I meet a problem with the latest version of Skype and OD 1.9 on Windows XP SP3.
When Skype 4.0 is accessed through a "system tray" dock, it "loses the focus".
I mean all skype windows are not answering to the mouse/keyboard.
This seems related to OD because I can't reproduce the problem when using the system tray bar.
Is this something known? Is there any workaround?
Thanks
Same problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have also post a message to Skype... no reply..
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Same problem here. Except im on Vista 64.
Object Desktop Version: 1.9i[b]0.20
My only work around is to close object dock before you interact with skype in the tray.
I see that other people has the same problem. Nothing new at the Stardock side?!
are you running windowblinds? If so, go into WB config and add Skype to the list of programs not to be skinned...that helped me, hope it helps you.
I'm running Object Dock only and same problem with Skype 4. I've been using Skype with Object Dock without any trouble until upgrading to 4 just a few days ago. Uninstalled, reinstalled...same problem. I can't click on any of Skype's UI to get it to do anythying once the convorsation window pops up. I can't exit, I can't click on any of the option "tabs", nothing. If I try to quit Skype, the window pops up "Are you sure you want to quit Skype" but I can't click any of the buttons or the checkbox.
I'm going to try to shut down Object Dock and then launch Skype to see if it goes away. BRB.

OK, guys this works: Shut down Object Dock and force-quit Skype 4.0. Now launch Skype and no problems. Object Dock is the culpret. Aaaaaggghh!
Ok, here's an update:
If you launch Skype 4 from the docklet it won't work. I had to kill the "running apps" docklet and restore my Windows task bar. Skype 4 works fine as long as you launch it OUTSIDE of Object Dock. Bummer. Stardock needs to fix this.
Best,
Hey guys...
I have been able to reproduce the issue here. Specifically, it is with the Skype system tray icon. I have a dock devoted just to "Display system tray icons along with my icons" and double-clicking the Skype icon from here will pop open the Skype window but then nothing in that window is clickable. I have to kill the Skype process after that.
However, when I launch Skype 4 from the start menu or from any of my ObjectDocks that do not "Display system tray icons along with my icons," the Skype window works fine.
I have had trouble with system tray apps and ObjectDock before. For example, the Steam icon will not keep it's context menu up when right-clicked from ObjectDock's system tray replacement.
Nonetheless, I have never had an issue where the app is rendered completely useless as is the case with Skype 4.
Removing Skype from WB6 skinning doesn't help.
I don't run Skype from dock.
Skype becomes unresponsive only when it's minimized in the taskbar, and when I raise it from the taskbar. All windows and dialogs are unresponsive, no other way to close Skype thant killing the application with a task manager.
I've tested hundred of other combinations all others are ok.
Is stardock working on this issue?
Opened a ticket: KMI-468052
Finally an explanation! Thanks for trying to find a solution.
I found that this is a specific problem with the way that ObjectDock deals with the system tray icons. I found that if I unhide the Windows Taskbar at the bottom and use the system tray there, the problem does not occur. So, in order to work around the problem, don't use the system tray icons in ObjectDock itself, use the taskbar for that.
I'm not fond of the solution myself, since I like to keep the taskbar hidden, and I've opened a ticket with Stardock (TKH-716546). Here is a transcript of my ticket:
-------------------------
Hello, I am opening this ticket because I am having a problem with ObjectDock. I am running v1.90 535u, and Skype v4.0.0.215 on Windows XP SP3. I am running four docks:1.) Non-tabbed dock with a 'Start Menu helper'.2.) Tabbed dock with application icons.3.) Non-tabbed dock with running applications.4.) Non-tabbed dock with tray icons. Also of note, I have the Windows Taskbar minimized. Here is an outline of the problem, and the steps to reproduce it.1.) Start ObjectDock.2.) Start Skype.3.) Minimize Skype to the taskbar by pressing the "X" button in the upper right hand corner.4.) Un-minimize Skype by double-clicking the Tray Icon (in the #4 dock). Now, Skype will not respond to any mouse or keyboard input (menus, chat, 'X' button), and has to be terminated from the Task Manager in order to be shut down. This condition persists even after ObjectDock is closed. The problem does not exist when Skype is launched and used when ObjectDock is not running. Nor does the problem occur if I un-hide the Windows Taskbar and use the system tray icon there. The problem directly stems from using the tray icon in the dock specifically containing my system tray icons. Now that I think about it, the same thing happens when I run the Realtek HD Sound Effect Manager for my sound card on my PC.There is a forum post on wincustomize.com here: https://forums.wincustomize.com/338912There is a bug report to Skype here: https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SCW-1008I agree with the Skype developers that this really isn't their problem and is something you should address, since it also seems to happen with other applications. Please help me (and the other users of ObjectDock) find a solution to this problem other than the workaround that I have provided.
This is now a known issue with restoring Skype from the sytem tray icon in Objectdock. The developers have been informed of the issue. At this time, the only work around is to restore skype from the System Tray in the Windows Taskbar, or simply minimize it to the taskbar rather than closing it and restoring from the tray icon.
I think I've found a workaround that I can live with. In Skype 4.0, go to Tools/Options/Advanced/Hotkeys and set a hotkey for 'Focus Skype'. I assigned Ctrl-Y. Now when I close Skype to the OD system tray, I can bring it back up with the hotkey and it is functioning properly. I just have to remember to use the hotkey instead of double clicking the system tray icon.
Great work-around with the Hot Key option.
Any update on that??
Maybe an upgrade to Stardock?
+1
I just installed OD+ at work today, having bought it during the weekend. I was dismayed to see that Skype just will not gain focus when woken up via OD's systray. Since Skype is the prefered comm method in my company I keep getting messages during the day. While I have managed to remember to only minimise and launch Skype from the OD's taskbar most of the time I forgot and had to kill Skype from process explorer over a dozen times...
Looks like it's not fixed yet....
Still not fixed yet? Anyway, I have found the solution.
Mine using XP SP3... Here's what i tried working...
- Firstly, make sure the Skype added to the main dock by right-click opened icon and click "Add this application to the Dock." or right-click create one shortcut for Skype.
- Open Skype from the main dock instead of "system tray/taskbar" dock. It works absolutely fine!
No more loosing focus
