Hey guys,
I recognize that the currency resource is in the game for balanced gameplay, but lore/fluff wise it doesn't seem to make sense for any other faction other than the Trader Emergency Coalition. Why would either the Vasari or Advent have a use for currency resource? The Vasari wouldn't seem to need it, because they would just enslave the population of a world and use its resources to build their vessels. The Advent Unity would cooperate with itself and have no need to pay for the construction of it's ships. So considered from a lore perspective the currency resource seems a bit silly. I was wondering how you folks at Iron Clad justify it's inclusion lore wise for the non-TEC Factions?
Thanks a ton.

Currency isn't just money. It also represents the manpower and essential ship components ready for use. A ship can't be expected to be fully constructed in a vaccuum. Parts may be constructed on world, shipped to space, then assembled at the shipyard. In this way the planet bound factories get used to the fullest, and the shipyard does everything that can't be done on the ground. In addition, a space worthy crew needs to be trained to properly use a vessel. Currency also represents this essential resource. These kinds of materials have value to everyone else that also wants to build a space worthy fleet, hence it is a stable form of currency.
So pretty much, currency is abstracted out to be everything that isn't essential elements or high value materials.
That more abstract version of currency makes a lot of sense. Thanks Bobucles.
