Yes i'm at the begin... i don't know but i find all very hard, i don't know what i have to do first, and i'm an old player (yes i've played to homeworld too)
I think to place 1 reserch type lab, build some frigates, and surely some capital.. but the pirates come..and kill some ship.
After i've few credits... and the constr & reaserch is very slow..
How i have to begin?? there is some guide i can read ? maybe in pdf?
single player
Is that enligsh?
I would suggest turning off the pirates to start with. Also there is a game manual.
Samurye.
God no, save me from this nightmare!
@emperor
You know all language i'm sure... oh sorry how i can speak with you... you are the emperor! Otvaly!
@Samurye
Thank for reply first, i will try to deactivate pirate and study some good strategy, i have to say, at the begin is very hard to play and understand thr right way to play.
Thanks
i have started with a small map, like faceoff to play against one easy ai. Just to try some things. Deaktivate the pirates first to get more time to look into the gamemechanics.
Dont colonize ice and vulcanplanets at the beginning. 1. prob is u have to research to colonize, but u need the money for other things. 2. u have to build up this planets fast because otherwise u loose to much money/sec for underdeveloped planets. Asteroids will do a good job for the first colones.
greets
Okay here are some tips I know: do not research civilian infrastructure for your home planet to start with. Build crystal and metal mines on the asteroids in your gravity well. then build a capital ship factory and make a capital ship that can colonize planets. got to the nearest asteroid and kill all the bad guys there, then colonize that asteroid and immediatly research civillian infrastructure. Then wait untill you get enough money to build 2 civilian research laboratories, then wait untill you have enough to research Ice or Volcanic colinization depending on what kind of planet is closer. (If a desert planet is closer kill the enemies there and colonize it. then research all civilian infrastucture and build mines.) Then go to the Ice or Volcanic planet, kill the enemies there and colonize it. then research all civilian infrastucture and build mines. Do not colonize a planet untill you have enough resources to research all the civilian infrastructure there.
ALL BOW DOWN!
You might have looked in the Strategy area of this forum. The very first article in the list "Viable Strategy, Counters, Replays, and Tips 1.05" is just what you want. It is so simple to find!

Ok, thanks for all the suggestion!I think to deactivate pirate surely, because they need resource for kill them and i cannot see all the mechanism of the game, and yes it's better colonize asteroid first, because they don't need any research!I've to read the sticky post too, (viable strategy in 1.05).Thank again! Very good game... I wait Star Trek online.... (i played for 2 years to eve online... but this is another story )
hai guyz, wai r wee taklgn liek dis?//

You know, in the few posts Judgest made:
(1) he/she has discredited you by asking the question and getting the answer, while dodging your attempts to ridicule him/her.
(2) You discredited yourself for ridiculing him/her, rather than trying to answer the question.
I don’t know if this should be in this thread or not, I never really got the hang of forums, if there is a more appropriate thread, I’m sorry, please post the perma-link. I just thought it would be fun to discuss general strategy with everyone. I don’t know if I’m any good or not, I don’t have much difficulty with the computer (I haven’t tried against unfair yet), but don’t have high-speed internet so I’ve been avoiding online games, and I don’t know anyone else who’s into these kinda games. I am planning on getting high-speed soon though, and thought I’d see how everyone plays, I’m not trying to get an upper-hand or anything, I just thought it would nice to talk to other people about strategy.
My favorite race is the Advent, because of the Knowledge Aggregation research speed upgrade and the Divination exploration cost upgrade. I start out right off the bat by making a capital ship factory, then I que up all my resource extractors followed by two Harmony empire labs (so I can research Volcanic and Ice colonization). For ship production I start off with a Progenitor colony ship and while I wait for my factory and the ship to be completed I build five Seeker scout frigates which I set to auto-explore. When my capital ship is complete I send it to the nearest colonizable asteroid and set to attack all Krosov Siege Frigates then Colonize, that way I can retreat once the planet is colonized if my shields get taken down without worrying about the neutral ships left in the area destroying my colony. I start off with asteroids because they have fewer ships so I can get experience, then wait for my shields to recharge before moving on to the next body, usually by the time I get around to an actual planet my ship has reached level 2 and I choose the Malice ability to give me an edge against the larger numbers of neutral ships. When I first colonize a new body I immediately upgrade the Population capacity until the underdevelopement fee reaches zero, this is another reason I start off with asteroids, they only require one level and the Progenitor capital ship’s Colonize ability has a limited time cost reduction effect. I build a Harmony lab on my first asteroid so I can research Interplanetary Trade to build trade ports, Distant Visualization so my Seekers can explore nearby star systems, and Divination. Once both levels of Divination are researched I fully explore all the bodies I can afford to.
