The Sins of a Solar Empire - Entrenchment beta is now underway! All pre-order customers are now being charged and should gain access to Entrenchment via Impulse (http://www.impulsedriven.com). Please note you must have Sins of a Solar Empire v1.12 for Entrenchment to function (also available via Impulse for registered owners).
Please note that due to the huge number of pre-orders, it will take several hours to work through the queue, so please be patient.

hmmm.... it hasn't appeared yet for me, nor do I have any sort of registry key. I guess I'm not very high on the Queue
Yup, loaded up Impulse immediately but sadly I'm still stuck waiting for it to be registered. Can't wait until it's ready!
I think this is worthy of my first post, DOWNLOADING ENTRENCHMENT
Passing 70% as I type this
You tease. teasing us as we wait for ours to appear
Wait, why does it take serveral hours to process the pre-orders into beta-keys? Are they being done by hand or something?
bug report: When I try to purchase the game through the impulse program, it rings up as 13.xx
when I buy it through the impulse website, it's the norma 9.95.. strange.
It's still a tease for me, I've got to go do a bit of Christmas shopping now so can't play it anyway =[
I'll try to get a screenshot of the Advent starbase ASAP to ease the pain for those still waiting =]
Well, there goes my night.
Well I'm guessing its becauses this process is dependent on a large number of external parties such as banks, paypal, and credit card companies (visa). If it were a matter of sending out emails to everyone it would be done in a few minutes, but in this case it requires individual confirmations of payment.
Because people are being charged for the order now. It's not just send an email. It's "take the payment info people gave earlier, and bill it. If successful, send the email."
Downloading now, so I'm happy for the moment.
*slaps Mazuo around a bit with an overgrown clownfish* Not you, too
If it makes you feel better, I'm at work and can't download anything for nearly 3 more hours.
Jeehaa!
Downloaded it allready (90MB ~ 15min). Thats quite an improvement compared to the 1.1 patch
That's why I'm slapping him around with a clownfish. I won't be home for about 3.5 hours
I am starting to hate work...I need to stop reading these posts at work. How am I supposed to get anything done now?
*recovers from Annatar's usual brute force and meanness*
Word of warning to folks with installed mods. If it's not in one of these countless Entrenchment threads, make sure you remove the mod before trying to launch Entrenchment. The auto-load settings for mods were causing me to go to a permanent black screen when running it. I deleted the data inside the Mods folder and removed the modname line from my user settings file and it opened right up.
Just figured it might save some people some swearing time if they didn't make the same mistake I did.
Edit: Ahahahaha! I can't wait to see the reaction to some of these defense tech research options. As usual, I've only seen TEC, but my jaw dropped at some of them.
thanks for the warning. but as long as auto load is off it should be fine, no?
and flame! for the teaser. you're almost as bad as the devs.
Silly question, but are we allowed to talk about the beta here? Is there some agreement you have to accept when you install it that you wont go on the forums and post about advent starbases, Vasari defense trees or the power of Marza?
Just curious, I dont want to get banned because I didnt read something.
I don't think anyone will mind and in fact I'm sure the worker drones would love to be able to hear more details about what others are experiencing as they toil away watching the clock move so slowly as to almost start ticking backwards.
I mainly just didn't post details about it as I've only played a few minutes and am at a loss as to what exactly to even comment on, heh.
Surely. I just wasn't that smart in my eagerness to commence.
There is no current rule against about talking about the Sins beta.
Please check out Annatar's stickied thread about providing feedback to us about the beta:
https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/319171
That is quite correct. If you have purchased the beta you have not actually been charged for it yet. Once they process your order you are then charged for the game and the email goes out with your account information. Then it is just a matter of downloading the beta through Impulse. Even at the time of this writing orders are still being processed.
Yeah, unless you signed away your soul in blood on an NDA, you're fine
Greetings all - There was something misconfigured on the server which was causing some Entrenchment installs to not work. If you fall into this category (and I imagine you know who you are) please do the following:
1) In Impulse click the Stardock logo (orb) in the upper-left and select Check for Updates (or restart Impulse).
2) Install Entrenchment normally. If you have an install in progress and don't want to take any chances, Cancel it and start over.
My apologies for the issues.
Wow, I'm loving the mine mechanics. Haven't had a chance to see them detonate yet, but no tactical slots, 1000 credits, 250 metal and 100 crystal get you 10 mines placed randomly in a small circle where you click. TEC ones are listed as doing 1200 damage each.
Edit: Correction, I have now very much seen them explode. Two assailants made the mistake of jumping in. Two mine explosions later, and they were space dust.
