I'm having trouble with this 7 Sins Mod that I just recently downloaded. I also downloaded 7 zip so I could extract it. I am new to mods, I've never used them, because I just can't figure them out for any game I've tried to use them for. I need some serioud help from the beginning to me playing the darn thing. I made a folder in Sins titled "Mods" and I've extracted the folder in there, but when I play the game to start the mod, it isin't in there. I looked at the "Mod Path" and it is saying C:\Document and settings\"Username"\Local settings (Which I can't find)\Application Data\Ironclad Games\SoaSE\Mods I've tried following that path, but I can't find Local settings when I click my "User name" folder. I need some help please.
Are You Running XP or Vista, or mabey 2K. I know some people still need to upgrade by a melinia or so
Ok, I had the EXACT same problem, but I just figured out how to do it!
Here is what you do
Go to to the search button and type in "Application Data", after a few seconds, your computer should find a few "App data" files. Click on the one that matches your path( C:/Documents and settingds/"Username"/local settings/application data), then go to Ironclad games then SoaSE (Mine was spelled fully, Sins of a Solar Empire)/mods
And there you go! I created a shortcut onto my desktop so I could easily download mods into the file.
PS. MAKE SURE YOU EXTRACT THE FILES! If you just download the files and place them in your "Mod" file, they won't appear on the list in the game, this was something that frustrated me for the longest time because the mods wouldnt appear in the game, even though they were in the file! You should be able to extract the files by right-clicking on them then selecting "Extract Files". After you extract them, the file should look like a normal file, and not one with a zipper on it.
I hope this helps you!
Great Answer Megamanfan!!
Yeah... but (unfortunately) I'm using vista..... Application Data.. hell, documents and settings dont seem to exist T_T All I want is a mod, man~
If you are using vista, type C:\Users\Charlotte\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire (you can copy paste) at the directions (to the right of the forward/ backwards arrows). it should take you to where everything you save from the game is, including screenshots...
im confused. where does the "username come from? the user curently signed on to the computer or some website?
It's the username that you logged on your computer with, if you have multiple usernames. to find what it is go to start and then documents. In the top there will be a "username"->documents that is the username you have to use.
first you will want/need a either or both winrar and 7zip to extract files then download and install mods
assuming you have sins 1.17/entrenchment 1.03, the mods NEED to be placed here for xpC:\Documents and Settings\'user name'\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods-v1.17C:\Documents and Settings\'user name'\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods-entrenchment v1.03 or here for vista/windows 7C:\Users\'user name'\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods-v1.17C:\Users\'user name'\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods-Entrrenchment v1.03
NOTE the first two folders after the 'user name' are hidden , so to see them you must first click on 'tools' then 'folder options', then 'view', then click on 'show hidden files& folders' then click ok, then you will be able to browse your want to the folder. I suggest when you find the folder that you create a shortcut to it on the desktopalso the galaxy forge maps only show up in the galaxy forge tab of map typesand if a map you want to play was released before 25th feb 2009 then you will also neet the sins map updater from herehttp://files.filefront.com/sins+map+updater+v201rar/;13585432;/fileinfo.htmlharpo
Go to control panel and click on folder options. Click on the 'view' tab. Then look down the list for an option called 'Hidden Files & Folders'.
Press show hidden files & folders and click apply. Then, go to 'My Computer' and click on your HDD, then users, then in there will be a file named after your username. Open it and click on App Data. App Data is the file that was previously hidden by windows, it will not be unhidden if you did what I said above.
In there will be a file called Local. Open it and in there will be a file called Ionclad games. Open it and there you go. Open the Sins of a Solar Empire folder and in there should be a Mod folder. Extract all your Mods into that folder.
Hi all. New Player here. Is there a way to change the Mod path. I don't have a lot of room on C and would like to change it to D. Windows Vista. Thx.

advice*
ok i have done evry thing up to this point but when i try to activate a mod in the game it crashes. help!
what version is the mod for?
nope since the folder is set to windir so i think it isn't possible...
starturtleatuin 7 deadly sins 2.1 is for OLD VANILLA SINS 1.05 ONLY. danman games is working on an entrenchment release, but it is still in alpha tests. I also want a 7ds for entrenchment but I do have an idea of how much work it is to update as the changes from 1.05 to 1.17 are MAJOR in almost all files, and the differences from 1.17 to entrenchment 1.03 are also significant, and what is worse the changes are in so many areas that it almost easier to start from the beginning again than update the files from the earlier version.

I did everything and it says i can activate it but when i do nothing happens, windows vista( i only have the mod hanger space 112) sins1.17
thank you for the advice.
Please remember that if you are attempting to use a MOD on the latest version release that was designed for a previous version of Sins, your game will do one of three things, work, mini dump or completely crash. The reason work is in bold is because there is a very small chance this will happen.
An even quicker way is to put c:\Documents and Settings\"username"\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games into the Run... application in your windows (IF windows ) start menu....
