Title says its all. Nothing works. CCleaner, easy Uninstaller and Add or Remove Programs all failed. So did Registry Cleaner.
These 3 programs show up under Add or Remove Programs as well as CCleaner, but easy Uninstaller says they are uninstalled.
How does this work? they are somehow installed and uninstalled at the same time and none work.
System restore made the issue worse by causing an Impulse error. A white box with a red cross would show up.
I can't clear them from the registry because there is an error, but it does not say what the error is.
It is extremely confusing.
Any suggestions?
I have a similar problem. If i try to uninstall entrenchment Beta version through add / remove progs nothing happens. If i try through Impulse i get an XML (28,8) error and it uninstalls SINs! I can't install the full version because it won't let me uninstall the Beta! This is really quite frustrating.
you should check if they are actually installed by going to
C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire "XP user"
if the map Sins of a Solar Empire exists and has numerous other files and maps in it you should use in sins_uninstall.exe located in that map to uninstall the game
adittionally you can run impulse, right click sins of a solar empire and clicking "verify installation" it will then check if sins of a solar empire is installed in it's latest directory, this might solve the error, simply becuase impulse is unaware you removed the game from add / remove programs

Ok, gave this a go. Verify tells me that Sins is installed correctly and that there is an error with Entrenchment - I should apply the update. The update tells me I need to uninstall Entrenchment first. This gives me an error and uninstalls Sins. The loop continues...
There are files in that directory prior to the uninstall above but running the sins_uninstall.exe just gets me a WISE splash screen for a few seconds but then nothing happens. As soon as I reinstall Sins Impusle thinks the Entrenchment Beta is also installed. I've tried reinstalling Sins from CD rather than impulse but this doesn't make any difference.
It may be worth noting that although Impulse thinks Entrenchment is installed that games fires up as the original (1.15.048) Sins. The mines I can live without but I miss those Starbases.
I can't do this because the Stardock Games folder is empty, there is nothing in there, so I deleted it.
My only hope is to get a new PC.
You haven't recently backed up your hard drive have you?
You can try a system restore and roll yourself back about a week or so.
If not you can try to reformat and reinstall your OS, but I'm sure your trying to avoid that.
a dev posted this in another thread just after beta3.0 came out, I think it might help
"You may need to manually remove the game folder, and delete 2 Registry Keys before you'll be able to re-install.Go to C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire (or where ever you installed the game) and delete the main folder. Then launch the System Registry (Start-> run, and type regedit)Look for and delete the following Keys;HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\sinsHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\sinsentrenchFor Vista 64 bit;HKLM>SOFTWARE>Wow6432Node>Stardock>Drengin.net>sinsHKLM>SOFTWARE>Wow6432Node>Stardock>Drengin.net>sinsentrenchThen, reboot your PC and go back to Impulse and try installing the base game. Make sure it installs to 1.13 version, test it out before then installing entrenchment."
hope it helps

I can't play my copy of Sins anymore for some reason so I myself am also trying to uninstall it. So I tried to do the delete the folder and do the regestry thing. Except it won't let me delete the folder! In fact, deleting anything made by Stardock requires me to get permission first. Nothing I ever do on my computer ever requires permission.
I'm really frustrated cause I love this game, but I can't play it anymore nor reinstall it...
EDIT: Okay, I just rebooted my computer and problem solved. It let me delete the original game and reinstall it with no more problems.
