Ok well my desktop pictures where running fine. Now after updateing my nvidia card. For some reason it deactivated desktop windows manager (uxsms) whatever that is. But please if anyone knows. Please tell me how to reactivate it.
right click on your taskbar, choose task manager, choose FILE, NEW TASK ( RUN ) , type DWM.exe, OK.
Well sorry to say but it didn't work. It says this exactly.
"The Desktop Window Manager is not running, DeskScape requires The Desktop Window Manager (uxsms) to be running to function" And im using a vista.
ehh... Bump?
What vid card?
What drivers?
What version of OS? Is it genuine?
Go to services (in the search field just type it) go to the Desktop Windows Manager Service and right click. Choose start.
Then on you desktop right click and choose personalize the them then Windows Vista.
See if that helps.
I am sorry Anthony you are having issues.
I have found that if I make sure my total Default Blind *wiffout WB* is AERO and then have any WB style over the Aero Style.
For me I have found that Runnin the "Aero" Theme by itself or Under any WB or Stardock theme automatically "enables" the "DWM".
I hope this helps. If you have any more questions I would be happy to offer some more assistance.
Good Luck and hope I helped Anthony.
Anne
yes if you switch back to Aero will be running again, provided that you see it to Aero, and make sure the title bars are Transparent, then if using windowblinds switch to whichever blind you want, and you should be fine....
good advice Anne
Well this is all kind of hard to follow. Im only 15 But I did try the services thing. Started stoped restarted. None of it worked. And to be honest I have no idea what Aero is.
Kid..... stop messin' with the machine before you shoot your eye out.......

Control Panel\Performance Information and Tools: Update Index score.
Thanks for the kind wordz Da Zman.
And Anthony as to what Aero is, Aero is anew style for the taskbar that comes wiff VIsta Home Premium or higher.
If you don't have Home Premium or higher than you don't have Aero and DWM.
If you do you can find it under "Personization" and "Windows Colors" ...
You can open the Default Menu and it will show you if you have Aero and if you do Just click on it if it isn't already Highlighted
I hope this is more help
The reason Windows scores below 2.0 on graphics is due to an underpowered video card. Most modern video cards will score over 2.0 on the Windows experience score. However, one issue that might arise if Windows Vista was installed BEFORE installing a new graphics card. Once Vista records the WEI score, the benchmark needs to be run again to update the score for the new card. So if you have recently replaced your graphics card and your WEI score is still below 2.0 Update your score on the Control Panel, Performance Information and Tools dialog.

do this first
now what you need to do is go into your display properties, and the section where you would set the system colors... select advanced properties, and the you have a choice of windows classic, vista basic, or aero... you want to select aero
the way to tell if Aero is already running is to look at your title bars, if they are transparent you are running aero, and that's not your problem, if they aren't transparent you've found your problem...
let us know how it's going...
Please try my advice on this thread https://forums.wincustomize.com/?postid=332395 and repost here.
try going to the start menu and then typing in the search type "dxdiag" (with out the quotes) then the DirectX diagnostic tool will pop up then click on the lower right hand corner "save all information" save this file as "Dxdiag" after that is done make sure the file is saved in your documents, then go to the file and open it up (it will be a simple text file) go to the top where it says FILE - EDIT - TOOLS - ETC... ETC... click on "edit" then "select all" after thext has been selected (which it should be highlighted as blue, go to "edit" again and select "copy". Then come here to your forum post and copy that text into your post. This information will allow us all to help much better It looks like a lot of info but thats ok
FYI - no personal information about you or anyone will be devulged.. this just simply grads the OS version and a list of hardware and drivers used. This will only contain system stats
Well I am hopin that by now Anthony has figured out and fixed the Problem
Happy Holidays all
