does it need one? it if does it just means one more code for me to write down, just wondering
i was wondering how i get the game. do they send you a code that you enter in? can i buy it on one comp and download on another? do i just put in a code and it downloads or how do they get the game to you? answers would be greatly appreciated.
All you do is order vai impulse and then download it with sins, and BAM, your set to go
No CD key as there is no CD. You will need to download Impulse and register your SOASE game (http://www.impulsedriven.com/). Then you can download the newest patch for Sins. As with Entrenchment, you can buy it via Impulse, too. It is not available in retail stores.
@ Clausij: "[...] can i buy it on one comp and download on another [...]?"
Yes, you can. Just install impulse on the computer you want to play on and login with your Impulse account. Then you should be able to download it (the game is connected to your account).
Alternatively you can install impulse on one computer, download the game, put it on a USB stick and transfer it to another computer. The game itself does not need Impulse to run (however, you need impulse for updating the game. One of the reasons is to prevent pirating). Actually, if I am informed correctly, you get a license to run the game on two computers at once!
Have fun with it!
If only it were that simple, I have paid for Entrenchment, but I'm bolloxed if I can the game to update in Impulse.
The email receipt of the transaction is a complete JOKE, with the link completely broken, very unprofessional, it points to :
http://install/
I kid you not! Is this some muppets idea of a joke because there is NO smile on MY face...
If I click on 'Get Entrenchment' in-game it takes me to the same site where I bought it originally, I'm NOT paying for it twice, who coded this shit?
Tony.
I suspect if it was doing that there would be a number of reports on it given the thousands of copies being sold per hour right now.
What's your point Frogboy? Are you calling a customer (ie. me) a liar or Dickhead or both? It IS doing that I copy and pasted the url in the email receipt.
Unless you have anything of use to add then gtfo. I just want what I paid for so excuse my mood, but don't inflame the situation by adding to the PROBLEM and doing nothing to resolve it.
Frogboy has been reported......if you had been the slightest bit helpful, despite my mood, instead of abusive, I undoubtedly would have recanted my mood and been thankful, but no.
UPDATE: I have just checked the Stardock forums (up a level or two) and it is replete with similar issues like mine, will try there since Frogboy wants to think he's funny. Ie. it IS being reported, but in a different forum.
UPDATE#2: Solution:
"Hello,
go to the blue button on the top left corner of the impulse program. Then go to "Register a product..." an "Add Registration"... enter your serial and e-mail... thats it !
Hope my serial will come soon too, because i got a error while registration and the money was paid...
greetings
plico08"
And it works!! thank you plico08! Still a bit convoluted with unneccesary coding and button pushing in non-obvious places, but works, no thanks to Frogboy whatsoever. And it actually shows up as a SEPARATE game which was obviously no help whatsoever and IS inefficient. Could learn a few things from Valve's STEAM eh? Stardock? :< A pissed off customer.
Heh! This was a riot to read
I thought the message was very clear frogboy... for frogboy!
....and to think I'd heard/read it all!
Like what? Expansion packs on steam... all show up as seperate items!
Was that the entire e-mail? It's been a while since I purchased, so it's possible they changed things, but in my entrenchment e-mail I got an install link to impulse, along with stuff like user name, product name, e-mail, serial number, and other stuff.
Oh, and I'll agree with you on this much: it really does look like they need to update the standard 'form letter' they use for recepits! (Unless they've done so in the 2 months or so since I pre-ordered entrenchment)
t0nedude deserves a cookie for being a creative troll.
t0nedude,
It appears that your order experience was a fluke or a bug in the system. We really are not sure what happened. If you could send a copy of your receipt to sales@stardock.com that could help us identify the problem.
However, you do have a serial number and registration in your Sins of a Solar Empire but I do not see any any purchase or registration records for Entrenchment in your account. Perhaps you placed your order under a different account? If so, please include information for both accounts when you email sales@stardock.com so that we can get this problem straightened out soon as possible.
Ty for teh help everybody
Relax, t0nedude - your email probably just got corrupted or something weird like that. Just follow T-Man's directions and you should be fine. Stardock has great support.
. . . and be nice to the frog. He runs this place . . .
I'm sorry, I wasn't going to reply to this but just couldn't help myself...laugh it up all you like fellas, creative troll indeed, never heard that one before! Might even use it myself! But seriously, the only trolls are you guys fanning the long dead flames of this thread (with the exception of two posts above of course). [/fact]
Be nice to Frogboy? Hard to believe it may be, but I am usually nice and friendly to people who are helpful and offer constructive suggestions, despite my understandable mood. But a suggestion implying 'Everyone else doesn't have a problem, so you are obviously doing something wrong' is neither helpful nor constructive. Especially when the 'suggestion' is from a supposed member of staff like Frogboy bearing the Stardock logo and to a customer who has paid for several of their products, and obviously loves them. And when that solution was a mere stone's throw away on a related forum, it's makes you wonder. I have since checked his profile and was shocked to find that usually Frogboy seems a helpful chap, what happened Frogboy? In other words: I will not kiss his a** or anyone's because he 'runs the place' like everyone here seems to do, but I will be nice if I receive some courtesy and a benefit of the doubt....
I recieved an email recently asking for a link to this thread from a member of support, explaining that I did indeed have an issue, due to a mix up with accounts. I must admit that it wasn't Stardock's fault, or mine for that matter, just an unforeseen set of unusual circumstances which I will not go into here. He told me that he will be reporting it to his supervisor (probably just words to pacify my long extinguished mood) and he needs a link, so that is why I am back here to read some ignorant comments. I was going to say 'ahhh forget it don't worry about it' and probably still will as I am not a vindictive person, but was very angry at the time (hopping mad in fact). Just think about this in future chaps please though?
And thank you T-Man (and CobraA1) for your civilized replies.
Tony. (Creative Troll).
UPDATE: I HAVE asked them to 'drop it' but still pointed a link here though so they can enjoy the thread as well. Looking back it IS an amusing read (wasn't at the time of course)
