fires shells that are too big. bigger than frigates!
Yeah, they know.
What's wrong with firing shells bigger than frigates? That's just how much ass the Kol kicks.
+1
wow someone needs to get and image of a kol firing the gauss cannon and make a motif caption

A vasari captain comments when first encountering TEC military forces "How are they responding to our incursions?"
His subordinate replies "Uh, sir, they've been throwing rocks at us..."
"Rocks?"
"Well, uh, meteors, sir. They throw meteors at us"
Tec command
"We won!"
"How is that their fleet was bigger. They had more CARRIERS. They spammed like crazy."
"We shot meteors."
Vasari command
"How'd we lose."
"They shot meteors."
"You're point."
"They were big. Do you want to see the replay"
*after they watch*
"Noob glitchers. *censored swearing fit*. Stupid game balance. We spammed so many carriers. They are so OP. How could we lose. Why ironclad why?"
I LMAO when i saw the "Meteor Shower" the Kol now spews. Nice touch. but the "rock" can use a downsize a bit
With actual physics implemented, the target ship would be pushed back rather violently.
Do I smell a new idea or what?
w00t i have to agree. Thanks for that picture. I'm really going to put that somewhere on my desktop or something.
While funny as hell to watch its just wrong lol. The rock really shouldnt be bigger than the gun muzzle it is fired from. You could have really LOL-ed us by having it shoot volkswagon bugs, or cows or giant vegetables.
Ill need to re-scale this rock myself sooner or later dont it
I know it's a moon in the clip and not an asteroid, but still reminds me of this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6U7rOUSvYM8
In the darkest days of the early wars, it was a singularly unimpressive researcher, one Professor Kol, who, while exploring a nameless asteroid, stumbled upon a new mineral. Taking the mysterious substance to his lab, he made the quick discovery that this substance was totally worthless. In a fit of anger, he grabbed up a handful and threw it against the wall."Worthless," he cried. "This stuff is worthless."To Professor Kol's astonishment as he hurled a pea-sized granules against the wall, they suddenly and drastically expanded, a few nearly to the size of frigates. The bulkheads of his scout ship ruptured, simultaneously sucking the air from his lungs in a despairing last gasp, while the mysterious mineral crushed him into nano-sized particles.Subsequent salvage and research efforts discovered that this new element, now named Kolarian in honor of the late professor, possessed a unique property: The size of the particle was determined not by its molecular structure but by its velocity. Thus, this strange element (now thought to be the product of a long extinct civilization) was able to overcome the restrictions imposed by the conservation of matter. "It's size will increase exponentially," Field Marshal Von Kolcreme explained to his superiors. "As velocity increases. In theory, at least, a mere particle could expand to nearly the size of a moon as velocity approaches the speed of light."And so, a weapon was created, placed on a new type of battleship especially made for this purpose, and named for the poor unfortunate who died for this discovery and the magficent glory of the TEC.
watch a Babylon 5 episode called "The long Twilight" or something like that, its in season two...
they have Mass Drivers on their ships for planetary bombardment, Mass Drivers being kinda similar to Gauss...
basically, they throw stones, big stones, and very fast
The issue is not that it throws a big rock. Ive seen the B5 effect, and at least the asteroids it tossed fit inside the guns they fired from. The issue is the rock it tosses is almost as wide as the Kol itself. In the standard game the bullet effect was the same size as the gun muzzle. Its not that big of a deal. It is pretty funny in fact. It just doesnt look right is all
The reason is that the Kol was originally designed to be able to produce frigates, basically being a mobile fortress. Unfortunately, they couldn't work the kinks out of the launch bay, which propels the frigates at a high enough speed to kill everyone on board. Eventually they said "screw it", and kept the thing on board as a giant gun.
I am sorry for the bump, but this is just too dam funny.
Its also the first SOASE thing to pop up when you google image search 'kol'.
Thank you Google.
