connection), then brought it home on a DVD, installed, and it worked with no problem. You will need Impulse installed on the computer that you're putting Demigod on.
I don't know which version of Demigod is currently on Impulse Anywhere, so you may have to use Impulse to download the patch they released a few days ago.
awsome thanks heaps for ur help. downloading all the shit now. hope all goes well.
just a quick question have u been successfull in updating ur game and stuff by using this method?
Yes. I used Impulse Anywhere on release day. A few days after that, when Stardock released the patch, Impulse updated Demigod on my home PC with no problem.
It's quite a fantastic addition to Stardock's electronic distribution system. Otherwise, I would've either had to a] wait until I got home that day to install, do it overnight, and not play until the next day, or, b] Download and actually INSTALL it at work via Impulse, then use the archive function to get it home.
awsome well thanks again for ur help.
have some karma
Thanks, and for the record, it looks like Impulse Anywhere holds the patched versions of Stardock's stuff. Right now it's at Demigod version 1.00.048 from April 16, the same version that's on Impulse itself.
