Make sure you have extracted all of the files, not just the exe, and also make sure you have placed them in the root directory of the mod you are currently working on.

kryo, the particleforge zip didn't come with a readme. Any chance that can be addressed?

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application.

All files extracted, tried running it from within the Sins mods directory area as well as its own directory. I'm guessing I'm missing a .NET component or something?

Make sure you have .NET Framework 2.0 installed. That's usually the cause of that error.

I`m have few issues with particle forge.

First it reset my Sins game setting everytime when particle forge running.(super annoying)

Second it didn`t load textures that have correct filepath when particle loaded.

Third it didn`t remember It`s final window statue (position size etc)

If I could choose a specific folder for every texture and particle forge always load textures from there will be really helpful..

This is odd. Looking into it.

It's possible you have multiple copies of a given texture (in different folders). This is a safety feature. Do a quick search for the texture, dds OR tga in the game folders and delete the one you don't want.

I am not sure what you mean by this. I just ran the program, moved and resized the windows, closed and opened again and it remembered the positions fine. Could you explain further?

It should default to the last folder you selected for any given field.

Dual screen issue maybe? I always run particle forge in dual screen system. And when I run particle forge it always somewhere in the middle of both screens.

Strange..I use only 1 texture folder for Particle Forge...Sins default texture folder. I`ll check this. Thanks

I found it is most expedient just to make a copy of the PF in your mod folder, then you can simply type in the name of your texture files, without the path, and it has no problem finding them. Plus, if you use paths specific to your system, they might not work on other computers. So you save yourself the hassle of having to edit the adresses of your texture files when you are done.

And yes, the Particle Forge does seem to reset game options... strange.

I don`t think so. Partcle simulation only use a name of texture not the entire path. However I always delete path and leave filenamt in my final version for reduce filesize.

What a ROCKIN' little mod tool this is! Once I figured out that I had to remap all the image location files to the storage locations on my drive, and that some of the various default filenames that come up associated with the stock effects don't actually exist and have to be renamed, it was fun to get in there and start fooling around.

Is anyone else having problems getting texture animations to work? :/

Each time I've tried to use one it has resulted in the white bars of "no texture found!"

I've also tried all the particle pipelines to no avail.

I'm pointing the Particle Forge to the texanims in the game default install folder.

Any advice or tips?

Can we get a word on the file pathways thing from too? I'm curious about how I should be setting them up. I'm worried pointing all the pathways to the default install folder might fubar for someone with a partitioned hard drive or custom install location.

Yeah, I noticed it too. It may be a similar problem, but I also noted that skins on debris are missing - you can play the capital ship explosion to see this. Dunno if it's something I configured incorrectly or not.

The best way is to do the following:

Step 1: make a separate folder for your mod, then in that folder create subfolders "Textures", "Particle", "TextureAnimations" and "Mesh"

Step 2: copy all the corresponding files your particle effects will need to their folders. Textures to textures, texanims to their folder, meshes to theirs.

Step 3: put the particle forge files to the mod root directory and don't forget to copy the "PipelineEffect" folder as well.

Run the forge, and enjoy your effects.
It's also easier to keep track of your files this way, and you don't run the risk of accidentally overwriting something in the stock game data.

Confirmed: ParticleForge resets all game graphics settings to default, including resolution, whether or not you actually play the mod.

i get Particle Forge to work but dont know how to use

I had to reinstall Vista Ult. X64 w/ SP1 and now Particle Forge crashes on launch.
I have fully updated, have .Net 2.0. I have tried taking ownership, running as an admin, and re-downloading (as of five minutes ago).

Update: after rolling back to .Net 2.0 and installing the SDK I get the following:

An unhandled exception of type 'System.IO.FileNotFoundException' occurred in Unknown Module.

Additional information: The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)

Upgraded to 3.5 and it's SDK and I just get the same error as above (in edit 1). Since I have many downloaded versions of this program and they all have the same files, I know I am not missing one from there. What files does this thing access from the OS?

Rts Bond what u do to make partical forge work? I have a similar problem.

If anyone can post some precise info of what this problem of not being able to boot up the exe files it would be apreciated.

I'm getting the same problem as the OP. I'm running Vista; so you should be able to give me the exact file directory to put it in, I'm running .net framework 3.5 and I'm running Entrenchment v1.03.

You need to copy the contents of the Particle Forge map into the main install directory, not the entrenchment folder! (usualy C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire).

I think it needs a file in that folder...
