Think I ain't clickin' my nostalgic heels after experiencing Man Of La Mancha for the 1st time Sydney?
Makes me cry too damn much, that one, Brian's Song and Powder!
Hell of a cold blooded flick!
Lantec my friend, if you didn't lose that arm, then that's funny as all hell!
I can't really explain the reason, but I love watching "The Truman Show"
Hey, Bryan. Good to see you around. I've been doing some VIP work recently and I was lucky enough to meet Clint. Great guy and a real gentlemen
The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I read the books as a kid and always hoped they'd make a movie(s) of them. The other ones I always hoped were the Chronicles of Narnia. But they're not turning out as well.
'Meet Joe Black', another awesome one.
I can't think of just one...I'm really grateful that I live in an age where films are so readily available. A few that come to mind as my personal all-time greats, that have shaped my life philosophy are:
1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
2. The Fountain.
3. What Dreams May Come.
Yeah, now that is a good movie... although he wasn't the main star, I like anything with Lance Henriksen in it.
Another movie I like is Best Little Whorehouse in Texas... it's a load of old bollocks but still a feel good movie that has some great stars... I like the perfomances of both Jim Nabors and Charles Durning, not to mention Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds.
Oh, and I almost forgot.... This Is Spinal Tap... cos they go to 11.
starkers, I had that movie, one of the guys, I think 'Lenny' from Happy Days is a member [of Spinal Tap].
Once.
I GOT that movie... and yeah, Karen is right, Michael McKean (Lenny) was in Laverne & Shirley, also Young Doctors in Love, funny in parts but not a must see movie I'd be glad of seeing before I departed this Earth.
Yeah I know who he is, but Laverne and Shirley first appeared in Happy Days, and Lenny has also appeared in Happy Days.
Schindler's List and a 13 y/o Dark Knight named Christain Bale in Empire Of The Son.
Two epics guaranteeing not a dry eye for whom ever sees it! Emotionally draining though.
Damn, throw Color Purple in there too. I still can't believe Out Of Africa beat that movie for Best Picture!
ive got a new contender atm at the top of my list....
300
that movie just rocks.....leaves me with a dropped jaw and drooling......... yep insanity heaven i love it.
i agree, nice to see a film with a bit of imagination.davy from scotland
A Walk in The Clouds Directed by Alfonso Arau. With Keanu Reeves, Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, Anthony Quinn. If you haven't seen it yet and you like a good old love story you just gotta see it...
All great ones and great choices, I might add, Cp....Out of Africa won because of the setting and music as well...I think it was more of a "Total Experience".
I also remember "The Ten Commandments" for the same reason....Although The Book version was better.
Sorry I missed quoting this one....absolutely! Brought tears to my eyes....even Death relented to Love, which is the only human creation which conquers death and never crumbles.
I think Sir Anthony Hopkins rocks, though Brad did a good job too.
Ah, the movie where I first heard the Israel Kamakawiwo'ole take on over the rainbow/What a wonderful world.
SUPERMAN - I saw it more times than Star Wars as a kid.
AMERICAN BEAUTY - The only screenplay I ever read twice in one sitting.
THE FOUNTAIN - True love lasts forever.
Picnic at Hanging Rock.......................moody, sinister, beautiful
A Clockwork Orange.........................very disturbing as the young murderous but justice avoiding criminals end up being the police and in authority later and their childhood friendships mean nothing to them.
Last Train to Freo...........................out Hitchcocks Hitchcock.
One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest..................nothing else to say about it
Bruce Almighty..........................just very funny
Silent Night...........................humanity even in war, true story
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
I see math skills are on the low around here. I mean, I would think anyone able to type should know how to count to ONE...
I do love movie suggestions, so I don't really mind...
We are all having our multiples as dead heats.
We best correct the language syntax to "One film I am glad to have seen before I died" as well.
