Maybe this has been discussed before. But has anyone seen the AI use mines in the new release of entrenchment? In one of the betas they used them A LOT but now I just finished an 8 hour game with 8 players and only one of them used mines. and only at the very end of the game.
But I DO love how the AI puts up their defenses now, makes the game a little more challenging...
normal AI doesn't seem to use them at all
I'm just entering the endgame of a large random map, and the AI has been using mines. Not excessively, but they do cover the major spacelanes.
I jsut palyed entrenchment for the first time and my lvl 10 capital ship just got rickrolled by about 20 mine squadrons. They weer all on the enemies home planent. I beleive that player was set on Hard...
Yes it does. I'm playing a normal game right now and several of the enemy planets have a fair amount of mines.
they do use them, but much less over the top than they did during the beta, the normal ai's may or may not, the hard AI certainly will
Thanks for the info... it looks like it's time to step it up to the Hard AI...
Must be a bug, but I cant clear mines. They are homing mines. I brought in like 10 scouts. I can see all of the mines. And I've taken over the planet. But, as soon as my scouts approach the mines, the mines activate and kill my scouts.
Can anyone help?
I have had problems with the homing mines myself, my scouts can reveal them, but buy the time they do, the mines kill my scouts, and then the rest of them phase back out of real space before my other units can attack them. A good fix for this would to have them un-phase before moving, they would beable to detonate on anything they get close to, but can be attacked if following a unit. Then a good tactic for clearing them would be a combo of scouts and carrirers (the strike craft could out run the mines and kill them).
They have already stated that this is a bug, which is being fixed in the next patch.
I think I know what it was, but I'm not sure. I continued my game. And instead of clicking on reveal mines manually. I just let them sit there, and after a few seconds the scouts started clearing the mines without getting blown to bits. I guess you cant manually clear them without tripping them off or something.
But anyway, just wanted to add that lil update.
Fromt he games I have played :
Normal AI - Barely uses mines and when it does they are in extremely low numbers.
Hard AI - Uses mines often and in quantities from low to medium.
Unfair AI - Just needs to stop it. Mines everywhere. They even snuck some in my closet. I check the bathroom......you know what I saw? Mines? Yup, they were there too. I looked in the dishwasher.....you know what I saw? Mines? NOPE! BUT THEY WERE RIGHT BEHIND ME! COMING OUT OUT OF THE OVEN!
But seriously.....yes the AI uses mines.
I've seen normal AI use them and place them in meaningful locations and I've seen some AIs not use them at all...I chose to write it off to the type of AI: aggressor, fortifier, economist and researcher. It would make sense that the fortifier would do it and the economist or researcher as funds become available later in the game.
I never thought about the style of AI they would be. I always have my AI's set to random.
