The title says enough. Still got a minidump after about 25min of gameplay. Really nice.
I wouldn't mind just playing the normal version for the time being, but as you know......entrenchment replaced it. Can't believe they charge money for this.
It's a freaking beta!... Wait until they finish to complain about "money" being charged for a "buggy product". REmember that after launch, you won't be charged again and you will get a more polished and much less buggy game.
Besides alerting stardock that the problem is not fixed, my point is: either give out a free buggy beta, or charge money for a final game.
And when you do charge money...don't let european buyers pay over 13us dollar when you say you're selling it for 10
A couple things. First, orly? Second, buggy beta is redundantly redundant. Third, there have been so many posts by devs saying that they don't give out beta for free because some people still expect a perfect game even though they've been told hundreds of times that it will have bugs and it'll be killed by word of mouth. Fourth, what are you even talking about in your last post?
Anyway if you want to just play the vanilla version go here for how to get entrenchment uninstalled. http://forums.impulsedriven.com/338274
And about the price your pay, just look at it this way, you pay the same amount off your pay cheque as the guy in the US.Well that just my $.02 CAD
cheers,spylord
You will need to manually remove the game folder, and delete 2 Registry Keys before you'll be able to re-install.Go to C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire (or where ever you installed the game) and delete the main folder. Then launch the System Registry (Start-> run, and type regedit)Look for and delete the following Keys;HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\sinsHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\sinsentrenchFor Vista 64 bit;HKLM>SOFTWARE>Wow6432Node>Stardock>Drengin.net>sinsHKLM>SOFTWARE>Wow6432Node>Stardock>Drengin.net>sinsentrenchThen, reboot your PC and go back to Impulse and try installing the base game. Make sure it installs to 1.13 version, test it out before then installing entrenchment. Please let me know whether this resolves your problem or if you have any additional questions.
returning to the mini-dumps issue
the game and the beta (which are very good in my opinion by the way) have been running fine right up until this lates patch. After installing it, when I went to load a game, I changed the difficulties a bit (to harder; I'm not a pansy) and right as the game began to load, it crashed and had this "minidump" error. I should have copied the error number... sorry
just thought you'd like to know that for some reason, this broke the game on my machine. I'll wait patiently for the next patch to see if it clears thigns up : )

At least you guys are getting into the game before it crashes.... I can't even get it started. I just get the "Sins has stopped working and needs to close" message, which I'm going to assume is being caused by the same issue since it worked before. Anyway, I don't mind waiting for a bit for it to get fixed. This is one of few companies that I know of that are actually listening to what their customers have to say (from reading the update history they added more mine sweeping and made the starbases a bit stronger which was what some of the main topics a while ago were). So I'll support them.
Thanks for the tips about playing the original Sins guys.
Well then they should advertise I was buying a Beta. From the sellingsite I was clearly under the impression I was pre-ordering the game, not a beta. It is a well known practise to start selling your new game a certain time before the official launch, so when they advertise with a 'pre-order' then I don't expect a buggy crashing beta, but a well developed game.
Btw noticed a bug in this latest patch: When you develop a jumpgatemodule in your starbase it needs energy to activate it, but no energy is allocated to the starbase. The only way to get around this is to add another module that does provide energy i.e. the force field.
When you pre-order a game you do it to guarantee a copy to yourself and to start playing the SAME DAY at the RELEASE DATE, you usually don't get ANYTHING AT ALL until that time. You got something out of a pre-order (a beta/preview) and you still complain? Amazing
I hope they will fix this patch, as soon as a couple of minutes go by, the game stops, closes and writes "saved mini-dumps......"
The only way to play is to uninstall entrenchment and run sins without!
thanks highlander,
that was some really good info you just passed out. helped me out bigtime!
I think I'd rather get the minidump right away rather than after I play for an hour or two and have my game ruined half way in every time.
are we supposed to send the minidump file to stardock for them to examine? if so where do we send it?
Glad to hear that surfcasual.
drd44, you need to send mini-dump files to ironClad directly, support@ironcladgames.com. You should also try the delete/clean registry I posted above.
thanks highlander, I will send the file. I would try deleting and reinstalling the game as you suggested.. but going through all that, and then having to play for 4 or 5 hours just to find out if it worked is just too much.. If it happened right away, I would try it but it's too annoying to get engrossed in a long game only to have it crash. I hope you guys manage to get it fixed.. I'll try it again when the final version is released.
I tried the uninstall and reinstall - game crashes constantly after loading a saved game. I have a good 10 mini-dumps (where are they located? I'll also send them).
This really sucks; just got a friend to get the mini-expansion and now we can't play
