I see reports of "bad connectivity". But please understand, when we play the game with people online it works perfectly so we need to try to understand specifically what you're seeing.
So when you say "I can't get into a multiplayer custom game" for instance, what specifically do you mean?
Can you bring up the connectivity dialog? What does it say?
That kind of thing. The more you tell us, the quicker we can resolve it.
See http://forums.demigodthegame.com/347467 for where we're at.
Thanks!
Still unable to connect to Panthenon despite using proxyserveronly - keep getting the matchmaking service failed.

I've only had the game for 4-5 days now, so I don't know if I could connect before that patch. My router is an Apple Airport Extreme, and I'm starting to agree with you that the router is to blame, because I downloaded portforward.com's port-checking program and it's saying the port isn't open. Guess I'll try taking my problem to the Apple forums.
This game is an embarrassing experience for a gamer. To like something so much and just not be able to play it because of how crappy the connection process has been implemented. Makes me wish I had not bought the game. Better to just not know it's here than have to watch post after post failure WHILE I am trying and failing to connect to a game.
And for those people who 'connect' just fine, whatever. Just not believable based on my experience with this game.

i understand the rage at this moment but i keep on hoping that they still are working a little on the netcode even tho it looks like its very close to final
i have been using most of the day seeing if i could get a new router but thats not easy at all... my isp have a few routers that i can use as modem with the internet i have, but can not order any before monday. and even then its the same brand just a newer model so dont know if it will help at all.
all u other guys also get to the part where its trying to connect to a "random picked" game and u can see the persons in the game, there it just stops and after a while it shows the nat facilitator error right?
and proxy helps me not at all!!!
After the May 22nd update Connection issues are really bad!
I don´t know what happened with the update but trying to connect to 30 games I only had 2 good connections and 1 of them froze in midplay..
Hello,
I bought this Game today, after some Offline Matches, I tried to play it online. I regristrated the Serial Number, made an Account and tried to join a game, first I just couldn't connect to any player, after turning Firewall off, there stands for a while "Waiting for connection data" and then "Cannot connect to a NAT facilitator. Please try again later."
I have a o2DSL Surf & Phone Router
Help pls
regards
u are not alone that is all the help or comfort u can have teacHa-
It has been working mostly OK until today.. I guess it had to do with the last update
This last update is complete crap. I had _NO_ connection issues what-so-ever until today. Nada. I'd always be the first player to connect to all the otehr players... I'm on a lightning fast connection.
Today, I get into a skirmish or a pantheon, it tkes forever to make a match, and when I do I connect to everyone except *ONE* asshat thats sitting there connected to no one. At 8:40 CST tonight those two someones are Farnigus and Mephisto249.
They jsut sit there, connecting to no one, and the match eventually fails after 5-10 minutes. I've given up and keep hitting cancel if the match doesnt completel reasonably fast.
How is this happening? I'm a coder by profession. How are players getting in and poluting the matchmaking pool when they can't connect to anyone? I'd fire the guys that work under me if they released something like this. There should be some kind of sanity test here... this is jsut rediculous.
Its a great game. Tons of potential. The jacked up network code is horrible. I'm sure it has to do with impropper NAT settings by some people.. but for goodness sakes sanity check those connections and bounce them before they enter the pool!

this proxy is absolutely useless.
before this proxy i couldnt connect, now i can connect veeeery slowly and after ppl see ping=400ms they kick me.
i still thinking what piss me off more... time when i couldnt connect or when ppl kick me out ...
still Demigod game in store... still impossible to play.
to developers: i dont rly understand form which part of your bodies your hands growing, i didnt see before any game with such crazy troubles with connect...
ps: thx for proxy its sux.
Can anyone clarrify if the proxy was ever ment to help people who have unexplained ping spikes of up to 1K+ ? Or was it just put in for people who couldnt connect atall ??
And if its the latter, is there anything being done (be it a fix or still investigation) about the ping spikes ?
