I downloaded the 1.1 update (i check impulse for updates daily) and promptly set to playing a game as the emergency trade coalition. I have been very aggrevated by my capital ships (I have built both the one thats a main warship and the one thats a support ship) both either ignoring an order to leave an enemy filled or starting to leave then turning around. the end result is i have built many of that first main warship when i could have saved it had it followed orders.
The only thing i can think of causing this issue is the auto excute orders for the capital special abilities overriding the move orders. if so i could simply turn off the auto execute but should i really have to do that micromanagement witht his game?
Micro is a valuable skill to learn for this and a lot of RTS games. The AI isn't all that smart with ability management, such as the Subverters performing Distortion Field on the same target or the Kol using its Gauss Rail Gun on a target already being focus fired (since the Rail Gun is affected by mitigation).
Although leaving abilities to autocast does get the job done, your ships can perform far more efficiently if you manage their abilites yourself.
Thats a very good point and I enjoy micromanaging battles if i can spare the focus. But theres micromanaging then theres fighting the computer. I have to repetetively give the order and make sure my Kol Battleship leaves and watch it or else it might not happen. And some times it just doesnt respond at all when i give a planet to planet move system in battle. It will either fail to move which i sometimes write off as its diasabled by an ability, but then ill tell it to move in system and it will start its swivel?!? I have even has an icindent when it didnt give me a blue phase space line to another system.
