How to stop WB from skinning websites?

Hiya,

I am wondering how I stop WB from skinning website graphics. I am a web builder and can't have graphics being skinned on sites or I won't know if that's how it looks to everyone else Please advise how I stop this from happening. I've looked through most of the settings I could find, told it to not skin firefox (seems it only means firefox itself not sites), not sure what else to try. Thanks for your assistance.

Wha? Windowblinds doesn't affect how web pages are displayed. It only skins the Windows GUI.

Do you have a screenshot of what you mean?

If you use windows controls for buttons or such they will be skinned. If you use custom controls you'll be fine.

I've searched the entire program and found absolutely no way to disable this... using custom controls may actually be your best bet...

Those are system buttons. If you want them to be consistent with your design, you'll have to skin the submit buttons.

could he maybe change the colors from the windows settings... I think I know to in XP... maybe... would you be ok with just changing the colors back to the windows default grey?

in vista the place where you would change that (if it's even listed there) is gone...

It can't be done through WB, he needs to specifically skin those buttons in his design/css.

Besides, WB isn't the only skinning program out there. Other skinning programs are going to skin those buttons as well if the site design doesn't skin them.

Euh, just add your browser to the non skinned apps perhaps ?

@neophil78: I did turn the browswer to a not skinned app in WB as my post already mentioned and didn't work :/

@those of you saying have the design skin them... explain please as I don't know what you mean by that, there is no skinning options in the site designs I've ever worked with, you have graphics such as buttons, radio buttons, blanks to be filled in etc. these are all skinned by WB on me and I can't figure out how to stop this.

@Bebe Bulma: Umm yes it does skin them, of this I'm 100% sure since I changed the theme about 6 times to see what it did on the site and it changed the graphical buttons and radio buttons on the page each time I changed it to match whatever theme I was using. Basically it's outlining the buttons, changing the colors and outlines and the checkmarks or dots in radio buttons, outlining the blanks for forms. This is unacceptable to a web builder unfortunately.

Sooooo once again any help here would be nice, thanks so far for the feedback and possibilities. Hopefully someone out there knows how to do this, even if it is my Windows doing it.

Windows XP Pro in case someone knows where the settings might be if it is windows doing it.

Yes but just getting your Windowblinds to stop skinning it won't help, what about other users who use Windowblinds? Or StyleXP? Or the other skinning programs out there? Going to put a disclaimer telling them how to turn off skinning system buttons?

There is a way to skin those buttons with CSS, I've done it with IPB skins in the past but that was years ago.

The same should also be possible with radio buttons and check boxes, just need to brush up on your CSS.

WindowBlinds skins pretty much all components used by Windows, this includes system buttons which browsers make use of. This however does not mean that others also see the changes if that's what's worrying you; it is only a local change.
If you want to be rid of these changes you'll need to modify the skin itself but that will also most likely modify buttons throughout the entire system.

Bebi's suggestion is probably the best way to rectify the problem for a personal website. As for other people's sites, you may have to put up with the default skin buttons.

In the display properties under XP there is an advanced menu where you can the colors and such for the title bars have you seen it? if instead of clicking on the title bars, or buttons in the picture, you can select other things from the pulldown menu. I assume those buttons will be listed there... I'm not sure what they will be called though. That is what I am thinking. the buttons are a function of windows, and not the web browser itself, that's why disabling the app in windowblinds won't work.
