Interested in Entrenchment I was in the mood to order it today. How suprised I was to find you, chargeing your European customers with 9,95 EUR, which ist substantially more, than the 9,95 USD on your site. Not intendet in getting cheatet by a publisher, I canceled the order.
Sorry for your otherwise interesting product. Maybe we will come to terms, if you come to a fair priceing for your European customers.
Yes I noticed the same thing, altough just after I ordered, its a difference ofabout 2-3 euro....Stardock will I be seeing that back?
same here, I still have both emails from Stardock and Paypal,
I've paid 10.13 EUR for Entrenchment, thats 13.63 USD (1 EUR = 1,34616 USD from paypal's email)
Why am I charged 13.63 USD while the online store says 9.95 USD? I dont think that has anything to do with conversion rates.
If Stardock charged me the 9.95 USD like they said in the store, I would have paid around 7.39 EUR
I've basically paid 39% more then Stardock told me they would. Ok its only 3 Euro, but the idea....
i would really like to know why
Mh I have actually preordered Entrenchment back in late October... and I payed around 7 Euro...
Worth reading. Apparently Steam is also doing this, where $US = €EURO.http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=770231Although I don't like $1 = €1, but I wonder if their thinking along the line of making everyone pay the same monetary value, I mean without taking into account the exchange rate.Anyway hope Stardock changes the prices for you guys.
Cheers,Spylord
are there ppl from stardock reading this, or should someone send an email to stardock?
Similar situation for me, web site says $9.95, my Paypal account charged $11.63. Seeing as its Paypal transaction it cant be an exchange rate issue even if I am in the UK.
Email to sales sent and if no joy will take it up with PayPal.
Not impressed.
and why does my payment total in cart show up in GBP instead of USD or EUR?
and why is noone from stardock replying?
It's because of our European publishing agreement with Kalypso. They set the European prices. We can't undercut our publishing partners, it makes them unhappy.
Well then you should either make better contracts with your publishers or list the correct price, or even better do both. This is a typical case of (possibly unintended) fraud. You cannot advertise your product for price X and then charge them the higher price Y.
Next to that I have payed and downloaded Entrenchment directly from Impulse, so no European publisher needs to be in that process. I.E. I also bought Sins from the site before it was even published in Europe.
The bottom line is: Charge the price you're advertising your product for and don't skim off extra profits through the use of the monetary system.
Update:
I have had no joy as to a refund of the over charge for the product, fed me a line about exchange rates. Seeing as I paid by paypal in USD this should not be the issue. I have reported the situation to paypal as I consider this an unauthorised payment.
I wonder if a line to my creditcard company will do the trick...
And one more thing: the Cart total shows up in GBP while i'm from the netherlands (EUR) and my payment is charged with paypall in USD, is that to confuse customers so they dont notice they pay to much?
Thanks for your official answere, Zoomba. Please inform Your European publisher, I'm willing to wait, until he publishes the addon over here. Then I will wait further, until the addon arrives in the binbar. Then, after the price will be as low as 5 EUR, I might be ready to buy.
On a sidenote, Your chargement of "Twilight of the Arnor" seems to reflect the correct exchange rates. What says Your publisher with that?
This all seems lame, lame, Zoomba. As Impulse has decided to fool us Europeans, I see no room for further buys from Impulse or Stardock.
Have a nice time
auchhh....Well put Wingo
and they are awalys talking about their bill of rights......
$=€ is because the US economy is shattered and we European have now to pull them out of their own dug dung hole.
Maybe because Kalypso is not publishing ToA? Just a guess.
So let me get this straight...
Not only the wrong price is shown at Impulse, which is considered (by EU law at least) a fraud but the conversion is 1 dollar = 1 euro.
Apple tried that conversion rate and they were ordered by the EU to drop it or face the consequences for discriminating european consumers.
Thanks for Your hint, Dragoonfa. Complain to EU-Commission writen. Read the following text in German:
Hope this will help, stopping unfair business practices against European citizens.
Personnally, I think the "unfair" practice is the fact that the price dislayed to european customers is not the price that will end in your cart. It will be better if regional pricing can be checked elsewhere than in the cart.
A mention on the page telling that there are regional pricings, like there are mentions about geographical restriction or specific DRM used, would be very nice.
Nice work Wango
I feel sad reading this post, I was planning to get SoaSE with Entrenchment, I really thought impulse was better than Steam after the $ = € disaster, so I pre-ordered Demigod and started spending my money here instead there. Seems that I'll avoid impulse too.
Just curious, what's the price of a game in Europe compared to the States at a retail outlet?
IT differes quit a bit, depending on what kind of game you're buying. For big games like gta4 it's around 50-55 euro (the reason why there is so much gamingpiracy), but for small internet games and add-ons it's mostly between 5 and 15.
Rubbish. Entrenchment on it's own will not be available at retail and hence will not be published by Kalypso. It's published directly through Impulse (Stardock). Kalypso are not involved. Next excuse?
