Hello there, Sins of a Solar Empire fans! Are you ready for a brand new entry for the series? I know we are!
There are plenty of reasons that Sins of a Solar Empire is a fan favorite, such as the unique asymmetrical gameplay or diverse and interesting races and factions that you have to choose from. But, like anything, everyone has their own opinions about what makes something fun and worth playing.
So, I'd like to hear yours! Let us know in the comments what you're most looking forward to in the new game or what features you're really hopeful that you'll get to see. As always, we really appreciate all of you being here and supporting Ironclad and Stardock over the years. We know you've been waiting and asking for a sequel for a long time now - we are so very thrilled to be able to deliver that to you! We look forward to reading all of your thoughts and feedback.
I hear you! Thanks a lot for taking the time to read through and reply to our comments.
Ok this is very reassuring to read and I can't wait to see more soon! Thanks yet again.
Devs...are you reading this?
Yes. Daily.
Of course we 5s players can hope in such a case that someone will make yet another mod to bring back the game we loved, just with the new engine...
I suspect once you see the new game you'll probably be good with where things are headed. Still, I'm eager to hear feedback either way -- it makes for the best end product.
listen to the multiplayer community
The team has one of the best track records I've seen for integrating community feedback. If there's one area you can rest easy, it's this one for sure.
hopefully soon
Very. If brevity is the soul of wit, we are being extra witty. It won't be long before you'll have a lot more to discuss...
I'm also really excited for the playtest release on the 27th, I really really hope there is some form of coop or multiplayer in the early build even if its completely broken lol
Somewhere in Q1 of 2023 multiplayer is coming; so it'll take a few more months, but by then it should at least be more complete (2 factions) and a lot of artwork, music and weird kinks will be replaced as well. Hopefully improved with my and everyone's feedback. So well worth it to actually wait until then to play with others I would say.
The same as the first game, the day I get a legit copy on STEAM!
I was originally excited for this news I played the hell out of the OG. Took forever to see that it is epic exclusive, guess you were hiding THAT news. Dug up my old Stardock account to let the devs know that you will get 0 dollars from me ($0x88% > $60x70%?) Disappointing, anti consumer behavior, you should be ashamed.
wow... People still moaning about this Epic thing. We are not talking about xbox vs Playstation here, where you need to invest in a whole new console, controllers, etc, both launchers run on PC. I guess we wouldn't be human if we didn't find something to moan about.
I can't wait till the whole game is complete. I love the new engine and it looks amazing, runs like a dream on my PC. I'm just so happy about the new Sins game and being able to play it from day one with a pre-order.
You might say that the amount of moaning has been "epic". I knew that not everyone was a fan of Epic, but before this I had no idea how large it was in scale and how visceral the hatred for Epic Games. If the exclusivity deal ever ends, that will be an opportunity to re-market the game as a new release on Steam.

No, I can’t speak for others, but I will not purchase this game, even if it comes to other retailer platforms. Developers need to stop this anti-consumer behavior. I choose to vote with my dollar.

Exactly. So distribute it on both stores at the same time.
I'm most excited for the steam release! Nvm thats going to be years away. If it even gets released on steam lol
Man, the hate towards Epic, who cares. I know I don't. Already have the game and loving it. If you have to be so infantile to complain to the world, I guess that is your business. I guarantee you don't speak for the majority here. While I don't much care for the Epic launcher and will probably get it on steam when it comes out on steam, I support the DEVS at Ironclad for bringing us SINS 2. Seeing everyone that is already streaming actual gameplay, I suspect I am not alone in this feeling.
Gotta love capitalism, I totally agree with this. This game will sell regardless, guarantee.
You're right, it is a no brainer. You made the right choice, don't listen to the vocal minority of haters. Please use the extra money to make a better game.
I have all my games on steam, but I will download Epic just to get my hands on Sins 2.
My wishlist, in no particular order:
- Moving planets and phase lanes are awesome. Realistic orbits are probably not ideal for gameplay, which is totally fine. Gameplay comes first. But please give us an OPTION (through settings or map design) to play with realistic solar systems.
- option to invade a planet rather than bombing it. Maybe it takes longer and is more expensive, but you keep some of the planet infrastructure if you succeed
- expanded planet specialization options, both in upgrades we buy and natural characteristics
- more varieties of defense structures. Synergies between different types, counters, etc etc.
- customizable autocast. I like autocast as a tool to reduce micromanagement in the first game, but there are a lot of abilities where it is just dumb. A ship ends up using ALL it's antimatter for no benefit, just because it can. It would be a cool strategic layer if we could set up our own rules for when autocast could activate each ability. For example, I might decide that I only want my Skirantra to autocast repair cloud if it has greater than 50% antimatter and more than 10 damaged targets in range.
