Unless I'm missing something I think the Plague mechanic needs some TLC. I had a planet from another Civ flip to my control. Turned out that every citizen had the plague. Here are my issues with combatting the plague -
1) Only way I know to stop it's spread is to imprison plagued citizens and send everyone else to another planet.
2) The only mechanic to kill a citizen (that I know of) is to get the max planet pop below the current pop. However this only works if all citizens are plagued since you don't get to pick who dies. I have actually created a plague planet with minimal max pop and use transports to fill the planet with all my plagued citizens (up to 21 in current game). Eventually they'll die off.
3) The only other way I have figured out to get rid of plagued citizens is to load them on transports and use them for invasions.
4) The main issue I have is there is no notice mechanism for when a random citizen on another plant contracts the plague - that I have found. I have several planets which have had outbreaks since I got that first planet and if I wasn't checking it would have spread to their entire population. You have to manually scroll thru each citizen to see if they have the plague. This becomes a QOL issue and a real fun buster. A popup notice or even something on the planet summary screen would really help.
If I've missed something in the game it wouldn't be the first time so please let me know if I've been struggling with this for no good reason.
Hello scifi1950. Can you upload a save for this. I wanted to experiment with a few options to address this.
Illauna - Here you go. I had to give the game up it got so bad - had another one of my core worlds (Wachman) go totally plague on me while my back was turned. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/tasb6ercgirng9tt9uua3/2.94.Insider.2113.GC4Sav?rlkey=37chhrvprfvthuct6y5sigmry&dl=0
Thank you for the save. I dont see a duration. My guess the only way to deal is put all the plague pops on transports with a colony module or use the civilization transport feature and send the pops into harms way, You might be able to leave them in space indefinately. I'll bring it up to the community manager though. There should be some method of curing it or it needs to have a duration.
So you're saying my solutions above are the only way to currently work around it - good to know.
Don't forget to bring up my request for some kind of notification or indictor on the planet screen. Please & thank you.
Yeah I'll bring it up.Yeah will do I believe it comes from the Strange Fungus quest which is an choice or the Pathogen Quest form high pollution. Of course the AI probably will just accept the plague. There is no trigger to get rid of the trait in the Data. There is also the Pentultipox from the Galactic Challenges but that works differently. It says you get the plague but its -25% growth debuff on planet's growth until you build the improvement. Your supposed to get a tech that you can trade but that doesn't appear to be working.
Now playing 2.96 and guess what - the plague is taking over my planets again. There needs to be some way to fight this other than manually shipping every citizen off in space or creating plague planets. We need to be able to either cure or kill. This is a fun killing micro management issue. You gave us the ability to fight crime now can we please get some attention to the plague.
And my Synthetic Live citizens are still becoming plagued !!!!!!!!
Okay, I quit, that' planets 4 and 5. This was a great game too. The AI was actually playing pretty good.. Maybe I'll start another game tomorrow, but I'm too pissed to play any more tonite.
I'll bring it up again to the community manager.
FYI, I have cleaned out the plagued pops several times using armed transports and then replacing the last plague pop with a clean one, rebuild the planet pop only to have plague sneak in again. Killed off a civ and every planet but 2 have plague. This is a very bad design. Either an improvement, like a hospital, or each plague pop either dies or survives it and get a survived plague trait that prevent removes the negative effect and prevent further infection is needed. It's really making a mess of the game. On a side note, you need to fix the clicking on planet and ship yard items. It's infuriating to have to click all over it to find the sweet spot to give it focus for deleting. Both of these issues were surely identified during testing before release right?
This isn't fixed?
Um... is 3.0 gonna handle this?
If you don't mind using mods, check out Up Bundle of mods at https://www.galciv4.com/mods/manager and install Alien Exterminator mod folder named: Alien_Exterminator-BioWeapon. It adds an option to clear out the plague.
