Even our favourite artists sometimes release a song that makes you think, what was/were he/she/they thinking!?
One of my favourite albums is Synchronicity by The Police but it has one awful song, "Mother"!
Please reply back your thoughts on my example and with more examples.
The Police is not one of my favorites so I can't really comment on yours.. but a couple of mine:
Maria Mena - You're The Only One. This song just annoys me to no end, I always skip it.
Sarah McLachlan - Streaming, Sweet Surrender. Two of her earlier songs so she was still trying to find some footing, but still MEH!
Delerium - Magic. Usually it's easy for me to ignore lyrics, but sometimes they're this bad.
Sleepthief - Fire From Heaven. It just doesn't flow right. Thankfully, it's beat to death by Eurydice, Just Say It, and The Metro.
I could probably go on, but I'll stop here
Edit: To spice it up a bit, I figured for each song I listed, I'd put up a link to another song by the artist that makes up for it. So, here we go:
Maria Mena - Fragile
Sarah McLachlan - Vox and Path of Thorns
Delerium - After All
Sleepthief - Eurydice, Just Say It, and The Metro
* All links go to Grooveshark.com. Awesome site.
"Weird Al" Yankovich - Amish Paradise. WERID voice, and not funny at all.
I would like to hear back from more of you out there.
I'm surprised there haven't been more replies!?
Canadian Idoit by Weird Al, talk about misinformation
Some of the songs on Slipknot's All Hope is Gone album. Slipknot has really begun to slow down the pace of their music, which is a bummer.
"Let me be myself"! by 3 Doors Down
OMG if I hear that one more time on those stupid caveman commercials I may throw one of my flutes thru the TV set!!!!!!!
Their last tour is over... even good bands die. Now if the stones would just do that...
Leader of Men by Nickelback
HERESY! NAY! I even knew where you got your name from (Homestarrunner.com yes?), and you go and bash what has to be one of the most epic songs from my childhood?
Maybe I have a skewed view of this, but I grew up in Lancaster County, PA: The Land of the Amish. My county's name is even in the video! I and just about any other Lancastrian over the age of 15 and under 25 can recite the entire video impromptu. We love it here! I'm sorry, but that's just a dagger to the heart. My avatar is even Wierd Al.
Purge the heathen! Smite him down with all the fury of one thousand amishmen bearing pitchforks, torches, and musketfire!
Back on topic: My favorite band is Aerosmith, but the song I hate the most by them is the only one that ever went #1 on the pop charts. "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" is just not Aerosmith. I have every album by them, and even got tickets to go see them this summer (that is of course until Steven Tyler got hurt and fell off a stage, cancelled the tour, DAMN'T). That song is the only glaring pimple on their work that I can find.
Coldplay - Lost
i feel like it's a boring track on their Viva La Vida album. i skip it too.
OP,
I was going to post the same thing you did! The Police is my favorite group, Sychronicity is my favorite album - and "Mother" is abysmal! My best friend and I still when the phone rings look at each other and say "The telephone is ringing! Is that my mother on the phone?" in the most dismal squawky scream and then we LOL.
(That was the only song on that album not written by Sting IIRC.)
