I'm happy to announce the semi-retirement of my old computer and the introduction of my new rig. I've been upgrading the same rig for some time and decided it needed to be retired to a media server. It will soon be running PLEX and streaming all kinds of fun content all over my house. To take over all my work and video game duty I have built the new, shiny computer seen below.
Starting with the hardware:

It's difficult for words to do a new build justice so here are some pictures as well. I'm really loving this case so far. It makes everything look so much cleaner.
pretty sweet
Nothing beats a good Motherboar ....
Haha, nice catch.
does anyone find the front jacks/ports (especially the ones that point skyward).... lacking.
you plug things in and the wires... due to gravity will be bent 180 degrees fairly quickly and well... get damaged.
Taichi is a very good choice if you have the money for it.
Hey that's a really nice gaming rig there Did you upgrade to the 1080 ti though? I want to know how the RX580 is working out for you.
I haven't upgraded yet. I've been holding out for the new NVidia cards to see what kind of performance gain to expect, and to bring down the price of the 1080TI.
The RX580 is a pretty good card, but I had to lower the GPU clock to keep it from crashing. It's really annoying. Other than that the performance of the card is pretty solid.
5 days ago I just got rid of my 10 year old Mac Pro Tower and went back to Windows. (Almost went Linux.) I needed a good video editing machine and I could no longer wait on Apple to release a true work station computer. Then I realized I could actually play video games again! I did some research on modern space games that are/coming out.
So long story short Star Control Origins is the first game on my rig. Just good timing. I always like being in a community at/near the beginning.
And now I am leaving on a trip for 2 weeks. *** Sigh *** But I got the Inamorata Strike Ship submitted to the ship contest. (I may do one final revision tonight before I leave.)
I recommend, also picking up Galactic civilizations 3.
That looks beautiful, all one needs is a solid motherboard, epic graphics and performance
Solid rig mate!