- make it possible to actually harm an opponent's economy with small raids, if left unchecked. In the original, there is little that a small fleet can do even if it gets behind enemy lines and is ignored. Blow up a mining asteroid? Takes significant time, cheap to replace, barely noticeable effect. Pick off trade ships? Almost unnoticeable. Bombing a planet will hurt, but siege is expensive, slow and easy to kill. Need a full fleet to protect it, so it's not really a raid anymore.
I want to see everything from the previous game on the new engine. no need to break something that works well
I noticed that there were rare resources in the veli. then if they are so hard to find, then large ships should be more powerful. new resources seem superfluous to me, why complicate it... everything has already been done horsho, just give the mods convenient tools. it will be cool if the maps and mods will be downloaded automatically when you join the game
The rare resources are only hard to find if you play it on easy. I usually play either Hard or Unfair. There are a lot more Exotics in those levels, both in drops and offers. I kind of like the system the way it is now. When you go to purchase something, it automatically starts the research as long as you have enough labs, and it also starts mining the exotics if you have the Refineries.
I've played a few games. and it's still unclear how these innovations will take root. but at the beginning of the game, you can set the settings. I want to be able to disable and add mechanics that will allow people to play the game they want. this will allow you to embrace a large audience. someone will not run into rare resources, so you can disable it. if you want not separated fractions, turn it on as you want. if there are a lot of settings, you can make complex presets.(they can be collected to get some statistics) in general, I wish that the game would be flexible and customizable, so that everyone could set the conditions that they are interested in and changing the rules of the game every time to play a new and interesting game
I want to see the linux version
This is awesome News! cant wait. If its available on Steam preordering now. If not, will not get it until it is, same like GC4.
What I'm excited about the most for this Sequel?
I want to find out whats chasing the Vasari!
I money is on that theory that its NOT another alien race thats chasing them cause that would mean the developer would have to create a FOURTH Faction for Players to play, and that would upset the "trinity" that already makes the game so special.
So no, its not a fourth playable race; and it wouldn't be some AI controlled race either, because the Lore already implies that its seemingly some "unstoppable force" that's been chasing he Vasari across the Galaxy for nearly 10,000 years!
The Lore says that this unknown threat started within the core worlds region of the Vasari Empire, located near the center of the Galaxy. That it started when their colony worlds lost contact with the rest of their Empire, and that it spread to their original core Home World as well.... It says that any attempt to send their own ships in to find out what was happening, resulted in those ships never coming back, and all contact with them being lost. Except for 1 lone ship that returned with everyone on it fallen to some sort of madness.. at watch point the Vasari chose to flee and set out across the Galaxy on their 10,000 year journey thats finally brought them into Trader Space...
Now here's the interesting part in all this!
We actually do not know the fate of that single, lone ship... that returned filled with Madness, the Lore doesn't say... only says that the discovery of this one Ship, is what prompted the rest of the Vasari to suddenly flee, and make a run for it across the Galaxy... fleeing from what we only know of as some sort of "unseen/unknown enemy"... not even the Vasari know what it is yet, other then the "madness" on that one lone ship, they apparently must have left behind, when they fled.
I'm betting, its some sort of viral contamination that's infected their population on those colony worlds, and its their own infected peoples chasing them down, like zombies...
The "madness" witnessed on that 1 lone ship that returned all those years ago; thats how the infection starts, before it becomes transmissible. It rots away at the brain resulting in state of "madness" for a short period of time, then the host dies... then some time later after death the virus reanimates the host and thats when the virus is fully matured and can then be spread to new hosts... and this is why none of the current Vasari are infected. They fled before the hosts on at that 1 lone ship, became contagious.
But since they left them on that 1 lone ship.... those Hosts now HAVE a ship... and that's what's chasing them!
A single Vasari "Super Titan" filled with Viral Death... and when it arrives, players can't just destroy it, cause that will free the infection from within it. Imagine a big battle over your richest world, and you blow that thing and all its debris raining down on your valued population...
No, you cant risk that...
Only through the combined might of the TEC, Advent and Vasari can you find a way to cure this infection and stop it once and for all...
OK, thats MY idea and opinion... about what's chasing the Vasari.
Would love to see other poeples ideas and opinions!
I loved SOASE! Unfortunately, I, like millions of other enthusiast gamers out there, cannot stand Epic or their business practices. I will have to sit this one out, which is really really heartbreaking. This is the majority of your established fan base - you're killing us.
