I must say, this guy from ComputerWorld has got it totally right regarding Windows 10!
https://www.computerworld.com/article/3240065/microsoft-windows/thanks-microsoft-but-i-m-still-saying-no-to-windows-10.html
Actually, no matter what we want, we cant use modern computer without win10.
I have a very "modern computer" that I built myself , It runs on Windows 7 just fine.
.....so much for your "modern computer" theory...
Im using hybrid computers now.
Surface 4 pro, and Lenove think pad. And It is completely impossible to use even 8 on it
I'm running a New Lenovo desktop and Windows 10 works fine for me .
Same here, new machine and Windows 10 working fine here.
I will say Security in Windows 10/Defender is getting much better. My OS is tighter and more secure than it ever was on Windows 7.
When I built this machine it would have been in the absolute top 1% of computers on the planet....came in at around 10,000 AUD ...i7-5960x at 3gig....16 cores...32 gig of DDR4 [that win7 couldn't define originally] and an M.2 drive and UEFI boot that win7 took a bit of convincing to understand ...but it works [now] just fine.
It'll be quite a few years yet before I need an upgrade [if ever]....though maybe another 32gig of ram...just because I can [8 slot board]...
Sure it'd be idiot-proof with a later OS than 7 ...but then I'm NOT an idiot so I haven't installed 10 ....
windows 10 is horrible.... bottom line windows 7 FTW!! they keep trying to make the newest versions of windows better and better and yet every time they just make them worse and worse..... i dunno if they do it on purpose or wtf they are thinking... lol
you have super computer and it will be uptodate next 4-5 years probably and if you build it before win 10 you will need to stick to win7 probably. But mostly all computers now building for win 10 only, even big companies like intel do not writing drivers for win 7 anymore. Of cause you will be able to run win7 but will have probs with network, storage, bluetooth etc, a lot of small but annoying bugsAlso, after working on win10 for few years, i cant return to win7 any more, while i loved win7 a lot.
2020 ms said they will stop supporting W7, so I guess we'll all change.
Considering the quality of support there is for 10 ....[ok, so my Edge is working again....until the next update] .... not having support will be a bonus...
I'm thinking of going to Mac OS, keep my Win 7, and 8.1 on my current machine. After my new Lenovo laptop upgraded to the latest Win 10 upgrade, it sucks, don't run worth a damn.
Did you know that there are millions of people including businesses , still happily using Windows XP with no problems ? Windows 7 will be around for a VERY LONG time regardless whether they end support or not , it simply IS that good. Did you know they stopped manufacturing the 350 Chevy small block engine many years ago , but to this day , there are millions of them in use by very happy owners who are still able to rebuild them and keep them running ? Again.....so much for your "modern computer" theory...

Ok do they still do security updates after any Microsoft OS that is not supported anymore, that in itself is important for me.
....besides, I don't know where you got this "modern computer theory" from, that wasn't anywhere in my comment.
For what it's worth. My first computer was a Commodore 64. Many things have come and gone some good and some not so good.
I continue to use my Win 7 machine most of the time. Mainly now because I prefer to make WB's on it and it's my desktop. However I have yet to fine a problem with my win 10 computer. Visually with Start10, Windowblinds, Fences and OldNewExplorer, I find it looks just great. In fact one of my WB screenshots was on my win10 and you can't even tell it wasn't win7. Have no plans to get rid of my win7 just posting my view.
I was replying to comment #1 in the thread. It had nothing to do with you.

Forgot this. I don't have the latest version of winstep but my win 10 looks good with that also.

Ahhhhh. LOL
It isnt theory, it is a practice. i bought 3 computers in the last year, all of them was with win 10, and all of them do not have drivers for win7.But if it is easer to you to think different, i dont mind. Anyway you probably will remember my "modern computer theory" when will buy new comps with windows in future.
And im not saying that xp lovers isnt exist, they do, as BDSM lovers for example... I also know that some people loves to use DOS
But Im talking about Microsoft politics, not about original preferences of the people, and not about me and you. So please do not go to personalities just try to understand what i want to say
I don't like Windows 10 because of its updates!!! Maybe it's a trick of Bill Gates and Co but sometimes after the system has been updated my Wi-Fi goes crazy and refuses to work.
Those business that still use XP are paying MS for continued updates. Us common folk don't have that opportunity.
Methinks MS could take lessons from NASA. After all they have rovers on Mars that are years past their prime and still going strong. An orbiter whose life span was measured in months now has years on it's life. Kepler was only slated for a short run and what happened, it surpassed it's due date. Anyone notice a trend here?
