For this blog post, I want to give our fans an update on what we’re working on for this summer. We recently announced that the Advent would be arriving for summer, but there’s a whole lot more that we have in store for everyone. I’ll start off with what everyone’s been clamoring for….
“The Advent, whose society is known collectively as “The Unity,” is a highly advanced pseudo-religious civilization that relies heavily on spiritualism, psychic prowess and cybernetic technologies. A sense of elitism permeates the Unity, and is most strongly expressed through the high value its members place on psionic ability.”
The Advent in War Year 35 are comprised of two factions:
Eager to continue their revenge against the TEC, the Advent Reckoning seek to assimilate any who survive into the society of the Unity. The Reckoning use their unique culture to mind control enemy ships, empower friendly vessels with every enemy ship captured, and to take vengeance on foes.
Suspecting that a corruptive influence within the Unity has influenced their race, the Advent Reformation seeks to purge this unseen enemy to restore the Unity to its proper path. The Reformation use the purified Unity to revive destroyed ships, sacrifice worlds to inflict terrible damage to adjacent planets, and rapidly augment their psionic strength the more casualties they take.
While the Advent are a big part of our summer update, we have much more in the pipeline for everyone to look forward to.
Players can expect a visual refresh on the game with new and improved environments, lighting, and race specific UI themes. You’ll also see large units - like capital ships, titans and starbases - take visible damage in combat.
We’re also adding two new planet types to Sins II along with a host of non-colonizable gravity well types like comets and wormholes.
All new voice-overs will be included in the summer update; in addition to new race-specific music that reacts to the action on-screen.
Many more maps will come with the summer update as well. Plus, we’d be terrible folks if we didn’t mention the pending modding tools and documentation that will help bring modders' creations to life. Keep an eye on the Sins II Wiki for more information as it’s available.
This is just a brief high-level overview of what’s coming to Sins of a Solar Empire II later this year. We look forward to sharing it with our loyal fans.
Keep up the good work. So far you guys are nailing it overall.
Thank you!
"We have come to bring the Unity's enlightenment to all."
Very excited for the update! Once again, the taking visual damage aspect really shows you listen to the community. I'm sure you guys also wanted it from the start, but the constant hammering by a lot of us no doubt made you want to include it even more and even faster
Splendid progress, keep it up you lovely people! Thank you
We think everyone will be pleasantly surprised by the Advent when they come to add you into the Unity.
That Advent ship looks so good! Can't wait to destroy it Keep up the great work, you guys are nailing it!
I love how you have basically done what we asked you to do. Sins 1 on a 64 bit engine. And somehow made it more engaging and interactive. Love all the hard work and will probably repurchase on steam cause it's just better haha
I might do the same at SOME point, but will most likely wait for a really good sale to pick up a good deal on steam since I purchased it on day one with EPIC.
will pre-order the moment steam allows for it. are there any plans for a special "steam voyager edition" or so?
Heh, the Star Trek license would bankrupt us.
My bad, ofc avoid licensing - there'll be great fan mods for that. Was more thinking along the lines of a Steam pre-order goodie, like some form of vanity item, or an easter-egg within the Sins lore.
Now that is a possibility - we'll post once we know for sure.
Will you be bringing back the massive maps from Sins 1? I used to love the randomly generated multi star maps!
Yup, they'll be back.
Good to see that return of the Advent - probably my fave faction from OG Sins.Timing, for me, is pretty good as hopefully they'll be included when Sins II becomes available on Steam.+1 to the art designer who's refreshed the Radiance. That clean gleaming armour is smooth.
it wont be for a few months still but ya, waiting myself. When the game gets on steam I plan on buying copies for my whole group. We use to play Sins often back in the day. Advent was pretty cool, I liked the metor starbase upgrade, always thought how fitting and unique it was.
Please add random events, as was the case in the first sin of the solar empire, for example an event that does not allow you to use abilities within the gravity well or does not allow you to launch squadrons)
We have... plans.
Awesome!!!! Multi Star Systems are the best ones ever!!!!!
So what is this for a journal you are following?Last year was said "Advent comming winter 2023".Now it is still saying "Advent commin early 2024".
We have now summer 2024 and mid year. When do you think you are going to release advent?I mean...
All capital ships, Titans, fractions, even the fregates and smaller ships are like in Sins 1.
Til now there is no new fraction. No new ship layout. How long should we wait on to get the full game content?
Maybe when the full game releases on Steam later this summer?
Probably, I just kind of wish they would resume the not so large updates in between and as for saying its in summer, I actually hate when devs use that as a time table cause summer can be very different times across the globe (and that's the intent I get) and we all know they wait till like the last day possible to be updated or push back. A lot of my friends are holding out for the big release though, I couldn't clearly lol. Looking forward to it on steam when it happens.
Well good thing I said summer then, not them. The Steam page says Q3 2024.
