Hello,
I recently purchased The Corporate Machine (I recalled reading many favourable reviews of it many years ago), however I have been unable to get it to work on XP. It loads OK and the start screen comes up, however, it stalls on the game setup screen.
I have set it to Windows 95 compatibility, but still no joy. I am running a dual core CPU, which may also be a problem for this software, however after setting the affinity to one CPU the game still stalls on the game setup screen.
Any help available? Is Stardock still supporting this title?
Update: I was able to get it running by turning off hardware acceleration for my video card.
how did u do that? i purchased the game but everytime i run it it crashes. i tried every otherthing you said but no chance. so how did u turn off hardware acceleration?
There can be some sort of conflict with the DirectDraw interfaces provided by nVidia in recent driver revisions. You can avoid it by disabling DirectDraw acceleration - click start, run, type in "dxdiag", click the Display tab, click "Disable" next to "DirectDraw Acceleration." Note that this will also disable hardware acceleration in all your other games, so don't forget to go turn it back on when you're done playing TCM.