I have used Port forwarding with the correct ports, Inserted the /serverproxyonly command in the targetline of the shortcut, and inserted the ports into the impulsereaction.exe and still I get an excess of 10k ping when connecting with players. Sometimes I cannot even connect to a game because it takes forever for me to connect with other players. Im sorry to say but this whole p2p system is flawed. It only accomidates some people. What happens to the average joe who doesnt know anything about computers and this port forwarding stuff who just wants to buy the game and play online. Not saying that I am in that catergory but as a consumer I can see how frustrating it would be. Reading a magazine review on this game and looking at how badass it is and then having jump through hula hoops to try to get it to work afther dishing out cash. Its honestly absurd. Im really really hoping this next patch pulls through. If not I hope you guys drop this whole p2p system and adopt a server side system or this game will die fast. So if there is anything else im missing please tell me because ive tried everything the support has posted. And I still get 10k ping while trying to connect with players. Ive only played ONE online game since buying this. Step it up guys. The game is hella fun and great gameplay etc. But if you dont do something fast this game is gonna die. And that will suck.
I have to add my voice to the crowd of folks who were not having any problems before but are completely unable to play now. That's Skirmishes, Custom games, Pantheon, nothing over the 'net. The only thing that works here now is local LAN play. The problem that I suspect is that we are three players in the same household using one Internet connection. Here are the details:
Three high-end gaming rigs, one running XP Pro fully patched and SP'd, two running Vista Ultimate, again fully patched. We are using a Linksys BEFSR81 router with firmware 2.51.3. When I check the router I see that it has automatically set up port forwarding (I never touched it) on the following ports:
6100-6200 and 6073-6074, Both UDP and TCP
Note: we have 3 Xbox Elites in the house and play a lot of console games, too. The XBox has a Network Connection routine that will check your router and "rate" your router's NAT settings compatibility according to three ratings: "Strict", "Moderate" and "Open". They have a list of conforming routers on their web site that will provide "Open" NAT settings and warn that anything less may lead to connection problems. I specifically hunted down this router because it is on Microsoft's compatibility list and when we use it and run Microsoft's test, all 3 of us get an "Open" rating. We have great XBox gaming (currently loving Sacred II, by the way).
When any one of us plays a Custom game or Skirmish, we can join games fine (subject to whatever problems any of the other players have). If the three of us (who all bought a copy) try to create a 3x3 custom game, for example, it tanks. We get set up reasonably ok in the lobby with the usual waiting and watching people try to connect, but once we're set up and launch the game there is an inordinate delay for 2-3 minutes, after which we inevitably hear the "A Player has left the Game" annoucnement and someone has turned into an AI. Usually it's one of us and the one of us that got booted is now playing against all AI in her own game, while the rest of us in our game are connected fine (including my son and I), while my wife's player has been substituted with an AI. This is both with and without the proxy switch on the command line. With the switch, of course, the pings go up into the 250-300 range (I imagine because the connection is being routed through your midwest offices).
We play zillions of online multiplayer games, that's all we ever play. Including other P2P and client/server games. We've played D2 for years, Titan Quest, Sacred, and this is the only game in which we are experiencing any of these problems.
Hope that helps. And I hope you can get over this. I'm a little surprised and disappointed that you gave everyone the Memorial Day weekend off, when so many of your new users are going to try this out. When I was running a software company I don't think a single programmer on our team would have wanted to leave their code in this state, they would have stayed until this was working. This is make or break time for your game, the word on the street is already "Great game, sucks over the Internet". That's like a failed MMO launch, you only get one chance, so I really question the time-off call. Well, good luck whatever happens.
There's always Sacred II on the XBox (did I mention what a cool game that is)?
Weird, but nice! After re-installing it with english version this time, it kinda works! I can connect with online games now !
After the last 2 patches the connectivity problems have become much worse for me. Before it would connect to all the other users very quickly without any problems, other then the game crashing to desktop after a 3rd match or something. Now you get a 4 player match tops on pantheon and there always seems to be 1 person who can't connect, so you sit there for 5mins until everyone gets tired of it an leaves. It almost seems like a backwards transition, like I'm playing the game a week after launch. I am using a linux server as a router, with all the ports forwarded correctly as well.
