I looked in Skin Explorer, but I couldn't find a setting. I've tried manually changing it through the OS Appearance setting, but it keeps changing back to the skin's color.
Hello, is this tip up to date? In SkinStudio 6.4 (on XP Pro SP3) I don't see any "Misc" or "Miscellaneous". I had to change the desktop color by going to "Change skin colours" > "Edit Colours", select "Show me the skin defined system colours" from the dropdown list, find "Desktop Background" and change the desktop color from there.
By the way, is there an option in WindowBlinds to override or ignore the skin's Desktop Background color? I couldn't find it. If not, I have to say it's really absurd to actually pay for a product like WindowBlinds and lose the ability to control something as basic as desktop color. I purchased Object Desktop so I'm fortunate to have SkinStudio, but it's still disappointing that lack of this basic option in WindowBlinds forces customers to modify skins for something that can be done so easily in Windows before installing WindowBlinds.
I seem to recall an option in prior versions of WB to ignore the skin's system color settings (all of them), but it was an all-or-none option - you couldn't selectively ignore individual system colors. I can't find such an option in the current version of WB Config.
1) Open up your Windowblinds settings main window (I am using a purchased ver 6.01 btw.)
2) On the main 'Look & Feel' tab, click the 'Colours' tab.
3) On the bottom right of the desktop image shown in the 'Colours' tab is a link to 'Change system colours...' Click this and a window pops up allowing you to change different system colours for that specific skin.
4) Click the fourth one in the list (background) then click the 'Change colour...' button on the bottom left of the little window. Another window pops up allowing you to choose a colour.
5) Once done, close the two little windows and make sure you 'Apply Changes' in the main window before closing.
I just did this and it works fine.
ionized, you found it! It makes sense that WindowBlinds would allow system color changes without having to edit in Skinstudio. I just kept missing it somehow. Thanks. (BTW, I'm using the purchased version too. )
Certain functions of SkinStudio appear to have also been incorporated into WBConfig - nice. I had missed that.
This has apparently been removed from Window Blinds? There is no function anywhere on the program that I can find anymore to make this change AND the Skin Studio link in Window Blinds is still broken :/ Opens a website instead of the program once again. I sure hope this stuff will be added back in and fixed.
