So we all think that Sins is an amazing game. We'd like Sins 2. Post here if you want it.
Sins 2 would be Awesome! Or even a 64bit upgrade and let the modders have fun with the new toys.
Of course we do my friend! As one of the "oldies" around here, I've been around since beginning of this great game.
There is still, NO OTHER GAME like Sins. No other game that compares. The new Master of Orion tried, and failed. The new Star Control that is being worked on sounds amazing, but alas its still not Sins.
No other game gives you galactic view, but then able to zoom in on the smallest fighter and control its movement. That ship to ship control is not there in most games, leaving the AI to control them while the player just watches....I'm sorry....I don't play games to let the AI control the battle for me. I want to control EVERYTHING in a 4x type game. I want the option to micro manage everything. I want complete control. Sins does that. Plus with the modding abilities, I could bring in my own visions, my own creations, as well as those from the past, such as Master of Orion or Star Control.
Yes Craig...we want Sins 2, we all want Sins 2. We have been begging for Sins 2 for years now. A Sins based on 64bit, that can use multi-core processors, that can take our modding dreams to new heights....yes.....please......give us SINS 2!!!!!!!!

In case anyone has not seen this.
I have prayed to brodin for many moons in the hopes that Sins2 would come
I think part 2 will be awesome.
I wouldn't mind sins with a new coat of paint (ie another expansion) as long the engine could handle the game better in large games.
Yeah, but that is a meaningless pic that could be seen as a hint it is happening, or as a not so subtle message that is isn't ever happening.
I would love to see Sins 2.
As for features, I think adding in stealth units may be a good choice. With the Vasari's enemy approaching and the fact that it appears to black out all communication I think this could be a major theme for the game.
Another thing would be improving the economic options. Maybe you could have the option to raise taxes on a number of planets, which would net more income but make them more vulnerable to enemy culture. New specializations could be nice, I liked how Ironclad put in down sides to them so you were discouraged from specializing all your planets. Maybe one for research?
With the clamoring for a campaign I think Ironclad could at least have a series of scenarios, where the player is given special objectives. You could have one as the Vasari loyalists where you have to gather enough resources, while fending off enemies, or one as the TEC rebels where you have to cause damage to enemy structures and bomb their planets. Maybe put in special friendly and enemy units, like the former may have an economically oriented capital ship, while the latter could have a hard target destroyer. This could also help new players learn the game.
I've heard that voice acting can be a big cost for story based campaigns. Once you say you're doing a campaign players expect there to be a story longer than a few sentences per mission, and, from what I've heard, there are many who would want it voice acted. Getting good voice actors is difficult, and, from my limited knowledge, a lot of the people who want voice acting have quite high standards. I think we should be willing to moderate our expectations, as Sins has enough large maps to last hundreds of hours, and I think there is a tendency to expect too much. If there is a story based campaign I would recommend Ironclad to keep said story simple and focus on a few key themes. Focus on showing how the war affects the characters and keep the story focused.
What do you all think about expanding single player and the Sins gameplay? Should stealth be introduced and how should Ironclad handle a story if they were to go that route?
I'd love to see proper stealth units and I would love to at least have objective based scenarios if not a proper campaign proper. As for voice acting, they should play it smart, get unknown, upcoming voice actors that are cheap and hungry for the work, avoid the big names or well known actors, because they come with a big price tag.And a fancy VA isn't going to sell your game, just get voice actors that can do the job well.
I agree that fancy VA probably isn't the highest priority. However, I have heard some people on Youtube get really bent out of sorts about VA, such as the user StratEdgy. I think voice acting is nice, but it seems to be taken as a given these days, and I'd much rather have Sins 2 focus on the gameplay rather than aesthetic concerns. I suppose they could have a narrator for each of the factions, but I think gameplay should be the main concern.
It would also be nice to see more differentiation between the subfactions, which have some techs that Ironclad could really build on. The Advent Rebels could get buffs on their resurrected units, or the Vasari loyalists could get more in depth capital ships.