The more people i connect to the more my MS goes up. I was in a lobby with 1 person today waiting for people to join and my ping was at at steady 70ms. As soon as more people started to connect my ping began to skyrocket to the thousands and then i was kicked. Also when i join a game that has lets say 4 people already in lobby my ping shoots up to almost 10k at times. And they are in my location which is US East. How can I play multiplayer? serouisly..i would like to enjoy this game. The game that I bought. As i stated before i already port forwarded and used the proxy parameter in my target line. I Use verizon DSL and have a westell 6100 modem/router which i already port forwarded and am running in DMZ mode. Should i disable nat? I also have the ports in UDP mode only. This is my speed test for my connection. I dont have any optimium package from verizon its just the cheapest DSL I can get in my area. I play EVERY other Multiplayer game perfectly fine execpt for this one.

Now i know its a bit slow but if it can work for every other game it should be able to work for this game. And if you are only targetting a specific group of people with amazing connections then you need to serouisly rethink a new multiplayer connectivity system. screw the 2 second delay.
Hi,
most of the time, people stays on "attempt to connect sioukev" but never succeed. Sometimes, Some can connect to me, I don't know why.
I can connect to the others but they can't connect to me. I have DSL and I'm in France.
UDP Ports 6000 to 6200 are open on my dsl box. I tried without any firewall and the problem was the same.
Yesterday, I d'ont know why, I succeeded in playing 1 game against 2 other guys but that was the one and only time I played against other people.
I have no problem to play against computer players (of course!)
I even reinstalled my whole PC just to be sure it was not something with my system...
I'm really disappointed. I was so impatient to get this game to play online and I just CAN'T !!!
Hi
I also have noticed that with the recent patches (think the may 18 or 21 -patch), connectivity has become nightmare!
*** I have played without heavy problems in beta, have played tons of games since release, without too much problems. So I assume tht my settings were right, since i port-forwarded and played really many games in custom and some in pantheon***
But now, after the patches, the last games i tried to join, I nearly always couldnt connect to someone, ping was green, but 0 ms to him/them, and the connection information said "waiting to connect".
And even worse: In the 10% of the games that we were able to start, cause connection was fine, pings around 100, the game lagged really hard just after the start. Everyone felt it, and one by one everybody quit, cause there were lags of 1 sec every 2 sec!!!!
I do not know if it was me, thta was causing the probs or anybody else, but i since the very last game I started, 10 sec after the start, i got a disconnect to everyone. My Internetconnection is fine, I am able to play other games online with pings around 30/40ms.
I really enjoyed this game, but I feel like now it is dying for me, since i cant play it online. Help me please!
(and sorry for my bad English)
My roommate and I both got the game but we are unable to play online together. We live in an apartment and obviosly share the same internet. Whenever one of us is in a game lobby the other can not join a game lobby. It will just try connecting forever and then eventually it will say it can not connect to NAT facilitator.
I tried to play 3 games tonight (night of 5-27) with some success. First game, 90% through clicked on the item shop and the game instantly shut down with no error message. Second game, 90% through one guy had connection issues, moments later everyone drops. Third game same as second. FRUSTRATING!!! Because I was winning! I haven't had much connection problems prior to last patch. Hope it helps
Sad, but true
I've had seen such a catastrophyc connection problem only on amateur-made WOW fun-freeshards.
It's absolutely unacceptable for a not free2play game. Seems like no testing was made.
Proxies don't even start working when trying to join Panthenon, where the biggest problem is, so that proxies are really useless.
I suppose developers have no self esteem at all to release such an unfinished product.
Just wanted to report that I bought a new DSL router (draytek V2700) which was to replace the DSL o2 router I got with the package. So far I can say that I have had less disconnects/problems and more stable ping. It also highlighted that the socket I was plugged into could not hold ADSL signal well, so after moving it to my master socket all seems well
Although this may not be your exact problem I have had problems with (FREE) routers supplied by providers as they seem to be either poor tech or just broken by design. I would recommend anyone in the UK with ADSL to at least think about changing your router to a 'good one' and plugging it into your master socket.
I noticed a 'feature' in a game recently to do with buying a totem, summon the unit, sell totem, buy totem again then you can then summon more.. Obviously this probably should be in a different section but I'm lazy
JD
I hope soon we'll see ADSL routers marked "Designed for Demigod"
