Anyways, there is reference data for the 1.1 BETA. What I did is I installed the BETA, used the new ConvertData that came with it, and converted all those binary files into text. And since I'm a nice guy, I'm going to let you download it.
All you have to do is pay me $10.00.
Just kidding.
The files you should download are MeshTxt.rar, and GameInfoTxt.rar. However for your standard modding purposes the GameInfo rar file should do you just fine.
You will need WinRAR to extract them.
1.1 Reference Data
That's so nice of you.
But personally I will wait for 1.1 to come out. Why? Because I don't want to spend time making my mod work with the beta 3 only to have to do it again when they inevitably change things for the final version.
Oh my flipping cow! Thank you so, so much!
My modding with the 1.1 Beta 3 came to a grinding halt when I realized that I would need to first manually go through 157 binary files in the command prompt, converting them one by one into text and then manually merge each one with my mod's text files. Of course I will still need to manually merge them, but that is nothing compared to the work of converting those files that I will no longer have to perform thanks to your gratis work!
You must have one of two situations:
1) You have WAY to much time and patience on your hands.
2) You are a technical genius and managed to contrive some manner of batch converting the files from binary.
If it happens to be number two, do you think you could be so very kind as to divulge just how you managed this? I tried all kinds of ways to convert an entire group of files at once, but the converter.exe would never accept more than one exact filename at a time.
Thanks very, very much!
There is a batch utility which can act as the front end for the convertdata.exe available somewhere on these forums, I just don't remember the name of the thread.
Oh, that sounds great! However, does anyone know where exactly I can find this batch utility? I used the forum search and did not find anything. The search "convertdata" alone returns no results.
Here you go. I tried it with the 1.05 convertdata.exe and it worked even though it was originally made for 1.04
Seems as long as you've got the convertdata.exe in the same directory it whould work fine, so try it out. Saved me plenty of time.
P.S. Forgot to mention, it works only for converting to binary, but thanks to altruists such as Spardason, you don't have to worry about the other end.
Oh, that is truly unfortunate. I do not have much use for binaries.
So did you really go through these files one by one SpardaSon?
Na. A guy named Dekhranic made a nice ConvertData GUI. Basically you point it to your ConvertData.exe, then you can select a file or a folder to convert from either binary to text or text to binary. Works great as you can plainly see.
And originally I got them in text so DANMAN could update 7 Deadly Sins to the 1.1 BETA. So well uh IDK be glad I posted them up.
Play 7 Deadly Sins!
Is this it?
Why aren't these things stickied in a list, like the mesh resizer? They're very useful tools.
Ah! Thanks very much. That does indeed help. I do believe that is it. It works perfectly. I just had to move it to the same directory as the ConvertData.exe for the 1.1 Beta 3 and now it can do both binary and text conversions of entire folders!
You are right ManSh00ter, these things should be stickied!
You could always make a thread with the list of whatever useful tools there are and send kryo a PM to sticky it, I doubt he'd mind. Take the initiative, man(shooter)!
WOW! I went crazy trying to figure out why my mod wasn't working and now with this I can get a fresh start and FINALLY get it on the way THANK YOU!
EDIT: You say only the Mesh and Game info is needed right? I assume the particletxt and the other isn't needed to get the mods up and running?
Yeah. The particles are only the standard particle effects in BETA 3. Same with the meshes. Not really necessary. GameInfo contains all the entities essential for modding. And the other one (Metal Storm.rar?) is just a quick and dirty mod I made for 1.05.
Awesome, I guess I can have some more fun now.
Bump
I see your bump and raise you another. Anyways, this is approaching irrelevance with the final version of 1.1 coming out on Tuesday.
We won't have to convert data anymore?
Well hopefully they release the mod tools on Tuesday as well. If not, I will be so damn angry. The Sins devs wouldn't like me when I'm angry.
