It's been registered with both Gracenote and CDDB before it went to manufacturing. (
Here's the track listing:
Are the songs in the \sound directory the same songs or does the folder contain at least some songs from the soundtrack CD?
dont think anyone actully had a solution to this, is there any way for those of us who bought retail to download the MP3's?
edit: ab-, just downloaded winamp and i can listen to the .ogg files at my leisure!
YOU ARE MY HERO! karma to you!
Just get a ogg to mp3 converter I am pretty sure there is a free one out there

just a question guys... in the files i found in the game, there are a bunch of songs that you never hear in the game... some battle songs and other stuff....
any ideas?
(p.s. if anyone is interested, download WinAmp and listen to TEC3 and TEC4 so you know what im talking about)
Does ny1 happen to know who composed the soundtrack? just curious
I got the soundtrack with my edition of SoaSE. Its the Game of the Year Edition. And its pretty nice to have the soundtrack aside from the game itself. Now if i want to make a video i can control what music from the game I have in the background.
ha thats what i was going to say. go winamp!
Is there an official cd cover?
VLC can also play .OGG files directly (Upbeat 3 I find particular fun; it plays whenever you're doing a beatdown on the opposition).
Dear folks at Stardock. Please make the OST available to we who purchased retail copies of SotSE. Perhaps consider digital distribution through Sumthing Distribution. They have entered agreements with several game developers to make their soundtracks available for instant download.
Please consider. Thanks.
All the music is in C:\Program Files\Kalypso\Sins of a Solar Empire\Sound on my pc, in .ogg format. I purchased retail boxed, but bought the expansions via Impulse.
TEC 2.ogg is my fave so far...
Ah... I purchased SoSE (as well as Entrenchment and Diplomacy, all seperately) from Stardock.
When i click the in-game 'Download Updates' button, it opens Impulse, but nothing else happens.
How do i access the mp3 version of the soundtrack CD?
Also, just a note, but Foobar 2000 is a great music player that supports .ogg, just my recommendation
Ah, and I also (recently) ripped the soundtrack from the /sounds folder, and ended up with copies of:
Disk 1 [Advent Soundtrack]:
:Advent 1-6
:Advent Announcement [Considering removing from playlist due to length]
:Advent Battle 1&2
:Advent Quiet 1&2
:Advent Sad
:Advent Theme
Disk 2 [TEC Soundtrack]:
:TEC 1-4
:TEC Announcement [Same as Advent Announcement]
:TEC Opening
:TEC Quiet
:TEC Theme
Disk 3 [Vasari Soundtrack]:
:Vasari 1-6
:Vasari Announcement [Same as Advent Announcement]
:Vasari Battle
:Vasari Sad
:Vasari Theme
:Vasari Trouble
Disk 4 [Misc. Soundtrack]:
:Opening Theme
:Battle 1-14
:Quiet 1,2;4-12
:Sad 1-3
:Trouble 1-9
:Upbeat 1-3
[NOTE: The soundtrack is divided into 'disks' for organization]
Did i miss any?
Interestingly, Sins doesn't seem to have any credits, so we don't know who did the music. I like the track Trouble 3 best. And I use VLC media player for the .ogg files.
