Title, is there going to be a Steam release / pre-order available? I've refused to use epic (and uplay / origin) in any way shape or form since its conception.
I did get it correct, the correct number is 45% not 40% so 6% more and the PRC would have the controlling interest
No, the correct number is 40, you need to research that, and Tim Sweeney has the controlling interest.
I'm not a fan of Epic either, but if it gets their funding then fine. I really don't wanna wait 2 years but I guess I will.
Here to add my two cents. I played ALOT of Sins for a long time. Really sad to see it cannot be played for another two whole years. Please bring it to Steam. Steam is how I signed into the forums even...
But I don't care, I want the game. It's as simple as that, if you actually support the game you'd suck a little epic c* for it. I'm sorry guys, I've waited 10 years for a sins 2 and have made so many sins2when? comments on things that I am willing to buckle to reinstall epic games on my pc. Free games there are a benefit but really it's just sins2 I have it for. I really don't see why you can't compromise a little. Stardock definitely did here, they knew there would be backlash for partnering with epic. Yet if they didn't there wouldn't even be a conversation about sin2 apart from in some twitter comments. Really, you want game or you don't. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You derailed your argument with the start of that
Yes and no. Sure it was explicit but the logic behind it is true, either you want the game or you don't, it's that simple. Will be fun to watch how it turns out.
principle’s matters to some people and some people are willing to wait 😍
Principle's matter
You're talking about whether you are going to buy a video game or not, not whether you are going to kill someone. Don't try and think your morally superior for not buying a video game just because you don't like the company that is selling it. I mean, a lot of people are going to wait until it comes out on Steam and that's great.
Nobody needs to join the Pre-Alpha to support the dev's, I know I wouldn't for most games but really, Principles
I have already bought the game and even looked into this whole Epic/Steam thing that I never cared about before so I am 100% in the know of what that is all about. Believe me, I will sleep well tonight with my decision for myself and video games as a whole.
Principles
Well, that is quite the false equivalency you shot out there. So to you "principles" only exist when it's life or death? Not littering can be based on principles. Holding the door open for someone can be based on principles. None of that has anything to do with Sins 2, but I just read this whole thread and your replies are all of the 'holier than thou' type so I felt like chiming in here.
As it relates to Sins 2, I'm a wait and see type because my "principles" (much like that other comment) are such that I don't want to give money to someone using anti-competitive tactics to buy their way into the market. It isn't life or death, but that doesn't make it any less valid of a choice. Game will be great, I'm sure, and I will play it when it comes out on steam as it inevitably will.
His statement and yours literally are saying that if people buy the game now from Epic that they have no principles. That is the definition of a Holier than thou argument so don't try false equivalency your argument with me. As I stated, I think people waiting until it comes out on Steam and probably waiting until all the bugs are worked out is good idea. Only the die-hard fans wanting to participate in the Pre-Alpha and give back input should buy it now.
I could make the same argument with Steam being greedy for taking 30% profits so they are cutting all the small boys from being able to get their games published. As I said before, I have bought the game as a lot of other people have and I will have no issues sleeping tonight because of it.
I will continue to poke fun at the Epic/Steam argument because I think it's silly and deserves to be ridiculed, that is my choice.

Holy cow! Neither myself or the other person said anything about your principles. I stated that some people (including myself) have principles in regards to the afore mentioned issues, maybe not your principles and maybe these issues aren’t even a concern for you. This doesn’t mean you don’t have principles just you have different principles or maybe even different views. You need to take a class on logic, please and Thank You!
ITT: a bunch of steam fanboys cutting off their noses to spite their face. While you boycott a service just because "angsty fortnite fanboys", I'm going to be happily enjoy SoSE2 in peace. Steam takes a way higher % than Epic does, giving stardock more income to develope this game. I'm a SoSE fanboy, and tha'ts all that matters to me.
NatEff3ct I know exactly what you meant and why I replied to the way I did, logic class not needed.
We’ve already covered this, 30% of a much larger pie is a lot more than 70% of a much smaller pie
And in the process proving that you do not understand, and apparently don’t want to understand
and in the process knowing exactly what I was doing.
Has there been any new info on this?
I mean I get why so many dislike Epic....
But the Self Refund process on this early access kinda makes that whole argument, somewhat pointless.
Regardless, I'm just curious as to whether theres been any new info, or updates on when the finished game will be available on other platforms?
I first bought the original Sins of a Solar Empire (before Entrenchment was even released) and have been a continual fan over the years. I have a few hundred hours on Steam but surely a 1000+ on Impulse back in the day - it was one of my favorite games growing up. I actually built my first PC just to be able to play Sins of a Solar Empire (and Gal Civ 2) well. I just now heard there is going to be a Sins 2 and was super excited but then I found it was going on Epic only. The Epic debate has been hashed out elsewhere plenty but to keep it short I think their practices of bringing console-like exclusivity to PC gaming are toxic to the extreme and refuse to support them in any way. Not coincidentally the reason probably hadn't heard of Sins 2 until now is because it wasn't on Steam, which is excellent for getting the word out about new and upcoming games.
I would love to be involved in the development/testing of the game but getting an Epic account is a bridge too far for me to cross. If there were some way to buy a direct download from Stardock or any other way to support/participate in the development of the game outside of using Epic I would greatly appreciate it. As it is all I can do is keep an eye on the dev diaries and wait.
Steam or no buy and I've been very adamant on this.
Good luck to the dev team. I won't be buying until the game goes to Steam.
Bye.
Bye. I know I have been enjoying this game...
Just be petient and wait until its available on Steam, it will be worth it....... Just like the GC4.
I jumped for joy when I learned of the existence of SINS 2 and I researched the game... only to realize that Stardock had chosen to be an Epic exclusive. Cold shower.
Publisher Fireshine Games made the same mistake with Mechwarrior 5, which was released a year and a half later on Steam. The game was a near miss on the EGS and when it finally made it to Steam, the game was a hit. The game was successful enough for the devs to give us 4 DLCs... (interpret that as you want).
Stardock unfortunately gave in to the easy money sirens of the EGS while Steam would have offered them much better visibility (and therefore more money in the end).
So I will have to wait until 2025 at best to play SINS 2 ? So I'll play Homeworld 3 in the meantime... (or SINS 1 of course...)
