1- You need Google Earth to participate.
2- The location must belong to your own past, work, vacation... absolutely no OBVIOUS personal details.
2a- Or as stated from May additional rules ; Where do you wish to go in the future, for vacations, Historical places, Museums, Wonders... for a quick visit. Anything for any reasons. Hints & Locations unlimited.
3- To earn the right of submitting the next clue for yourself, you MUST identify the buildings_city_address (etc) of the currently unknown place to the person who linked the image. Once confirmed, you win the right for #4 below.
4- You must provide "easy or not" hints for your own. I'd highly recommend Time Zones, minimum.
5- Altitude must not exceed 1km or below 250m. (Mine is at 303 meters)
6- Don't forget to hide the coordinates from us, bottom left!
Here's the first;
I worked on the 15th floor of that skyscraper as a financial advisor from May 75 to October 77. The red arrow points to my office window.
-5GMT.
Where is it? Street & number.
Usque ad mare... that leaves only *ONE* province, right?
One more hint?
Somewhere in the wiiiiide corridor North of Quebec city!
Finally got it.
Quebec and Vancouver were the remaining areas I was trying.
Le Pont d'aluminium near Shipshaw, Saguenay River, and the Shipshaw Dam (?).
Tough one, at least if you know Canada only from satellite photos and hockey world cups.
Yeeeeeesss, Sir!
Built in 1950, by Alcan engineers -- these thick aluminium beams will NEVER rust. Light, solid, not as tough as steel but if you look down that river or further up North there's even a bigger Dam. Want some Hydro-Electric power? Making aluminium requires lots of Kilowatts.
Your turn.
And here it is, in all it's glory.
Three hints:
- I went to school there
- You are looking at a world record building
- You are also looking across state borders (NOT country)
Name:
- The building marked by the first arrow
- The record for which it is famous
- The street of the school marked by the second arrow
Have fun!
This one is too easy. I'm not going to say it yet because i'm busy making positively sure...but i know it.
Riverside...is my hint...
And Columbia
NY/NJ
First one is Riverside Church with the tallest spire in the United States, and the second one is Columbia University.
Correct me if I'm wrong...how did you get that eye view?
I could be wrong..i've been looking for the past 20 minutes trying to make certain....IDK i'll check back later...I can't seem to make Google Earth look the same as you have...
Nope, that's certainly not in NY city!
- The building marked by the first arrow;
Ulmur münster Cathedral - in Ulm, Germany.
- The record for which it is famous;
Tallest Church Tower in the world.
- The street of the school marked by the second arrow;
Karl Schefold Straβe
???
Correct, the Ulmer Münster is the tallest church in the world, with the main tower rising to 161,53 meters!
The state borders, in this case marked by the Danube, are between Baden-Württemberg (Ulm) and Bavaria (Neu Ulm).
Funny note about the school: It's the "Kepler Gymnasium" (highschool), bordering on the Keplerstrasse and the Karl-Schefold-Strasse. However, the address is quite unexpectedly in the Karl-Schefold.
PS: You can tilt the view in GoogleEarth using the middle mousebutton.
Damn...You should see the screenshot i have..it looks almost identical to the west side of manhattan between NY and NJ. I'll host the image when i get the chance. Funny Coincidence...and that yellow car, i could have sworn was a cab. Everything was very coincidental. =\
Well, I thought I narrowed down the region a bit with the 'went to school' hint. My profile says Germany, after all.
But I'm glad to see that it wasn't too obvious.
Two places i went at first; Berlin & Strasbourg. Eventually i realized there's not that many "cathedrals" which hold a world record. I glimpsed at Chartres for awhile and typed "Tallest Churches" in google and BANG - Ulm came up, it was then a matter of finding the curvy river and put 3D buildings to confirm the orientation!
So, here's a much easier one (I guess!) - never been there myself, but i thought such a challenge would be fun to have. The planet is ours, might as well "see" it in all its tiny glory!
This shipping boat is parked and going "up" on that image.
1-- What is its "presumably right" destination?
2-- It will go through a Lake, near a big Island and underneath two bridges; name all four.
3-- It most probably went right by a city and will eventually reach another one; name both.
An extra hint, perhaps?
The sky is blue and the for_w_est is green!
Welcome to the Jungle?
Panama Canal
Destination - Atlantic Ocean, California or China or other ports
Bridges:
Cities:
Gatun Lake
Barro Colorado Island
Atlantic Ocean? It's going UP & west.
Wrong cities!
Bridges, Lake & Island are exact.
Oh, well... a whole hour later and i must confirm you as the winner since it's soooooo obvious now; but ii was the Pacific Ocean, Colon & Balboa for the cities.
Your turn! (and, +1 KP as usual)
woops ment Pacific Ocean. Oh yeah I see Colon as a main city, but I don't see Balboa
I will be going this awsome campus next year to get a B.S. IT Application Development
Name the Campus and its 8 3d building that are shown in google earth
Name the road that it is located on.
Name the City it is located in.
Name the two lakes and the river nearby the campus, also the major island in the lake.
Wow... that promises to be quite a lot of "typo" verifications & careful precision with naming all eight of these buildings once the city is found, if ever!
Actualy most of the words are simple if you want a hint of that sorts,
Hint: This campus will be the first in the world to be completely off the power grid to be powered by geothermal energy and actualy send some electricity back to the city.
Name the Campus and its 8 3d building that are shown in google earth;
Oregon Institute of technology.
1. Cornett Hall
2. Learning Resource Center
3. Owens Hall
4. Semon Hall
5. Boivin Hall
6. Common Union
7. Residence Hall
8. Snell Hall
Name the road that it is located on; Campus Dr.
Name the City it is located in; Klamath Falls.
Name the two lakes and the river nearby the campus, also the major island in the lake; Klamath, Ewauna, Link, Buck.