A pro player's wishes for Sins-2 (aside from the obligatory engine optimizations, 64-bit, multithreaded, etc.) not necessarily in order:(1) Make few if any changes to the basic game play. The best way to screw up the sequel to a successful game is to start messing around with a winning formula. That doesn't mean that another race or two can't be added or that more planet types and logistical and tactical structures can't be added or that the tech tree can't be expanded, etc. It's just that the basic game play - the tried and proven winning formula - needs to stay the same.(2) Robust and competent online multiplayer functionality. Sins barely scratched the surface of its potential for online multiplayer, which is a shame because it's unique among RTS games in not being a button mashing APM-based clickfest. I've always felt that it was a great game that could become "the next Starcraft" if done right.* (2b) An optional skill-based matchmaking functionality.* (2c) Allow for games of up to 10 on 10 if it's technologically feasible. (If 10 v. 10 isn't a good game type, there's nothing stopping people from just playing 7 on 7 or 5 on 5. It can't hurt to have the option.)* (2d) Auto-download (or at least a pop-up box asking for permission to auto-download) for real custom maps produced in Galaxy Forge. and mods They're just simple text files and would download to people instantaneously.* (2e) Build some maps where the players can determine the starting locations, both for the two opposing teams relative to one another and also for the starting positions of the individual players on each team. (Maybe one guy wants to play the "eco spot" and another wants to start off in the "suicide spot" instead of having people distributed at random.)* (2f) Create a "declare victory" condition so that a winning team can forcibly end a game without having to knock down every enemy planet. For example, "If one team owns 75% of the planets on the map and has 75% of the fleet supply in the game, that team can simply "declare victory" and end the game." That way a single sore loser jackass or two on the opposing team can't drag out a dead game for an extra hour or two.* (2g) Allow disconnected players to rejoin and re-assume control of their empire in whatever state the AI has left it in.* (2h) Allow people to be in multiple chat rooms at the same time and to be able to access chat rooms and the general Lobby while in game, etc.* (2i) Have the server browser show what mods are active for a game on the list.* (2j) Find a way to enable spectating of matches.(3) Create a setting on ship factories that allows you to set the default settings on a newly produced ship - auto join fleet off, hold position, etc. That way newly produced ships won't run off to valiantly commit suicide against an enemy fleet in the gravity well if the player can't grab them in time and set to "Hold Position". In fact, there should be an option to simply make that the default for all factories without having to set it up for each individual factory one by one.(4) Group scuttle, like a "scuttle all selected" option.(5) Scuttle confirmation check box for capital ships and planets.
I want SoSE2 Pleeeease)))
I would.
Then they could add in the multi-faction diplomacy NPC types and trigger functions too.
I Agree with DirtySanchezz especially numbers 1, 2, 2b, 2e, 2j and 4. All very good ideas.
Had a dream last night that Sins2 was announced. It was different than my dream 2 weeks ago of Sins2 being announced.
We need SoaSE 2!
Sins 2 is definitely needed. I would love to see some new factions and techs, new planets and more Huge and Vast sized multi-star galaxies. I love the exploration part of the game.
No doubt about it: we need a successor for one of the best games ever produced.
Better graphics based on a new engine and new factions.....
Yes please. 64 Bits, multicore, modern renderer, better modding support, LUA scripting, rotating/animated parts on models (real ones, with full shader/self-shadowing support), firing cones.
I think that's it for me
+1 for sins 2, with new engine (to avoid lag even on high end desktop) and I'll buy
Yes please!!
Yes please the game engine absolutely needs this.
I'd love to see a Sins 2. There's a great lack of good, modern RTS these days with unit production similar to Sins, Starcraft, LotR:BFME2 etc. I'd just hope that it doesn't have as many bugs as Ashes does.
After SCO, will Sins 2 be happening anytime soon? or an announcement before 2019?
Yes, I would love to see it
But, only if it has a proper campaign mode
