I bought this Compaq notebook a couple months ago but I have been thinking I made a mistake so I've been considering moving back to a Powerbook. I lost control a couple years ago and beat my old Powerbook to death. I decided not to have a computer anymore because of the rage I felt toward them. Earlier this year I went to the Doctor for help finally. My blood pressure was high and it fueled the rage I was living with and She started me immediately on anti-depressants, blood pressure medicine, and prevacid to control the acid. I was having chest pains and at 35 I though I would just end up dead soon. A month after getting my medicines right I am living a much better life. I can't believe the difference. So I decided to buy another computer, and I am quite happy. I was thinking I needed a Mac to be happy but I always had to force myself to like Mac OS. I don't know why, its just the way it was but I was still going to get a Powerbook. Instead I decided to look around and make some changes to see if I could enjoy Vista better. After just 3 days with ObjectDock full and the Object Desktop Ultimate package, and a few other things I am quite happy. So instead I spent a few hundred bucks on improving the Compaq.
I ordered a 320gb 7200rpm hard drive for a bit of a speed boost, plus I am addicted to iTunes TV shows so I'll need the room. I also bought a full version of Vista Ultimate for a clean install, no HP bloatware to bog things down. Lastly I picked up a Targus AC/DC adapter since I am on the road a lot and had one for my Powerbook and it, although pricey, is absolutely superb. Sorry for the above soliloquy but had to vent it somewhere. I would also like to add ObjectDock is far superior to the OS X dock. I am still learning, and will subscribe to this site soon but I have spent quite a bit lately and have to make a couple paychecks first. I dumped my system utilities suite in favor of individual programs that do their job superbly well and I am happy to have shelled out the extra cash as things are much smoother and nicer now. I am sorry if this post is too much.

Welcome to Wincustomize, Mike!
Don't be afraid to vent here. We are a large and diverse community and I'm sure many have gone through similiar (or worse). Have fun customizing your PC and come back often
I will, I got about a week before I will be home to pick up the goods so I am working on getting the drivers downloaded, iTunes backed up and everything. I want a smooth transfer and I can't wait to get Ultimate on here. Plus I am using this time to just mess around as when I install Ultimate I want to just put on the software I will definately be using.
Hey 2of3 speak for yourself, I'm perfect.
2of3 is right, Welcome. Sounds like a good MD, so I'm happy for you! Have fun with your new box...but take the Kevlar/shock-proof model ...just kidding. Glad you got rid of the anger. The Community is diverse. Many come for the social interaction, while others are artists...hopefully you'll enjoy it enough to try both. Save up for a good graphics program, too.
Enjoy the place...and as with voting...do it often!

p.s. watch out for a guy named angus1959. He thinks he's perfect.
That's cool, I shot one of mine.
I can't wait it'll be some fun, plus I might save up for a barebones Alienware so I'll already have Vista and a decent hard drive Btw off topic but I just thought of Angus Young, the new AC/DC album for any fans is awesome. I don't have it yet but have heard it and it's just so good.
hi and welcome! sorry about your exerience with compaq. i own a compaq myself and have nothing bad to say about it. i do hope you will enjoy your stay here..cheers
I didn't mean to say I had any problems with Compaq, I've had several and all has been great. I just want to make it better. It was Mac that drove me insane, and I don't know why. I just prefer Windows and over the years really have never had any problems. I think if you are just careful, no matter what OS you use, you shouldn't have any problems. I just have this 'thing' that I feel I should own a Mac. I don't know where it comes from and I am resentful of it so I end up hating them and I've had more than a few.
HAHAHA so do I, but I never bought one because Macacide is expensive!
Spoke too soon something is causing iTunes too mess up, can't play my TV shows. I love MXC and I am lost without it! I can't figure out what is up, I hope it's not anything I have installed and just all the junk I have put on and removed lately..Once I put the new hard drive in and Vista Ultimate I hope all is well.
Ok payed for a subscription, having too much fun. If anyone's still reading this as long as I logon with Impulse when install my new hard disk and Vista will I have no problem re-installing everything?
Yes, you will have no problem re-installing everything.
Cool, thanks.
I have been downloading my drivers and it looks like they are all 64 bit as well as 32 bit so I think I will go with the 64bit install.
Angus is reported to have replied in an interview once...by a reporter....along the lines of ..."ACDC has made 5 albums and they ALL sound the same..."
Angus replied..."That's NOT TRUE!!!! .......we've made 7."
Aww man AC/DC rocks! I listen to a lot of black/death metal too but still love AC/DC a lot.
To tell the truth,I don't like vista at all.'cause so many games can't be played under it……
Looking foword to Windows 7……
