i got the beta last night but i cant get it to run... everytime i try to play it, the screen goes black. i do ctrl alt del and it says the program is not responding... any idea how to get around it??
I have had the same problem, since intalling the latest Sins and Entrenchment upgrades. Reinstalling video drivers for my 9400GT nVidea card didn't help. May try to uninstall and reinstall sins and entrenchment.

i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the same thing keeps happening. I use windows vista ultimate 32 bit. Nvidia 9800 gtx+. AMD athlon 64 X2 4800+
This is going to sound crazy, but have you tried waiting? The screen goes black for a long time the first time it runs. Try waiting several min before doing anything. Hope this helps.

having the almost the same problem, i tried running after installing all new updates, and the game would crash before it even started, then i verified installs using Impulse, said Sins original receipe installed fine but entrechment didnt, please look for update, so i reinstalled update and now i can get to the main menu, but i cant get my saved game to run, it just mini-dumps.
You have to uninstall and remove the files manually. I fgt how to do it, but devs have been posting it for a while. Try searching.

You will need to manually remove the game folder, and delete 2 Registry Keys before you'll be able to re-install.Go to C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire (or where ever you installed the game) and delete the main folder.Then launch the System Registry (Start-> run, and type regedit)Look for and delete the following Keys;HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\sinsHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\sinsentrenchFor Vista 64 bit;HKLM>SOFTWARE>Wow6432Node>Stardock>Drengin.net>sinsHKLM>SOFTWARE>Wow6432Node>Stardock>Drengin.net>sinsentrenchThen, reboot your PC and go back to Impulse and try installing the base game. Make sure it installs to 1.13 version, test it out before then installing entrenchment.
Removing all Mods also appears to fix the problem
Same problem here, reïnstalling (with reg-fix and delete all the content under c:\Program Files\Stardock Games) does not fix the problem. I can play SOASE without the entrenchment update, but when I install Entrenchement the screen is going black for a few seconds, then I return to the desktop where in the taskbar SOASE is visible but can't activate. I've recently updated my videodrivers (nVidia 8800 GTS512) and other games works fine.
OS : Vista x64 UltimateHW: quad core Intel, 4 GB Ram, nVidia 8800GTS512
For now, I deinstall everything and I just install SOASE and hope there will be a fix for Entrenchement soon.
PS. on my laptop (vista 32-bit) Entrenchement is working fine, so maybe it has something to do with x64??
