The reason I play as no one but the Advent is because I find the voice acting for the TEC and Vasari annoying. That's really all there is to it. The TEC voices are grating, though the Kol Battleship voice is awesome. The Advent never seem to have enough of any resource in the early to early-mid game, so I would like to be able to play the other two races. I would really like to play Vasari more, they seem really cool and have awesome looking capital ships, but after hearing the Desolator's voice, I simply said "no"...
Heh not so long ago I saw a thread by a guy who only played Advent because he found the voices to be hot.
I'm really deep into an Advent game right now but does anyone remember if the Cobalt Frigate still has the surfer dude voice?

I don't think the TEC ships are that bad. Certainly they don't even register on the level of the Vasari... or the desolator for that matter.
I don't mind Vasari voices. The Desolator sounds pretty evil, but is much better then the TEC voices.
The Marza and Kol sound alright though.
Part of the tradition of epic spac e opera sci fi is the bad voice acting

The devastator and marza voice acting is hysterical! It sounds like they've let a pro-wrester take the helm, or something.
I can definately empathise with the opening post. TEC are my faction of choice, though invariably I find myself building a Kol or Akkan first purely because they have the best voice set, and setting them to fleet leaders so I don't have to listen to others... Especially the Cobalt surfer dudes.
This threat is cool. I play Advent a lot, but there are voices in every race that just make me go into panic-crazy-mode. Vasari are worst, of course
But this psychadelic Unity gibberish of the Advent make almost up for that. TEC has the cooles voices I think. Have you ever ordered a colony frigate to attack something? 'We'll do what we can, hehe...'
Ehh, I play vasari exclusively and probably will until I master it. I played the others just to see what their ship/tech are like. I don't even remember the advent voices, but the TEC voices are waaay too much of a 'don't ask so we don't have to tell' kind of military. Read that as the crews are all male and nobody minds missing a port.
The first time i built a desolator and it started complaining I was like "Wtf?! you're my bitch!"
I believe in Entrenchment they changed the cobalt voice, and possibly others. The cobalt is definitely different.
Yeah, in Entrenchment the Cobalt got new voice acting. It definetly sound better, although it is still a little annoying. I'm pretty sure it was the only ship to change, though.
I almost never play the Advent, because their voices annoy me more than any of the others. I can live with the TEC and Vasari voices, but something about the Advent ones...

the vasari sound like the pissed off offspring of an angry midget raped by some kind of insect or reptile..
tec does kinda sound like they are the navy in space if ya know what i mean and..
advent sounds like a bunch of whores "we will do what we can"
point being, they all have some flaws so just go with whatever race you like playing

I personally dont mind the TEC voices, I would have to say that the ogrov is my favorite though

Now that you mention it, the Rapture Battlecruiser's voice is awfully cute and not as psychotically hell-bent on revenge as the other capital ships. And every time a Seeker asks "What needs revealing?" or says "All shall be revealed"... If the Advent are as good looking as their voices suggest, there are plenty of things I would like revealed, that's for sure.

Haha, I also find Vasari voices to sound like they've been burning though too many packs a day. There are only a few smokes away from the cancer kazoo.
And can we please get a real voice for the Advent fighters and bombers? At least the TEC have them. I would also like to see some type of voice with the Starbases. The sound of machinery is nice, but it gets old.
That's the main reason why TEC is so wonderful. The Protev voice is so cute!

Really, the faction's voices can have an affect on which side I play. I feel guilty using Advent because the Seeker Vessel sounds like a little girl, which then will blow up. And all Vasari voices give me headaches, though ATTACK is always nice to hear.
But the Sova Carrier and Protev Frigate make playing TEC so fun. Their voices are wonderful.
But the Advent strikecraft are drones, aren't they? Why would drones have voices? Voices for starbase would be nice, though.
