Hi. I'm using windows Vista.
I've enabled ObjectDock startup options, but it still won't load on start up.
Before all that, i've hidden my desktop icons to craete more space on my desktop. Could this be the problem?
Doesn't sound like that would cause a problem. Which version of OD do you have, xeereex?
Hi. I'm using version 1.90, Build 536
I've had the same issue since yesterday as well, I'm running ver 1.90 on Vista.
Also I tried to uninstall the program from the Vista Uninstall Program window, but it would not uninstall I had to use the uninstall program from the Stardock/Object Dock folder.
I have reinstalled the program twice now and each time I go to use Object Dock, I'm told Windows has closed the program, and I've had to uninstall it so I can get my taskbar back
I am having the same problem. Every thing was working good two weeks ago. Then boom. Now i have to manually start it up after reboot. I use Vista and have the latest build.
OK. I messed around with it and did this.
In Dock contents Tab. I checked Display open windows along with my icons. rebooted my computer and object dock opened on start up.
Not sure why it works now.
That's weird. I haven't tried it yet.
I wish it could work without selecting "Display open windows along with my icons"
one work around is to place a shortcut to objectdock in your startup folder...Not sure if vista has one of these but XP does so i am taking liberties in assuming. Create a shortcut to objectdock.exe then place that shortcut into your startup folder, reboot and it should now run when windows starts
I did not even see anything difference with that checked.
I did this about two weeks ago and when it starts up. It starts up in configuration mode.
Tried it in Vista, and no go, still get the same message
Nothing helps yet. I've just put a quick launch of ObjectDock on my taskbar so i can click on it when i restart my Windows.
There's no way to make it load on Startup.
Try going to Program Files>Stardock>ObjectDock and find the ObjectDock.exe file. Make a shortcut of it and place that in your startup folder. I just tested it from my desktop and it launches the dock and not the config. window. I hope this helps. but mine has always launched at startup so I may be wrong.
There isn't any ObjectDock.exe file in my ObjectDock folder.
Well I've sent the post thread and my problem to tech support, and hopefully they'll have an asnwer as to why Windows Vista keeps shutting ObjectDock down
Try what's in the screen shot.
Stardock suggests turning off firewalls and AntiVirals when downloading it's software...false positives occur and installations get hashed up.
nospamO,Are you using an Acer computer by any chance?
Nice ss there Doc.
Ok, i've reinstalled and copied ObjectDock.exe in Startup folder, but it's still not working.
xeereex Where are you downloading Version 1.90 Build 536 from? Is it the freeware version or OD+? The latest release version is v1.90 Build 535 (at least for plus) If through Impulse,go to preferences and uncheck "Show pre-release versions",uninstall the one you have, run a cleanup program like CCleaner, reboot and install build 535 through Impulse
I have version v1.90 Build 536 and it's freeware. I got it from this site: http://download.cnet.com/ObjectDock/3000-2072_4-10210264.html
I've tried downloading ObjectDock on ObjectDock.com but when i install it, i see Impulse.
Anyway, i've also tried installing ObjectDock with impulse and it works, but it still won't load on startup.
Freeware means OD. I have OD+ so I don't know what the latest OD version/build is, but I think at this point you should run CCleaner or Revo and do as deep a removal of OD as you can.
Then reinstall FROM STARDOCK. Turn off your firewall and and antivirals that you have on. You should do it through Impulse....as it is SD's download/update platform. Object Dock free version is not supported by tech support.
I also got my freeware version from c|net and used it for over a year with no problems. You should follow the good Doctors advice above (remove it completely and reboot) then try downloading it from the Stardock site, LINK just in case there is a problem with the c|net version. Temporarily disable any spyware/AV while installing it.
It should show up in both your startup folder and in Control Panel as a startup program when set to run at startup. It is starting to sound like something on your computer is preventing it from loading at startup to me. Good Luck.
Nope an HP G60 laptop, and I'm using the OD+ ver 1.90
Here is the response I got from Stardocks tech help, and it worked ... only problem is now none of the shortcuts work, and system hangs up and has to be rebooted
Uninstall ObjectDock with the uninstaller. Reboot your computer. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Stardock and if you see an ObjectDock folder delete it. Next you will have to delete another folder but it is hidden. To view it you will need to enable hidden folders/files in Windows. To do this: -Open any folder on your computer (My Computer works, too) -Open Tools->Folder Options (on Vista, hit F10 to see this menu) -Under the 'View' tab, Click the "Show Hidden Files\Folders" option -Click OK out of that dialog Then go to Start>Run (or Start>Start Search in Vista) and paste the following: for XP: %userprofile%\local settings\application data\stardock for Vista: %userprofile%\AppData\local\stardock\ Delete any ObjectDock or ObjectDock Plus folders in this directory. Next, you will have to go into the registry to delete a key. Do this by: -Press the 'Windows' key and the 'r' key at the same time -Type in 'regedit' and press enter -Navigate to the key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\' -If you see a listing for 'ObjectDock' click on it and press the delete key, click yes to the prompt that comes up. Reboot your machine once again and then reinstall ObjectDock
i think i can help u...
ok...firstly u need to rename that file u have found in C:\Program Files\Stardock\ObjectDock\ObjectDock.exe;
rename ObjectDock.exe file same as [shotcut file]; u will found this shortcut file in:
(C:/Users/username/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/Windows/StartMenu/Programs/Startup) <----- hidden file
simply rename n exit, after that..log off your PC n login again..
have a nice day..
this is very simple n easy solution.
i hope it work..
thankz
