This topic is about stunlocking. There is already a topic about it here (http://forums.demigodthegame.com/344297/page/1/#replies), but I thought I make another one to get SD's attention to the problem. There are three main inbalances in this game at the moment that im pretty sure we can ALL agree on:StunlockingThe RookIce TB
Of course there are other ones, but these are definately the three big game breaking ones. Now the Rook and Ice TB have been discussed a lot everywhere else, but I think this stunlocking needs much more attention then its getting. It currently is THE big imba with this game. Get rid of it, and you have a game thats twice as balanced as it was before. Im pretty sure we would all much rather Stuns were slightly UNDERPOWERED than OVERPOWERED as they are now. However, we are aiming for a balance inbetween. Since its such a big imba, I think some pretty big changes are in need.1. When someone is stunned, they cannot be stunned for double the length that they were stunned for. For example, if Rook throws a Boulder Stun at you (which will stun you for 3 seconds), you will have stun immunity for 6 seconds (starting from the seconond you get stunned). Now this was mentioned be Sorian in the other thread (linked above). It was put into a mod and apparently stopped stunlocking and made people THINK about stunning. If this was implemented the WORST that could happen is that stuns would become underpowered. Its an annoying mechanic anyway, so stuns be underpowered is really a MUCH better thing then them being way overpowered. However, I really dont see this making stuns underpowered at all, and imo if anything it would nerf them the perfect amount. And tbh they will never be underpowered...stuns are just OP in their nature I think. The only thing that could make this game fail competitevely atm is Stunlocking as it requires little skill and has huge effects. Things that have huge effects should take huge amount of skill (or at least more). This change would simply stop lame stunlocking, and could do the game NOTHING but good. If anyone can think of a reason not to implement this please post now.
Note: This idea was posted by -Sorian- in the other thread mentioned. Thanks goes to him and Kestrel (for making the other thread).
This method:
1) Prevented stuns from stacking (because the immunity is applied at the same time as the stun).
2) Prevented stun locking.
3) Added a bit of depth to the game because you really had to time your stuns and use them when they would be most effective.
Thats a very good idea. I'd be willing to bet stardock is very aware of this problem and something like this shall be implemented on the day 0 patch. Frogboy seemed pretty confident in the beta tester review thread that while balance is pretty off right now it will be quite good on day 0.
I agree, but I also think stuns shouldn't be any longer than 2 seconds, and excessive stackable snares are an issue that needs to be addressed as well.
Excessive stackable snares are indeed an issue - a big one too. Have been quite a few threads on them, hope they are sorting that out too.I think the only stun that is longer than 2 seconds anyway is Rooks boulder stun...(correct me if im wrong, this is off the top of my head. Ice TB can do stuns for how long?)I just heard that rebound scrolls are gunna be in for the stuns. That not even enough to fix them and is a bad fix. This problem is the stuns - instead of forcing players to buy items to counter it, why not just fix the stun so that they require more skills and arnt as lame. (Yes, we will be FORCED to by these rebound items as stuns are just way too OP atm)
Frost Nova is 3 seconds at highest level.
I agree about rebound items being a lazy / bad / inadequate fix.
Stuns are bad but the stacking of slows is what pisses you off to rage quit.
I think the real issue here is - why do you keep referring to Stardock when the game is developed by Gas Powered Games?
/sarcasm
Its the Stardock Forums, and they are also a lot more heavily involved in the development then publishers are usually. They take this info to GPG who then either put in or dont. And GPG are the developers, they dont have as much time to work with the community like Stardock to and arent as specialized as working with them as Stardock is.Im missing the /sarcasm in that post.
