So did it get pushed back again?
Feb 25th I think. Just wait and be happy they're not dumping an unfinished product onto us. Stardock is one of the few game developers that seems to care about what the gamer thinks.
Yes, it's been set back https://www.stardock.com/about/newsitem.asp?id=1186
Stardock doen't release games that are incomplete. We do our best to meet our schedules but we balance that with getting the people that trust us the very best we can.
It can be frustrating when dates change. As frustrating as it is for you it's more more us. Please bear with us a bit longer. It won't be long andthe wait will be worth it.
I would have a tendency to agree. This game is very solid and I can imagine that it is very difficult to estimate the time involved in the complex programing that is required to produce a product like this. I got very frustrated at one point when it crashed just minutes into the game. I was running the graphics on the highest settings. It was communicated to set the settings down, and when I did that it ran much better. I for one am willing to wait.
I dont mind waiting, but im just curious
on the loading screen for the beta, it says it (the beta) does not include all features etc of the final release...
unless they ran these extras features in an alpha test... how can they know that said features wont fail when implemented with the beta test features?
or is it just a turn of phrase that means look, its still in testing phase, and we may add change or delete things at will?
again, now that Stardock got rid of the 5 min dumps (at least for me) i dont mind waiting, i pretty much have the full game (or a majority of it) already
That has to be the motto of all vaporware devlopers.
If youve seen the movie moneypit. "In 2 weeks".
Stardock.....now working on Valve time.
If your playing the beta while you wait for the full release whats the problem? At least stardock gave us something to do while we wait for a compplete build. Whats more because they're making changes based on player imput, the game is going to be better not worse for the delays.
Couple things.
1. The part about things being added is there because in the beginning of beta it didn't have things such as star bases in it and they just haven't changed the loading screen.
2. It was a mistake when they had entrenchment for sale one Jan 1st. Impulse does not have a TBA function and they have said they will give you a refund if you want one and mistakenly bought the game that day.
3. I highly doubt Stardock is the first company to have delays. *cough* Metroid Prime 3 *cough*
Yes....but there are delays, and then there is Valve time.
From I've seen so far I think we can expect to see Sins of a Solar Empire: Epis.....Entrenchment March 1st.
March 1st, 2012 that is.
People are gonna whine about anything just so they can whine.
People are morons that say "just release the game anyway! I don't care if it's buggy or crashes - that would allow me to whine about that too!"
Going on with Zubaz and Sethbeastalan, programing is not an easy task. Things are still being added to the game and bugs are being fixed. There are ALWAYS setbacks in all kinds of work, programing not exclusive. Most companies will take "pre-orders" and give you nothing to show but an empty wallet until you get the game. Be glad you have the game to play with. I most certainly am glad I have it.
I would like to also add, Stardock has NEVER released vaper ware. They have always completed everything they have sat out to release. Granted, things have gone wrong where they had to move back release dates, some significantly, but have always released it finished eventually.
Most everyone was told upfront they were receiving an incompleted copy of the expantion and those that weren't told were offered a full refund. By not taking that you agreed with the arrangement of incomplete software and an update 'once it was complteded' with not date specified. If you're going to complain about what YOU agreed to (I emphasize YOU), complain to yourself in the shower... not bottleneck this place were people are posting about bugs to help hurry up the full and finished release for you the complainer.
On a more POSITIVE note to the programers, AWSOME AWSOME job so far and keep it up! I for one haven't run into any of the bugs even before the fixes...
Wrong. MOST companies don't charge your card until the product you ordered is shipped to you. Stardock do.
Well duh... thats true. It wouldn't be called vapor ware if it was released, would it? Vapor ware is an unreleased product where the developer says "coming soon", "just a little longer", "2 weeks", etc, and then each time their new deadline arrives, they push it back again. Well I'm sorry, but thats exactly what Stardock are doing with Entrenchment.
It wouldn't be quite so bad if they announced the delays before the previously announced date arrived, but no.. they often wait until the advertised release date to make the announcement. Based on the length of time they keep adding to the release dates, its plainly obvious that they know they are not going to be able to keep to their release date well in advance of that date, and purposely keep everyone in the dark.
What a load of rubbish. There was absolutely no mention of a beta version in the ordering process when I ordered it, nor any mention of this supposed "arrangement" that you just invented to give you an excuse to type out a few paragraphs of nonsense.
If you're going to be a member of the Stardock apologista brigade, at least get your facts straight and learn what the terms you are using in your argument mean.

ROFL, you must only be in the world of specific computer games. Every single game I've ever preordered from Pokemon to World in Conflict I've had to put atleast some money down.Quoting falcongrey, reply 13Stardock has NEVER released vaper ware.Well duh... thats true. Obviously vapor ware in this case means something that shouldn't be released, but is anyway.
Edit: Just reread this part and I could barely breathe I was laughing so much after reading the last sentence.Quoting falcongrey, reply 13By not taking that you agreed with the arrangement of incomplete software and an update 'once it was complteded' with not date specified. I will agree that I had no 'warning' that I was allowed to play the beta if I preordered other than word of mouth, however he is right with the full refund pertaining too January 1st. All we really agreed to is that we will pay you money now so we can have a game later. If you've been around as long as you talk like you have you would know that release dates are never solid and get pushed back, A LOT. So what's wrong with them throwing in a little freebie?
And a final note to falcongrey,
I actually enjoy coming on here to read these posts. It makes me feel better about my intelligence and helps me practice shutting people down so I have an easier time doing it while talking about politics.
Does anyone know how much the expanssion will cost when fully released?
10 dollars, same as now.
am i mistaken in assuming "pre-order" means pay now to have the product at release date? that's how i understood it...and fancy thing was, i got the beta to play with, and give feedback on until such time as the FINISHED product is released. minus major bugs, with certain features and ideas from us...the consumer.
take some midol and chill, or just request a refund and and go to best buy....pre-order something with a card....and discover that they do in fact charge you up front, won't get any beta though will ya?
If you paid for the beta, you won't pay for the game when it release. Pre-ordering the game just grant you acces to the beta. That's it.
Stop complaining about the date. If Stardock release a game full of bugs, you will cry like a baby. Now, they want to release a game with no bug and you're crying to. Wow! Stop always complaining about everythings and wait.