After that I work on upgrading all my planets population to get the most from taxes and research Rich Ore Skrying and Selective Harvesting to increase Metal and Crystal Extraction. The rest of the game I pretty much play by ear, I try to get large fleets of Capital ships and research Mass Transcendence to increase experience gained and so I don’t have to pay to upgrade them to level 4. I generally avoid single star or small systems, I like the feel and the time consumed in building a massive empire to throw at your opponent, though the computer tends to lag if all the AI’s have the fleet research and capacities maxed out, so I usually go for 1v1. I can go either way with pirates, though with how I run my economy I rarely get raided and I think that it ends up giving me an unfair advantage over the AI, the more they lose to the pirates the harder it is for them to work up a bounty against me and then they get raided more often. I do love to attack pirate bases though, it’s a great way to earn experience, but later on in the game (if pirates are active) you have to keep a close eye on the battles so you can retreat in time. I like to go with all the game’s optional speeds (research, income, phase, etc.) maxed out, though I think this tends to work more in the AI’s favor since the computer isn’t likely to space off while waiting for money to build up and doesn’t have to waste time navigating a GUI. As far as planet defenses, once everything else is taken care of, I upgrade my tactical slots all the way and build as many Hanger defenses as I can and use what’s left for beam defenses. I especially like the Advent’s hangers because you can upgrade them so each squadron holds 2 extra craft.
Anywho, that’s my spiel, I’d love to hear what everyone else does and would welcome questions and especially suggestions, though I’m kinda spacey when it comes to checking forums.
Thanks to everyone, and especially Ironclad, with whom I’ve begun a totally one sided platonic love affair... I lurk in the shadows whispering poetry
dont bother palpatine jugest,
if u bought a retial version there should be a manual otherwise, there's a tutorial in singleplayer mode (notsure where tough been a long time since i did it)
give's you a small impression on how the basics work.....
for trying a game i suggest u play with PIRATES INACTIVE in the game options, also with an easy ai. that gives u some time to read and familiarize with units and building
tip of my own, i think not included in the tutorial, colony ships capture planets, volcano and ice need research, any other PLANETS (not gas giants etc. ) can be captured without the need of a research) dont forget to upgrade CIVILAIN INFRASTRUCTURE to the max level on all planets, this is what provides income.....
i like to take 3 -4 planets then digg in with defences an hit the research
get my trade hubs and refineries up
if i can spare a logistic slot or two ill even crack on some culture
once that is all sorted i can build more ships and start to capture more planets
happy days!
From only multyplayer experience teh best strategy is to:
1) Purchace Lvl infrastructure on your home world
2) Build the crystal mine
3) Buy 100 crystal
4) Build capital ship yards
5) Build a coloniser cap (note on some standard maps and small map you migth want to delay this till you know a bit more about how the map is layed out.)
6) Build 2 scouts
7) Build the 2 metal mines
8) From here on end you apply teh strategy that you chose to play.
Steps 1 to 7 should be completed in approximately 5 seconds after game start.
That's pretty much how I start. The follow up depends on how big the map is. Start by colonizing any nearby asteroids first so you can start bringing in more resources. After that, do the research for Tundra or Lava worlds, which have easier to conquer neutral fleets than the arid and terran worlds. Tundra is ideal but I usually research whichever planet there is the most of nearby first. Focus your resource upgrades on whichever resource you get the most of so you can sell the excess and buy whatever you need of the other one.
Population = money. Don't take too long to upgrade planets and always upgrade one level for asteroids immediately, 2 levels for other planets.
PARAGRAPHS ARE YOUR FRIEND!
As for the OP, what I usually do is:
1) Sell 200 metal and buy 200 crystal off the black market. Build mines2) Build Cap Ship Factory and get your first cap ship for free3) Upgrade population on my home planet4) Since I play Vasari and they get LRM units right away I usually dont build any light frigates at all and just get LRMs. If you're not Vasari, build some light frigates5) Capture the nearest asteroid and upgrade it and build mines.
From here on out it depends. If there is a terran or desert world near by I go for that. I try to hold off teching for volcanic or ice worlds because that takes money that I like to spend on more ships
Sorry, I wrote that in word then pasted it here, I didn't notice they merged till I posted it.
Yeah, drive me nuts.
