Based on my experience, I regret purchasing the Plus version of ObjectDock. The Start menu launcher never works (a known issue according to Stardock support, but one that's been affecting users for over 2 years), the weather docklet either shows the wrong day or says there's no Internet connection, and the system tray feature is buggy.
On browsing this forum I see various version of OD Plus mentioned. Mine is 1.90 build 535u. I have Impulse installed and regularly check for updates, but there's only been 1 in the 10 months since I bought the software and that didn't fix any of my problems. If there's a newer version, where do I get it? How are some people using version 538u and so on, when Impulse says I'm up to date? If there is a newer version than 535u can I please be provided with a direct link to download it? Thanks.
Mine says it's 1.90, build 535u.
ditto
Mine's 1.90.033 535u as well and I have never had any problems with it. None at all...I'm wondering, what your OS's are, 32 or 64 bit? I'm no pro trouble shooter, but mine's Vista Home Premium SP1 32 bit.
That seems to be the latest. I'm running XP Home SP3 32 bit. The only problem I'm currently having is with the weather docklet, at times it seems it has a mind of its own. Today it doesn't know what day it is.
Well, I guess I share something with a docklet...neither do I.
I'm running the 32 bit version of XP Pro SP3 with all of the latest critical updates installed.
When I try and use the Start Menu launcher, I get this error: -
"StartMenu helper was injected but failed to take effect"
Browsing this forum I see mods telling other people with the same issue that it only affects the free version, yet I emailed Stardock support and they said it's a known issue with ObjectDock Plus and will be fixed in the next version - that was months ago and no updated version has been released.
As for the system tray feature, that doesn't work properly either. For example, my PC has Realtek on board sound. The system tray icon is only small, so it looks blocky and low res when used with ObjectDock. If I change the icon, when I click it to bring up the volume controls, they hang and I have to end the task via Task Manager.
If it's working OK for you that's fine, but it's not for me and others.
I have the same issue,my systray tab works but the icons look so bad,I don't use it.
My icon size on the dock is 32 pixels and I rarely go above 40 pixels.
583u was a beta version that was taken down as it had some bugs, 535u is the latest release version. There are no current betas.
Quiting OD and restarting it will fix weather docklet for a while, then it just goes again.
Yep, I have a sys. tray tab on my tabbed dock, currently it shows 6 items, my Windows sys. tray show 16.
You can change the icons for items in the system tray. Hold down Control and left click, then you can choose a higher res icon. The only problem is, doing that seems to cause issues in some cases (my issue with the Realtek volume controls for example). Give it a try though, cos you can always revert to the original icon if things don't work as they should.
I really wish there was a way to get rid of the ObjectDock icon in the system tray. It's just not needed at all. Hopefully in the next update (if it's released during my lifetime ) there'll be an option to disable it.
I too would like to see this option, hopefully it might make it in to the next build.
Thanks for the tip, DJ_Sigma That appears to be a workable solution, although it appears they need to be changed one at a time, and I'll have to make icons for some apps with icon developer.( A chance to play with some more of ODNT,lol) The ones I have changed so far look much better.
I am running 1.90 Plus Build 535u. Impulse updated it from 1.90 to 1.90.033. After the update, the Build number is still 535u.
Someone reported problems with 537u in this forum. Where can find 537u to download?
I think it was another beta that had bugs thus was taken down.
I have version 1.90 build 537u
i got it by uninstalling it from impulse and reinstalled it from stardock central. the the start menu works fine for me and im running vista home prem 64
